I came for the Ramen so that's what I ordered first. The Tonkatsu Ramen was reasonably priced, but the broth had very little taste - it made me wonder if they really made it from bone or if they used a miso base to save money? The egg was a hardboiled egg, so the effect of the yolk in the broth was completely lost. Unsatisfied I decided to try some sushi. For a place marketed as authentic, they were really obsessed with maki. I ordered some a la carte nigiri which was fine - but the garnishes they chose were unedible so it really took away from the experience. The place was cute and the server was nice, but at these prices I expected better.

This isn't your dine everyday place...this is your I've got a craving for good sushi and ramen place and I'll pay anything for it place. It's conveniently located near a train stop but the parking lot around the stop has abundant parking spaces. I decided to go with one of their set dinners for 44 euros. Started with a bowl of edamame, sashimi salad, chicken karaage, gyoza, bowl of miso ramen, and green tea ice cream. What I love is that you can customize it to some degree. Each dish was fresh and tasty...and honestly not terribly priced for what you get. My husband on the other hand got a plate of sashimi that was 34 euros along with his entree. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. His English was discernible. There are Japanese staff that deliver the food and their English is not so discernible but their Japanese is great! What I love and miss about Hawaii is the wonderful Japanese service and it's nostalgic to get it here. The graceful, polite service that the Japanese are known for is enough to keep me coming back, despite their higher than average prices.

+ very high quality + very delicious…read more+ food is prepared in front of you + very entertaining + social activity (table is often shared with unknown people) + very friendly staff + rather cheap lunchtime specials + Japanese drinks (optional) - expensive - time-consuming I've just recently been at Manyo's. Every time it's spectacular and outrageously tasty. It's a very good way to show others what food in general and restaurants should be like - joy for all senses. Especially recommendable are the multi-course meals (Akane, Wakana etc.). I've never had better beef than here and even tofu is okay, which I usually tend to avoid. Fish is delicious as well, of course. Moreover, the desserts are a feast for eyes and palates and the chefs try to explain the whole procedure while throwing food around. Due to mixed tables you often get to talk to other intrigued guests. The atmosphere combines traditional Japanese elements with very modern ones. Mind you it's not a sushi-bar, but a Japanese restaurant that also serves sushi. Conclusion: Must-see! One of the best ways to spoil one's palate. But save some money first.

I would say that the balance between price and quality of food is very value. Ten portions are good considered and at the end you wont have the feeling that you ate to much. It is the perfect size! If you come at the time as a typically japanese (early) to the restaurant you don't need any reservation. If you come a a German, please give them a short call and reserve a table. They speak very good japanese, though and the Germany is outstanding good. Everything is original and the support and service is perfect for a dinner with your be loved!

Despite the positive reviews, my experience was underwhelming and disappointing…read more First, due to its popularity, the place is serving over capacity. Sure, that's great for the business, but for the customer, that means less attention and a lot of hurrying. Even with a reservation, we were told to be out within 90 minutes. What?! I just got here and you're talking about kicking me out? Not a great way to start... At the table, we literally had 3 minutes to look over the menu before the waiter/host interrupted and told us to go for their set menu (routine of salmon and tuna), which will surely make us "full". What?! I'm not here to stuff myself, if nothing else, at least have some respect for your own food. To buy us a bit more time, I order tea and ask the guy to give us five more minutes. Immediately, he storms off to another table... Luckily, an older lady with more sense of customer service comes to serve us after bringing our drinks. When ordering, to my surprise, neither toro or hamachi were available, despite being displayed on the tabletop menu. We end up going with a few other nigiri and two rolls. The nigiri is nothing special. The fish did not taste fresh or flavorful and there was absolutely no interaction between the rice and the fish. The rolls were surprisingly large. Perhaps due to the overuse of sauces, but again, the fish flavour does not come through. Very very disappointing for a place that seems authentic and masterful in its craft. Final word: I probably should have taken the young host's initial advice and filled ourselves up with the simplest rolls they know how to make. This is definitely not a sushi restaurant, it's a buffet.
