I called this shop this morning to speak with a representative regarding the driving range. The man who answered the phone did not want to answer my questions. While he did not outright object, his tone was incredulous when I asked if he could check when it opened. he wanted me to just go to the website. While that is always an option, the man behind the phone could have also easily just answered. His attitude toward a potential customer was very concerning. Furthermore, the rules in this place are incredible. I have never been to a golf course of this quality and seen such an extensive rules list. I am not talking about the obvious rules of respect, kindness, and regard for the time and effort the grounds crews go into. Instead, what I reference are certain rules. "No spectators allowed." - This is incredible. Every course I have golfed at has allowed a rider or spectator. My wife and I love to spend a Sunday morning golfing. I golf and she rides. A few courses ask for a fee for the rider, but never refuse them outright. Most courses I have golfed at have been ok with a rider, and I am alright with paying a fee, but to refuse a spectator outright is egregious. This course is not Augusta National. It's a $15 course in central Indiana. Allow spectators. Charge a fee, but allow spectators. "Please be sure to reserve the appropriate number of players for your tee time; adjusting the number of players at check-in may result in a delayed tee time or cancellation." Plans change. Last week, I called Pebble Brook 40 minutes before a tee time to add 3 more players. No problem at all and certainly no cancellation. A business has the right to refuse business to anyone it wants to, but let's show some sense here. "No outside food or beverage allowed. Personal coolers will be held until the completion of your round." - Again, the extreme rule here is very surprising. I golf around central Indiana a lot and have always been allowed to bring my own water or soda. State law forbids alcohol, and of course, we follow the law, but where am I supposed to hydrate myself? This course will not allow golfers to rent a cart with only 1 person on it, so I find myself walking 18 holes with no water. Does the club employee carry girls who have beverages? Again, not a very well thought-out rule, and completely disregards the comfort of the customer. Overall, I do not think this club is very respectful to its customers. I am no boomer, but the customer should receive a certain amount of respect. I am choosing to spend my money here; please act like I am not a burden on your time. I am sure I will golf here, the course and range are piss cheap, but I won't recommend this club to others, and I'll only golf here when Pebblebrook or Bridgwater are busy. I really hope that ownership makes some changes, as the location is great, the grounds look beautiful via photo, and central Indiana does not have enough fairly priced golf venues. read more

We called in about the golf cart age, and the worker on the phone said 16 with a valid driver lisence, and one of my buddy's had a recent survey so we needed the golf carts. When we got there they informed us that you had to be 18. Which going to Sahm was one of the reasons we were going to Sahm. Safe to say we will not be returning. read more

Employee said that you needed to be 16 to have a golf cart, once we got there they said you had to be 18 and didn't allow us to drive them, ruined the day, course is fine but customer service sucks. don't recommend. read more

Sahm Golf Course is the kind of place that quietly whispers, "You might not be good, but you'll have a good time." And honestly, it delivers. The layout is a sweet mix of forgiving holes that boost your confidence and sneaky little doglegs that remind you you're not on the PGA Tour. There's a fair amount of trees--enough to keep you honest, but not so many that you feel like you're golfing through a jungle. The par 3s are fun, the par 5s are gettable if you've had your Wheaties, and the greens... they roll true, even if your putts don't. Conditions are solid for a muni--fairways are usually in good shape, and the greens won't eat your ball alive. Sure, there's the occasional rough patch or sand trap that looks like it survived a small explosion, but hey, it adds character. Pace of play is decent most days, though if you show up on a Saturday afternoon, you better pack snacks and emotional support. The pro shop is low-key but functional, the staff is chill and helpful, and the vibes are very "golf with your buddies and laugh at each other's bad shots," not "take yourself too seriously in expensive pants." The best part? It's affordable. You won't need to sell a kidney to play here, which makes it a fantastic go-to for regular rounds without breaking the bank. Bottom line: Sahm is a course with heart. It's not perfect, but it's fun, it's friendly, and it's just unpredictable enough to keep you coming back--and blaming your clubs for your slice. read more

We booked in advance, got to the course, paid in full, got our golf cart, parked the car, loaded up the golf cart, & pulled up to our t time. My spouse golfs, then I ride along with our 9 month old. We do this every Sunday at different courses, no issue. Management said we couldn't have 'kids' on the course because it's dangerous & she could get hit in the head with a ball. Refused to let us golf. 10/10 don't recommend. Poor communication/ zero stipulations regarding this is any written form, strange rationalization. read more

Over the past 3 years I have played Sahm about 3 times each summer. While not exceptionally long or hard, the course is always in decent shape and greens fees are a bargain. Tee times on weekdays are spaced out and the groups have always moved nicely. Sahm management gets a huge pat on the back during the recent heat wave by providing free ice cold bottles of water at 4 different locations around the course for the golfers. read more

Back again, 6 years later this course has not changed, garbage management and the course is a 15$ course at best, they also do not space tee times, nothing has changed! read more

The course is mediorcre but what makes it the worst is the staff, especially the younger kid with the blonde hair that works the front desk, he deserves to be fired, he is HORRIBLE. Not helpful at all and very rude. The course is not nice enough for them to be acting like it's Augusta. I will never be returning to this course and it's almost solely because of the kid working the desk, not a good way to run a golf course. If you want good and cheep golf with not many worries, do not go here, it's not worth the time or money this establishment costs. I'm back again for a 3rd year writing this review because nothing has changed and this course is the worst course in Indy read more

I will give it five stars because of the obvious improvements this year. The golf course was in the best shape I have seen in years. I realize that it is a smaller course that has fairways side by side...but the attention to detail is better this year than ever before. The bunkers are meticulously kept and there have been improvements to the bridges and the weeds seem to have disappeared. The condition of the greens compared to other "upscale" courses is far better. Many of the greens on other courses have either been scalped or mismanaged with large brown spots...not at Sahm. Of course, the greens are smaller, but the quality of the green is solid. We had no negative interactions with anyone inside or on the course. Everyone was very kind. So, for the money and new attention to detail of the course, I give it a 5. read more

You'll only come to Sahm if you're looking a course that's cheap and relatively easy. Any 'experienced' golfer can easily get through this course without much trouble. Unfortunately, the design of this facility has some major flaws. The fairways are nearly on top of each other so you'll be waiting for a different group to hit out of your fairway/rough quite a few times. Also, our cart was filthy and hardly cleaned. But hey, can't complain much when it's $25 for 18 holes and a cart! If you are looking for a cheap course to bring some friends to, this is your place. read more

Played Sahm for the first time today because it was a 45 degree winter day with sun. It's a decent course for a beginner. Not too hard but has enough dog legs and hills to make you focus and not get over confident. I have avoided Sahm for years because it is always crowded during summer hours. I use the practice range a lot. The practice range and golf prices are good. I'm new to golf but even I ran into slow players. Just be patient and remember you were a beginner at one time! Just chill out and enjoy the game. Be a good ambassador for the game. read more

Whole staff was extremely rude to us and completely ruined our experience. Someone came up to us on the first hole and said "clearly no one knows what they're doing." We had two beginners with us. Then owner came up to us on hole 7 of 9 and told us we were playing too slow. We told her we had beginners playing with us (we're playing best ball) and we let two groups play through us the first two holes so we wouldn't slow them down. No one was behind us for two holes the rest of the time. Then she proceeded to mouth off to us while walking away. We won't be coming back. read more

The old man that works evenings makes this course unbearable. Total a-hole. They don't space out the groups so plan on 4+ hours easily and the greens are absolutely riddled with divots. I'd rather drop a car battery on my sack than play this course again. read more

I very much enjoyed Sahms golf course. It was my first time here, and I found the staff very helpful and friendly. I went on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't too busy, we managed to play 9 holes before it got too dark to continue. I will be back here for sure read more

This has become my favorite course. If you have heard bad things about it you should question the veracity of the person who told you. Or ask how long it's been since they last played there. The course is in great shape. I play early in the mornings -- I walk with 1-3 friends -- and we always get finished in under 3 and a half hours. They have been working hard on their drainage issues and have begun to replace a great many of the Ash trees which they lost. Previous comments about the management are just bewildering to me. From the very beginning they have been nothing but nice to me. In fact they (Mo in particular) have gone out of their way to help me out at times. read more

The golf course is great! Not too difficult of a course with a fun, stress free design. BUT DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THE RANGE HERE. The range is god awful. The mats are what you expect from mats but as someone who likes to hit off the grass, (like you would when you actually play) you will find nothing but dirt unless you're lucky enough to be the only one here and have to walk all the way to the end to find any resemblance of a grassy patch to hit from. It's simply just dirt and all it takes to fix the issue is to move the grass range barrier line every other day, but they keep it in the same spot. Always dirt, clean the clubs afterwards and wonder why I wasted my time trying to work on my swing for a shot I'm never going to be hitting. This range SUCKS. read more

The most popular city course in Indy, Sahm is a nice course for the price range. Fair warning, though: this is the busiest course in town. It's a city course, and has a lot of first timers and novice golfers. So, if you're a more serious player, you may want to avoid this course, as it tends to backup during busy times. However, the middle of the day during the week is a great time to play the course. Also featuring a large driving range with both mats and grass shot areas, Sahm's 18-hole, Castleton area course is a great place to get started in your golf career. They have a decent little clubhouse and pro shop, and lessons are available for those who wish to invest in swing improvement. Walking is allowed, and it's pretty common to see people walking the course, though most still ride in carts. A relatively straight forward course, there is little water and not too many trees. Usually backs up on the weekends and during the twilight specials. read more

It's Sahm's who doesn't like this place when you just want to get in a round on a decent course for a respectable price? The course was in great condition when we played it and they've made some improvements since the last time I played. As poor an experience as possible and I was on the driving range. A guy in the range picking cart raced over toward me and stopped just short of cursing me out. I asked the desk employee about who I would talk to about the experience and he said the guy who just abused is the manager and that's what he is like. Everyday. Would be funny if it weren't true. Golf course is fun... Staff... not so much? Another stellar hire by our parks and recreation department. read more

My husband and I just had a terrible experience. We are interested in taking up golf so we came in today (July 4th) to the golf shop. Matt Nikirk could not have made it more obvious he wanted nothing to do with us. Yes, we were the only people in the shop so he was not busy. After trying multiple times to get some information on what the store offered and golf lessons (he actually told me to turn around and read the flyers when I had questions after I had read the flyers). We asked for his managers number and he had to brush into my husband while walking to the desk. Unprofessional. Rude. Complete lack of customer service. I was told Mo Musser is the head manager and I will be contacting him. He needs to know about the type of employees he has. Yikes. read more

This course would be ok if it didn't take so long to play. Maybe it's better on a weekday, but it is painfully slow on the weekend. The course is in ok, but not great shape. The price is reasonable, but it doesn't masher up for the pace of play. read more

Playing this course during the week is your best bet as far as the crowds go. Sahm park takes really good care of the course. It can accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a professionally designed layout and constantly updated hole placements on the greens. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful to me. It's the best value for the price in the area. read more

am a routine golfer at Sahm's, my friend and I golf there on occasion. I would say the GM Moe Musser is somewhat friendly most of the time but lacks good interpersonal communication skills. I am in my mid 30's and have golfed on and off my entire life, I did take notice that Moe normally pays more attention and is more friendly to the older generation. My 8 year old son wanted to join me this morning so he could learn how to play the game of golf, I felt by exposing him to the sport might ignite interest for him to want to play. The plan was for him to ride in the golf cart and just watch. I called Moe and asked if they allow children to ride in the cart, Moe responded coldly and said ONLY PAID PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE. My friend confirmed that children are not allowed to ride unless they pay, he once tried to bring his daughter with him and was denied. They settle and went to TOP GOLF to enjoy the game of GOLF I thought to myself. This is why golf struggles to engage with our youth, people like Moe discourage young kids who want to watch and learn the game, I guess charging an 8 year full price is there business model. I am sure when Moe was a child someone brought him along with them so he could watch and learn, now look he is running a golf course as the GM, where would he be if nobody introduced him to the game of GOLF? Not in customer service I can assure you of this!!!!! Anyway, I broke the news to my son and he teared up, I told him I would make this up to him with a golf course that is kid friendly. My friend and I finished golfing , I was bothered by what had happen the more I thought about it. The only reason I play golf is because my DAD took me with him when I was a child. I asked my dad if he had to pay for me to ride, he responded absolutely NOT, I informed him that Sahms wanted me to pay 35 dollars for my son to ride in the cart. He was shocked and disgusted. This story gets worse, my wife called and spoke with Moe and very nicely she asked for an explanation as to why they do not allow children to ride and watch. Moe responded harshly in a belittling manner, as if a women is asking about GOLF and questioning our rules! Would he have responded in this manner if a man was talking to him? Moe hung the phone up on my wife and I could hear that he was yelling at her. Moe please keep you irgrant ways and women belittling tendencies to your self when speaking. I was not able to speak with Moe because he blocked my number. I guess Moe can not be question! It is people like him that set the game of golf and society backwards. I will never spend another dollar at Sahms and i will discourage my friends and family as well read more

Rude and unprofessional staffs. Customer service is horrendous. Go to a different course if you want to enjoy playing golf.

Sahm Golf Course is just what it needs to be--a well kept, reasonably easy layout catering to medium to entry level players. Due to the nature of the clientele seasoned golfers should avoid on the weekends. The management and staff are top notch if you are not a complete $%(&^%. I have personally seen potential golfers in the pro shop who were so completely brain dead that it is no wonder staff are less than completely attentive. These idiots have no idea what goes into running and maintaining a golf course. Play here if you are not an idiot. You will enjoy the experience. read more

Played here since I could swing a golf club. Took lessons when I was younger and now bring family here when they are in town. Would recommend it for any age group. It can get busy and slow at points, but it's a straight forward course that anyone can play, so of course it draws a crowd. If you want a quick game, go during the week. Want a relaxing, leisurely game? Go on the weekend. Priced completely reasonably and has all the standard golf course fare... Soft drinks, sports drinks, cold beers, hot dogs, chips, etc. A clean pro shop and a driving range with plenty of mats and grass tees. read more
