    Palak Paneer
    Patrick Z.

Got my usual as always, palak paneer, and this one was pretty good. Usually the ones fully blended smooth I know are gonna hit the spot. This one had a great heat to it and the pieces of paneer were pretty large. Garlic naan was large and fluffy which I appreciate but pretty steep price ($7!) for just bread.

Good place at lexington ave for desi food- They have an extensive menu and service is great! Good dine in place. We tried their saag paneer and chicken. Both were good- their pani puri is decent too-Good options for vegetarian.

    Two lunch specials

My husband and I are in town for the weekend and knew we needed to get our fill of Indian food. I found this place on a list of Eater's best NYC Indian spots. We arrived around 1230pm on a Sunday. The place itself is relatively small--maybe 30 or so seats. There was plenty of space when we arrived. There are a ton of $15-16 lunch specials that come with your choice of entree (we got the lamb Rogan Josh and butter chicken). dal, rice, a dessert, an order of naan AND an order of samosas. We got everything in this photo for $35 (sans tip) and service was good. We left with full bellies, a smile and our leftover food and fresh order of naan :)

    Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special

Empty a lunch but everything was delicious. Would recommend the lunch special for all who love Indian.

The lunch special here is phenomenal! Plentiful portions of scrumptious food for a reasonable price ($17). The pakoras were fried just enough and everything was very flavorful

Everything here is good quality and affordable! Nothing on the menu is sooo crazy - like very Standard north indian fare. The apps of papdi chaat and samosa chaat were pretty fine; maybe wouldn't order it again necessarily, but passable. Mains were good and this curry was $17 and quite tasty, so I think that's exactly what you want to not break the bank on something so standard. Service was nice and very easy to get a spot even on a weekend night, so in favor of this place!

    Mango Lassi Medium

Food & service were EXCELLENT. Vibe was very chill. Our new go to. The naan is great, butter chicken was to die for and the mango lassi was spot on.

I don't frequently have Indian food, but I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone today by trying something new near my school. Had a Punjabi Goat Curry lunch special today with a butter naan and an order of hot Masala Tea. I ordered my combo over the phone and picked up 30 minutes later. The service was nice and food was tasty. I enjoyed the meal. I also learned that Masala Tea is different from Chai Tea, but in my view, even tastier!

Tanmay's scale: - Scrumptiousness: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Ambience: 4/5 - Cleanliness: 4/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Vegetarian friendly: 5/5 - Parking: 1/5 Including the complementary papad with chutneys, everything tasted good. We ordered papdi chaat, mango lassi, medu vada, and cutlets. The servings were properly decorated. The quantity was perfect for the price and ambience. Staff members were attentive and friendly. I will definitely visit again.

Food (5/5) Service (5/5) Ambiance (5/5) Price (5/5) Came on a weekday during lunch and they had a really great lunch special deal. It comes with a curry, roti/naan, dessert, and appetizer (dessert and appetizer changes daily). I went with 2 friends and the appetizer and naan were combined to one plate for sharing. The staff was friendly, and the seating was decently big. No complaints.

Fantastic Indian dish options at Sahib. We sat down for dinner and were served some complimentary papadum with a tamarind and green chili sauce. I started off with masala chai. Yes, while this should be served at the end of the meal, it was a cold day. I also ordered the Mung Dal Soup. Our waiter served the soup and recommended I eat that first and to not let it get cold. He offered to reheat my chai if I couldn't get to it before it cooled off. Having spent time in South India, I'm always looking for a tasty yellow dal. This Mung Dal Soup was it. The masala chai had layers of spice with cardamom and ginger. This is made with the traditional full fat milk. As it cools, a skin forms on the top displaying the dark coloring of the spicy tea. The puri is always a fun and surprising bread. My table-mates were surprised by the size of this light and airy puff. When you break it apart the soft slightly layered bread is perfect for soaking up with saucy dishes and sweet tamarind sauce. Based on our waiter's suggestion we went with both the coconut and lemon rice. Both were fragrant and loaded with seasoning. I absolutely loved this rice and could eat it just by itself. I ordered the Mutter Paneer Methi which was creamy and rich. The whole table enjoyed this. We also had the Marchwagan goat curry. This was in a heavy rich sauce and the meat was tender. I'd recommend this if you like a heavy and sweet dish. The last bite was the Kashmiri naan. This is stuffed with a reddish pink fruit paste as well as nuts. The naan tastes like a dessert and was a perfect conclusion to our feast. Three of us had enough food for leftovers for meals the next day. I look forward to going coming back. The staff, ambiance, and food left nothing to be desired.

What are hours for buffet ? Is bread offered for free?

Delicious hot bread is brought to your table along with chicken tandoori, and other treats. I don't know how long the buffet goes at lunch

Anyone have delivery experience with Sahib or other Lex Ave Indian places? I need to feed 11 people in a building near Flatiron, 2 weeks from now.

Sahib delivers promptly & deliciously. Highly recommend.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha? Pillowy, caramelized, absolutely yummy -- the kind of bread you'll be tearing into long after you're full. The flavors here are the real thing -- bold, layered, and unapologetically authentic. This isn't watered-down, please-everyone Indian food. This is the genuine article, executed with care and a distinctly British-Indian sensibility that you rarely find outside of London.
