Every single time I get a panini from you, it's made all sorts of wrong. First of all, you need to inform your staff of proper food handling rules and regulations. Dipping the same utensils in 3 different tub without even wiping it off is such a health concern, especially for someone with allergies. This is a review for the pharmacy not the store. The employees in the actual store are awesome! But the pharmacy...ugh. If you like to waste your time and be treated rudely, then the pharmacy is just the place for you! If you enjoy calling in to check about your prescription, be told it's ready only to go into the store and they have no idea what you are talking about, you'll love them. Their other amazing talent is mixing up prescriptions. Which ya know, it's only medication so that's not dangerous, right? More than 4 separate times I've been offered the incorrect medication than the one I was planning on picking up. The consistency of this is amazing! The pharmacy is the worst. Dropped my Rx for antibiotics and told 30 minutes. Then came back 1 hour later and told still 15 more minutes. They did not tell me they were closing early after sending me away twice so when I go back 1 hour before their closing time they tell me they are closed. The woman was super indifferent about it. This review is for the Pharmacy only. I have had many less-than-positive interactions with the staff at this pharmacy, communication between the staff & customers is abysmal and there is zero sense of urgency no matter what your situation may be. Granted, not every Rx refill requires a 30 minute turnaround time, but when I am told my prescription will be ready after I've finished my grocery shopping, that is what I expect. A more realistic timeframe would be to suggest that I come back and pick up my refill the next day. Because that is about how slowly the staff will process a refill. The last straw for me was when the long-time cashier who works in the pharmacy all but outright called my husband a liar. There are too many options (ie, mail order, Costco, and the lovely staff at the nearby Walmart Pharmacy) to put up with garbage like that. read more

For 14 years, I've spent about 12k per year on groceries at this Safeway. During this time, the store has been tolerable, never great. They generally had things in stock and the club prices can be a good deal but I was never wowed by the experience. Over the last 3 years, the shopping experience has steadily declined. That is about the time Safeway bought the only other grocery large grocery store in West Linn and subsequently closed it driving everyone to this location. Needless to say, it is crowded. Forget about going here after church gets out. The aisles are narrow to begin with but then they block half of each aisle with display boxes causing bottlenecks because you have to go around them. Every week is like a scavenger hunt because they move where things are located constantly. The baggers are so slow that the person behind me finishes paying before all my groceries are in the cart. I wouldn't mind this so much if my groceries were being treated with care but that is not the case. Every week I have something crushed or something fall off my cart on the way to the car. Don't do your recycling here. The machines are either full or broken and the area stinks with a sticky floor. I tried to buy a last minute birthday cake for my daughter at the bakery this year but first 5 cakes she picked out were expired. Seriously-5. About every 2 years, I give up on this place and go to Market of Choice about 2 miles farther away. I wish it was bigger and less expensive so I could do my serious stocking up there. But after 4 or 5 weeks, I have to go back to Safeway. Unfortunately, there is no relief in sight. read more

Their spice area did not have any orange estract this evening. I looked around for help....none was available. I went to one of the two checkers who were available with one other item. I asked if someone could check pleaser check in back. She refused to look or request assistance and said stockers would be in an eleven and that I could have a rain check for tomorrow. Since my wife was presently baking Christmas cookies...I knew a rain check was a bad idea. I said that I would then check with another store and they just as well get my business for the other item I was going to purchase. So...off to the West Linn Walmart. West Linn Safeway's Shop and Go has failed again and again. They have obvious issues with quality control but don't seem to care. They deliver the wrong quantity, are missing items, and fail to even inform the customer. They are friendly but if your recipe depends on the right ingredients, don't use Shop and Go! Wow, I'm shocked at the poor reviews of this store! (I can't speak for the pharmacy as I've never used it.) I LOVE this store. I shop there about 3-5 times per week. Their selection is amazing, their produce is wonderful, it's clean, and the staff has always been very helpful. I use my club card religiously and I always save 25-35% on my total. There were a few times I had issues (club card not syncing and questions on my first drive up and go order) and they took plenty of time to help me out. Sure, a few days they were out of rotisserie chicken, but things happen, not gonna freak out and leave a bad review. They can get very busy because a lot of people shop there. I had to be in the area so decided to go in for some of the deli fried chicken for dinner. Had a deal for the 8 pieces of dark meat so went with that. I have never EVER been sold such overly cooked chicken - ever. I've purchase fried chicken at Safeway and Fred Meyer before. This was awful. The girl helping me kept trying to give me extra stuff and it had to be because it was so bad. It didn't look terrible in the case but when I got it home - yuck! I also purchased a small container of the loaded potato salad - potatoes were very undercooked. I don't usually buy the pre-packaged salads and now I know why. On a side note, my 20 year old daughter was in the store earlier today on her break. She waited 10 mins for someone to help her at the deli counter. She asked if she should pay there or go to the checkout up front. The employee's reply was "Well, unless you want to wait another 10 mins I'd go up front." When she did she found several of the register employees gabbing. When she walked up to a register the woman said to her "Why wouldn't you just go to the self-checkout?" So that's what she did. In the last several months I noticed Safeway starting to put out several bins of chicken in their deli. More chicken then you'd think could possibly sell before it gets dried out. Today I went in and purchased eight chicken legs. Of the first four I tried to eat I was able to find one of them was not so dry that I could eat the majority of it. This is not just the West Linn Safeway. There is one close to my work in Portland that does the same thing. Tonight was the final straw for me, in a year and a half I have unfortunately needed the pharmacy @ Safeway in West Linn 3 times and every time has been a train wreck! So let's talk about today...My doctor called in a prescription of antibiotics because I have a slight infection in my lower jaw caused from a virus I had about 3 weeks ago, so I get to the counter and the young man tried to help me and ask me my name and date of birth at least 6 times and kept saying I wasn't in their system so finally he went and started asking the 2 pharmacists if they had a prescription for me. Both pharmacists said no, nothing so the young man came back and said sorry your Dr. never called in anything, finally I said your sure Dr Dugger never called in anything when all of a sudden the one pharmacist says...oh ya here I have a note (he held up a 8X11 piece of paper that was completely stuffed with probably 30 disorganized notes a complete mess!) right here I'm terribly sorry it will be 20 minutes and we'll have it ready. So I come back in 20 minutes the pharmacist that found the note comes to give me instruction and I asked him if what he was giving me was Gluten Free and Dairy Free as I have an ALLERGY not a preference or diet choice... which he replies I have no idea and would take me a long time to research and get back to you. I said what am I supposed to do the Dr was clear he wanted me to start taking this over the weekend so that it doesn't get worse but if I take it and it does have gluten or dairy it could make me sick? His reply not sure what to tell you! I won't know today and I'm off tomorrow, so sir I'm not sure what you want me to do... My reply was I'm in disbelief that I'm buying from a pharmacy and pharmacist that went to school for at least 8 years I'm assuming not someone on a street corner, and the answer I get is "not sure what you want me to do????" Then he goes onto to tell me "this whole gluten thing is kinda new and the drug Mfg are not required to disclose if there is gluten or dairy in them". I said WHAT, you mean to tell me they can give out drugs and not disclose what allergens are in them.. he said "Yep", I said give me the drugs I have already paid for and I will do my own research! So that is why I will never use this pharmacy ever again and would discourage anyone else to either, I would hate for them to make a big mistake and cross up someones medication that could be a more serious life threatening situation. Every time I shop at this Safeway I leave feeling like I need to give the employees a hug. They seem lost in their thoughts about life on the outside of the building. They go through the motions with questions like, "did you find everything okay?" and occasionally give a sad "hello" to nobody in particular. This store lacks any sort of heart and I can't help but to think that there is more that could be done to bring some energy to this miserable bunch. When the economy gets better guys, RUN! Every single time I call to see if they have a certain product they have a song and dance, must be what they are told to say------"We MIGHT have it next week but we don't have it now. What does it take to get these folks to see that Walmart and even Market of Choice is taking their business away-----not because they are better but just because they have what you are looking for. I now just call them, have them check for what I want and when they don't have it I go to Walmart or Market of Choice and pick it up. I skimmed some of the reviews on the pharmacy, and I have to disagree. I can't speak to the wait time, however I can say that the staff I interacted with were very friendly. The gentleman at the register was interesting and intriguing to watch with his hands... he should be a dealer in Vegas! Just watch the way he moves around to get your prescription out of the fancy high tech prescription dispenser: mesmerizing! Safeway employees refuse to give a Black customer their money order while accommodating White customers as the Black customer stands by waiting for assistance for over 1 hour, until Western Union customer service closes and the employee walks away without issuing the money order. The Black customer has picked up Western Union Money Orders twice in the past at this location. However, this particularly Safeway employee absolutely refused to issue the the money order citing federal laws prohibited him from doing so. 8PM 23August2014...West Linn, OR Safeway deserves no stars. read more

Ergh, Just ran up to the store to grab a forgotten Thanksgiving item...only to discover that I can get a deal, but only if I have the app. Of course I already have the Safeway card. That does me nothing. I relent, thinking what's one more app. Then when I go to download the stupid thing, it wants my payment info. I have zero interest in giving my credit card info to Safeway, aka Albertsons, just so I can get a deal on butter. It is always a bad experience shopping here. ALWAYS. As of yesterday Im now shopping at Fred Meyer and I live in West Linn. Non existant customer service, an incompetent dangerous pharmacy ( I left their pharmacy long ago), moldy produce, isnt enough for its community to not patronage them then think again...People check your reciepts for constant overcharging.They need to be turned into the State of Oregon weighs and measures department for faulty weighs,They over charge their customers on regular Safeway advertised price, Just for you prices, buy one get one free, weight of produce and meat department. Seems they are skimming everywhere they can. I have on an average of 25 items, 3 will be overcharged on ring up than what is posted. There canned response is wait to the end and it will come off. NO, it does not. I use my Safeway card and take the time to select the discounts ahead of time online which rarely shows up on the register. This happens so frequently, I literaly catch 1-5 items per visit over charged. IF you complain at ring up they send you over to the customer service area where you are punished and now have to wait 30 minutes for someone to come and check your reciept. There, they find the mistake, no apology for taking my valuable time. Watch out for the meat dept especially. 8/25/2020 Frozen Cod in the case sign says $5.99 #, sticker said $6.99 #. Hamburger 80/20 sign said $2.49# sticker said $4.99. This is on a daily basis. I have to take my phone out and take a picture of their signage and show it to the checker. Since these errors are through the store I decided I would weigh my meat, take off the Tar weigh guess what overcharged. People do you know Safeway sits on the board of West Linn city planning and is the one responsible for always stopping another grocery store from coming in. Your monopoly, and price gauging will not be tolerated anylonger at least by me. I apologized to a woman behind me in line a few weeks ago for insisting on the advertized price at check out. She laughed and said Yea, I have to do the same thing. People, start checking your reciepts and making sure you are paying the advertized price. I Guarantee you will find a mistake to their advantage on almost every visit. I asked the meat dept to go and correct his stickers yesterday which he did not. Buyer Beware. Lack of follow through. Lazy work. I finally had it and today switched to another pharmacy due to their incompetence. Too bad they're the only ones in our area. The new pharmacy stated they have many new customers lately reporting similar problems with this particular pharmacy. Not to mention, there is no where to sit comfortably while you wait for your medication. My daughter just had the most terrible experience with this pharmacy. She has a small sick child. The doctor calls in the prescription. It should be ready when she gets there or they should be able to tell her they do not have that medicine. Is this what happened. Of course not. They send her from one line to another while they try to find the order, when they do they tell her it will be ready in 20 minutes. She shops and when she goes back they have filled it with the wrong medicine and then they tell her they don't have what she needs. In the meantime it is suppertime and her child needs the medicine and some food and they are all exhausted. DO NOT EVER USE THIS PHARMACY!. This is not a crank review. I frequent this Safeway store and pretty disappointed in it every time. I find the staff to be very unfriendly and rather rude. The people in the deli department especially are very unprofessional and rude to their customers. Especially Lisa. I went to order a sandwich and when I told her I didn't want one thing that "came with it" she looked at me funny and slammed the toaster oven door. It was very off putting. I have been using this pharmacy for about a year and am ever so frustrated with the incompetence and inefficiency of the pharmacy. I do understand that they have had to take in many more customers due to the Albertson/Haagen store closing at the bottom of Salamo Road, but a company has to learn to 'step up or step aside'. I am assuming Safeway is trying to do a lot more with the same dollar which for Safeway means with the same amount of staff and square footage. The lovely heartwarming ads on television promoting Safeway and their 'family' values has been for the mighty BUCK and always has been. There hasn't been a time when I have EVER walked up to that pharmacy desk when there isn't some customer who is trying to keep their cool and be understanding of the staff, all the while their blood pressure is rising. I can't blame the staff, I think Safeway knows what they SHOULD do, but are as usual protecting their bottom dollar. This is what I think needs to happen: Lease one of the empty sites there in the shopping center and move the ENLARGED pharmacy staff and store to that site. I have moved my numerous Rx's from Oregon City Freddies to this store, but "eff it", after waiting two days for a prescription to be filled and THEN being told when I CALLED THEM just that the whole Safeway warehouse was out of that medication has finally just fried my patience. Absolute WORST sushi I have EVER had in my LIFE!!!!! Consistently poor quality sushi every time I go here. Rice is completely hard and dry. Tastes like it was expired a year ago. When I complained and asked for a refund they acted like it was MY fault. How on earth could anybody find their garbage mediocre sushi palatable? Not to mention it is outrageously overpriced for the lackluster quality that you will be getting. I will never step foot into such an insulting store again!!!! read more
