Not much to really brag about with this Safeway. I'm of course big on customer service so that's a positive, but the full overall experience was just bland. The place wasn't too clean which gives me a horrible vibe. There is a much more expensive alternative across the street "Walgreens". But, of course you get more of a variety at Safeway. So while I visit my uncle I will keep going here I guess. read more

This place hires the most incompetent people to work in their fresh food and deli area. I highly suggest not buying anything there unless you want to spend 14 min waiting because the 2 ladies who work there at a snails pace. read more

Typical Safeway yes... but definitely one of the bigger ones in the area. We live close to about three and this one seems to be the better of the bunch. I agree with the comments about the shady people too, but this seems to be a trend in a lot of areas these days. read more

Worst Safeway experience of my life! It was so bad that writing about it. The cashier was a young guy named David and didn't know what he was doing and was completely rude. I asked him to call over a manager names Katy who didn't help anymore than he did. Be careful that you don't run into those imbesoles when shopping there. Long story short, we all go spend our money here because its convenient but customer service is awful and prices are even that great. I would go to Fred Meyer anyday, will not ever go back here again! You are better off going to the Safeway on Military. They deserve 0 stars! read more

I waited for 20 minutes to have someone help me in the bakery department and had no luck! I even called 3 times to the actual store while I was standing in the store and no one ever answered either!!!!! Worst customer service Ive ever experienced at a grocery store. I finally walked up to the front to see if someone could help me and I was told NO because the bakery closes at 6pm.........that is unacceptable!!!!!! Anyone who works there should be able to take down a simple cake order!!!!!! That store needs some serious work with the staff........it feels like they don't care about the customer, they don't care about the quality of their work and they obviously do not have a store manager that values its staff! I will not be shopping at this store again......I'd rather drive 5 more minutes out of my way to a different Safeway. read more

This Safeway at 270th and Pac Hwy S is 100% always understaffed!! No matter what time of day or what day!! I have been there on a Friday evening when the two lines open were backed up like Disneyland rides in the summer! I'v been there when there are many people in line on a Sunday afternoon and again there is two cashiers and people line up to buy food for the week and they still have no help! I only go in there if I must or want a sale item! Fred Meyer on 252nd and Pac Hwy S is SO Different!! If there are four lines open and they are backed up over two in line, they will always open another line!! They are great!! You will never wait in line there!! Safeway take notice! And all who shop there, take the ten minutes to go to Fred Meyer, You will still be home and unpacked by the time you just reach the front of the line at Safeway! After 20-25 visits there now...NO MORE! read more

I dig their 5 dollars Friday deals that they have. Some of the people outside are a little shady but other then that its a great store.

They have upped their game. Store is way cleaner, staff is nicer, and lines are speedier. They changed something that it made the store look bigger and better. This will be my new safeway. read more

The cashiers here are really nice. But every single time I go here there is a huge line. They are so under staffed. It is very inconvenient when I'm only stopping for one or two items. I've been here 3 times this week since it's close to my house. They need more cashiers. read more

I really enjoy the service here. The cashiers seem to know who we are and they are always very friendly. It is your typical grocery store when it comes to other areas but I get better service here than I do at most other grocery stores. read more

Safeway, every time I shop here it's a horribly long wait. You need to schedule more checkers! Also, I asked three employees about firewood and none of them knew it was outside. So I checked out and saw the firewood on my way out and I had to go back inside and wait in a horrible line a second time! Get it together Safeway. read more

Have shopped at this Redondo Safeway for more than 20 years. Tonight was my last trip there. Tipping point was the Produce Dept at 7:30pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Thought I'd pick up a couple ears of corn and more than half of the display contained black, mushy corn. Literally, it was rotting. Now at 8:30pm there may not have been a Produce Manager in-store, but that corn didn't rot like that in a few hours. Left the corn & thought I'd grab a couple pears. The pears were liquefying & ALL of them were soft & falling apart and fruit flies everywhere! **Since a picture is worth a thousand words I snapped one of the rotting corn and another of the liquefying pears. It truly gave me pause to consider my health if I was to eat something from this produce department. **Having trouble posting pictures so may not show. This particular Safeway has never had high quality produce. Their potatoes are often soft and there is absolutely nothing appealing in their presentation technique. I've complained to a manager a couple times about questionable products but obviously management sees no need to make improvements. When you walk into the Metropolitan Market in West Seattle it is visually appealing and always fresh. The Produce Dept at Des Moines Safeway is very clean and refreshing. This one is a real health hazard. The other thing I'd complain about is they're always short-handed. This past Labor Day, again about 8pm, I waited in line close to 20 minutes to check out. I think that may be the longest wait I've had but 10 or more minutes is very common. People were completely frustrated and just left their carts & walked out. So, I'll have to travel further to shop but Safeway Corporate should be ashamed of this store and it makes me believe they do little to no inspection and have extremely low standards. read more

The staff in this store need to be educated about hygiene. I have spoken with the "store manager" on two separate occasions re: Bakery Staff with colds wiping their noses on the back of their hands while handleing product. The same goes with check-out staff. Hand wiping their runny noses while working the check out register. Gross!!! They just don't get it read more

You can head there at 4PM, 6PM, noon. anytime. they only have 2 cashiers. you will wait 15-20 minutes 60% of the time, everytime.

slow slow slow. i had one item and the rude cashier turned me away to stand in ridiculously long lines only to have the next cashier not know how to solve a problem with the costumers card. saw a random basket of meat in the can foods isle, and then i saw some meat on the ground as well. a half eatin piece of chicken was in the candy isle on the shelf. this safeway is a joke read more

This is by far a horrible store when it comes to customer service. Gloria who claims she is a supervisor was apathetic at best. Gloria was rude and did not want to assist me. I later called to speak to the Manager. A female answered and said "I am the supervisor what can I help you?" I asked what was her name and she rudely said "it is Gloria what can I help you with in a irritated voice" I said can I speak to someone else besides you....she quickly interrupted me and said well like I said "I am the only manager here you can call back tomorrow and ask for Renee" speaking so fast I could not understand her. So I again said who am I asking for she loudly repeated her name as if I was deaf "HER NAME IS RENEE" Gloria needs to learn how to deal with people and hey I get it maybe she was busy but customers are the reason we stay in business as a retail establishment. I also work in retail and would be mortified if my employees treated our customers in this manner. Gloria definitely needs some in the moment coaching on Customer Service. Then I tried to call customer service and was on hold for 14 minutes, I finally hung up. read more
