Came here because of insurance and I waited for my windshield to be replaced they said it would take an hour but it took them an hour to just move my car to the work area (fair enough the day is slow moving). When they were working on the cars, I just heard an employee complaining and cursing about doing the job and about how people are rescheduling appointments and how he has too much to do...just the kind of thing that shouldn't be heard from the lobby area. He complained so loudly and for so long that I felt the need to come write a review. Very poor customer service and the job overall. It took them all day to get the job done despite the fact that front desk said I should be able to pick it up between 3 and 5pm. I've got a one and only call after 6pm which is after working ours for the shop to come and pick the car up. I was wary of taking uber to get there and turn around but I had a spare key so I was gonna take the car anyway if it was done. When I got there the front desk was closed and some employee was mowing carts with vehicle glass inside. When I told him I'm here for the pickup he said we are closed I was gonna take my car anyway but some other employee came out with my key. This place is a shit show. It's obvious there's no communication between employees nor employee meetings are being held for awareness and coordination. Whoever is a manager there deserves to be fired for the shitshow he is running. Unfortunately I had to go there due to my insurance. Very disappointed with Safelite in Williamsburg. First I waited hours for my tech to show up after receiving the text saying they were on the way. Tried getting in touch with the shop which you can't get to directly and I kept getting a customer service center. Finally someone from the shop called and said that the tech Kota tried calling and left voicemails to get in touch but I never received anything, so they had to reschedule. Funny how she was able to get here the next time without needing to contact me. Spent maybe 2 minutes and came back telling me that after looking my tiny nickel size crack (that did not spread), my windshield needed to be replaced. Scheduled for replacement and when they came out to replace, they said my insurance deductible was not verified. Why not tell me this ahead of time to make sure I could have that taken care of prior to my appt. Contacted my insurance and they said all the info had been sent to the shop. They told me they still didn't receive it, so I had to reschedule yet again (4th time). Rescheduled, then get a call the night before saying they did not have a mobile tech that day and needed to reschedule yet again. Needless to say, they are not getting my business any longer and I decided to go with another glass repair shop! read more

It's never a happy event when your Brand New Baby catches a stone thrown into the windshield, 1600 miles from home during the Christmas holidays. But thank goodness for USAA and SAFELITE (the glass shop at 2215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg VA 23185. The Techs did a great job -- installing a new windshield and re-calibrating all the windshield-associated sensors. I and "BERYL" ( my spiffy new 2024 Toyota VENZA. named for the Category Five Hurricane that made landfall in Texas about the time that my VENZA and I first met last July) were looking and seeing well right on time. This is what a monopoly looks like. No accountability to customer service. They're nice enough, but they're incredibly slow. Sitting in here now, 6 minutes after closing, over an hour after I was told my car would be done "in no time at all." One just left, so there are three of us in here still waiting. I wish I hadn't let my ride leave based on their assurances. Edit to add: still here 20 minutes later. The jokers pulled another car behind mine, so the tech couldn't get mine out. Now he has to drive it around to check the recalibration. Wasted probably 10 minutes just sitting here because they couldn't move the vehicle blocking mine in, as it was also going through a recalibration. They are ridiculous. read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business. I made an appointment and dropped my car off and they call me hours later after I have already gotten into work and tell me that the glass that they ordered was all scratched so they couldnt use it so I had to come and pick up my car. The next week the glass comes in so I come to take it in again. they called back hours later again and told me my tesla had to be charged to 65% to work on it . Noone told me this at all when I had made the appointment . I had to leave my work and go charge it and bring it back . I had this done in a matter of less than 45 minutes. I called them and told them that I had charged my car and they said they could finish it today. I called a second time for an update and they said they didnt even know I had brought it back and it would be done before the end of the work day. They close at 5 and I called so many times an hour before they closed and noone answered , a lady kept answering and put me on hold until they shut their phones down at 5 pm. I got a call at 5:40 pm saying they just started to work on my car and it would only take an hour. I am sitting here at 7:35 pm , they keep pushing back my time. They have no idea what they are talking about here , the techs are incompitent and give the wrong details and the receptionists are incompitent and this company at this location has a major quality control issue. do not bring your car here . I should have checked the reviews before I came here . They have not apologized at all or done anything to try to make this situation right. read more

Needed to replace the windshield of our Toyota minivan. Covered by insurance. Made appointment with the Williamsburg, VA, Safelite. Took a while for the part to come in, and the wait at the shop was longish, appointments there seem to be rather "approximate". I could deal with all that, wasn't in a hurry. Insurance paid for everything, no problems there. However, the work wasn't done right. There was a VERY noticeable wind noise coming from the bottom of the windshield on passenger side now. Took the car back to complain. Tech came out, poked around and "adjusted" the rubber gasket by hand out in the parking lot. Told me to "give it a try". (He couldn't be bothered to try himself, huh?) Unsurprisingly, no improvement AT ALL. It was like driving with the window open a crack. Took it back, complained again. This time they took the car in the bay, poked and prodded around the windshield (never taking it off, never driving the car to check anything), and finally gave it back to me "all fixed". Yeah, right. Again, no change AT ALL. Still an unmistakable loud whoosh starting around 35 mph. Gave up. I'm used to the noise now. Waiting for the next rock to hit so I can get it done properly elsewhere. Williamsburg Safelite = lousy workmanship & unable or unwilling to fix their own mistakes. read more

This is the worst company I've ever run across for customer care. It isn't possible to speak with a human or even a good AI. If you get a quote online you have to choose options for your vehicle that are confusing and then choose what kind of service you want, standard, premium or glass without an explanation of what each service offers and the difference between them. Choices are required to move forward. There is no way to ask for clarification or assistance. I tried for over an hour to get any kind of help. A company that refuses to speak to customers is no place to do business, even if the price was the best. Safelite was nearly $200 more than any other glass company and no explanation for why. I will pay more if it's justified by better service, quality or customer care, Safelite has none of these. read more

I needed my Windshield fixed and for some reason they scheduled me in Hampton, Va and now my service has been delayed yet again and trying to speak with a supervisor is like trying to speak to the wall. I had been broken my passenger window and received excellent service. When it happened I went down there to get plastic over my window. They got me in a timely matter so that I could get to work. Mike who is the manager was in constant contact with me apart my parts. One part came in before the other, they had offered to do the work before the but I wanted to wait to get it all down at the same time. The staff was amazing. We had a small 0.25" ding in our front windshield and called our insurance company to find out about their free window crack repair offer. That program is run through Safelite, and we scheduled an appointment with them for the repair. While performing the repair, they ended up just expanding the crack to about 8" long and told us that we needed to replace the entire window, and that we would owe them nearly $500 for the replacement. It did not seem possible we could be billed for their mistake, but supposedly we were informed of this policy (we were not) and it was printed in the brochure we were supposedly given as well (we were not given one). It seems pretty clear why they would now offer this "free" repair service. That free repair now will cost us $500 (though we will not be using Safelite to make the repairs, I assume many people still go ahead and use them to fix the windows Safelite themselves damaged). We cannot get as much as an apology from the company. They simply say "you were informed of the risks," even though they were not. It's is also peculiar that they would not require you to sign a waiver so they can prove you were informed of the risks. Nothing on their website either. Very much feels like we got scammed. Edit: Seeing Safelite's response, yes, I now do see this on the website. Very curious that it is not provided anywhere on the description of the windshield repair service nor in any of the videos you put out about your process. Instead, it is on the "fine print" of the warranty about what your warranty does not cover. Yep! Now feels even more like we got scammed. This is not the way a reputable company does business. If a customer is taking a risk using your service, you need to be much more up front with them about that risk. You state it up front (better yet, get them to sign something acknowledging that risk, like other businesses). I should not have to read multiple pages into a website in the exceptions to warranty coverage. It's quite the business model that Safelite has created here. The more windows they "accidentally" break giving "free" repairs, the higher their revenue. read more

We had a great experience here!! We had just purchased a used truck and while in the highway a large rock went flying from another vehicle and hit my windshield. When I inspected it I saw a crack. We took it in and instead of charging me for the visit the tech informed me that the hole had already been repaired and that the rock hit hadn't actually done anything. I was super happy with his honesty and he even cleaned any smudges off the car from all our examining the windshield. I know where we will go for any future issues! read more

Completely horrible business.. Had a small chip that I wanted to get filled for free through insurance and went to safelite. The technician pulled out with my vehicle and asked if it was mine. He told me that when he got back to my vehicle the R-head machine that they used had fallen off and the windshield was broken. He went to go talk to his manager and came back to tell me that it would be $500 to replace through my insurance. I cannot understand why you would walk away from a vehicle if you are working on it with a machine that causes pressure and could fall off. I called the customer service for this issue and I was told that the District manager would call me. I waited for two days and then called again. I was told that there was an email sent to the DM and they would send another. Again, I waited for a call back and never heard anything. A week later I called and got the same thing. Then I called again two days later (at this point on the second week) and told the customer service about how long I have waited and how I was not happy with my service. Later that day I received a call from a manager (not the DM) who was looking into the issue and talked to the store about it. The next day he called and basically told me that it was the machines fault and there was nothing they would do. I will never go back to them. How did they make a business model around "let us break your windshields and make you pay for it" and call themselves "SAFElite". They are a joke. If you can, stay away from this joke. Yeah this could be a one off, but with the other bad reviews I see on here I am not alone in this. read more

When I came in, person with no experience, said she could not locate appointment, she could not tell if windshield was there, could not reschedule the appointment and said I should talk to manager who was vacation, All the time texting on her phone. Girl races to pull the Jeepster outta the garage. Benjamin, in all his glory, alreay has the new glass out and ready to go. I pull Jeepster out and under a big shade tree, grab Benjamin a mango bubbly water and the man installs a new windshield in my 2002 Jeep in under 15 minutes. BOOM! Benjamin is a professional and a really nice guy. I enjoyed just chatting with him while he worked. It is technicians like Benjamin from Hampton that make life a joy. A technician was scheduled to come replace my windshield between 8-12. I received a phone call at 8:30 telling me that she was on her way. At 11:30, no one had arrived so I attempted to call. No answer and can't leave voicemail. I then called the main number and they attempted to call her. No answer for them either. They gave me the number to the shop and miraculously she answered when her manager called. They stated she would arrive in a couple of hours. 3 hours after the appointment time. I cancelled with them and booked with someone else. Apparently communicating with customers and actually showing up is not a priority for them. read more

I needed my windshield repaired and wanted it done on my day off. I only found one place that could do it that day, an hour away in Williamsburg. I thought the damage was bad enough that I would need a new windshield, but the guidelines on the online scheduler said, smaller than 6 inches, repair. I tried to call and ask, but the shop phone number only took me to the online scheduler, even tho it was during work hours. So I set up the appt and went. Once there, they told me that the damage was too bad, I would need a new windshield, and that I would have to come back in a week! Nowhere on the website does it say that if they are unable to make the repair, you have to completely reschedule. So they leave the damage assessment up to the car owner? A rock hit our SUV front window, and while the initial crack was really small, it quickly spread. I've used Safelite before in another state with great results, and figured I'd give them another go. The process for making an appointment is rather confusing. If you make it online it picks an open time in advance and then it stated to drop it off between 7:30 and 10:00am. I got there at 7:20 to hopefully be the first in line. The office did not open until 8am. I asked the lady when she showed up and she stated that it always says that on the confirmation and that she had told her superiors about it but they can't change it. That seems unacceptable to me. Then, I find out that basically they will fit my car in sometime during the day and i might not get it till 5pm. She said that if I wanted to make a scheduled appointment I had to do that differently. This was not explained online. I left with my car and am going elsewhere. I had a crack on my front drivers side window and had it replaced about 8 months ago on my 2017 CTS Cadillac. My widow would not go up. Went back had a new one installed. This one doesn't work either. They told me it would take time for it to work properly. Just went back a few weeks ago. They told me that they need to order one from GM and would call me back. They don't have a phone number to the Williamsburg shop so I call the 800 number and can't take with anyone. They will not return my call. I guess I'm going to have to give my Insurance co. a call and give them hell. I should of just took my car to Cadillac dealership. I'm very disappointed in safelite. read more

A rock hit my windshield on the highway. This caused my car to not pass inspection due to all the lines coming off the star. They had a windshield to fit my car in stock and scheduled a same day appointment. I was in at 2:00pm and was out by 2:45pm. I was very pleased with the service. I'm not sure why my windshield is always getting hit with rocks but this is the second time within 6 months. As soon as I noticed my most recent crack in my windshield I immediately submitted a claim thru my insurance company and they partner with Safelite to do repairs. I set a same day appointment to get my window fixed in the parking lot of my job but it was beginning to rain so they rescheduled for the following day which is understandable. The next morning the Safelite tech Misty reached out to me to confirm my appointment and she was there in the parking lot first thing in the morning! She went over all the details and gave me realistic expectations of what could potentially happen during the repair based off the location of the crack. I let her do her thing and she came back 30 minutes later with job all done! She did an excellent job and my window looks great. I noticed she wiped down the rest of my windows too so that was nice of her. The gentleman Ed who did my repair 6 months ago also did a great job! Love the service from this company. read more

First I want to say they charged us SO much money for the windshield. About $550. They told us it will be covered under a lifetime warranty no matter what so we went with it. Well, when they came to replace the windshield, they charged us a fee for them coming out to meet us. This is literally the brand of Safelite. They will come to you. So that itself was the first screw over. Then they charged us a disposal fee when my husband has a huge trash can a few feet away that he himself could trash it but they didn't allow that. That's the second screw over. We were not told of these additional charges until they were actually there replacing the windshield. Literally 2 days later we pulled out our drive way and started going down our street. About 10-15mph. A tiny rock flew up and cracked the windshield! We thought we got a defective windshield! So we called them up, the lady said to us that it would be covered under the lifetime warranty, and that they didn't have it in stock so we had to wait. Took weeks for it to come in stock. When they came to "replace" the windshield again the tech guy told us that if there is a crack, or even a small scratch on the windshield, they CANNOT replace it. Apparently the warranty is for the seal which was never disclosed to us! Well, our seal was messed up too but he still couldn't touch the windshield because the same rules applied. It had a crack (or even a tiny scratch) they couldn't touch it even if the seal was messed up! Totally ridiculous. Safelite lied and told us false information before we purchased, during our waiting time (multiple times) and then the tech guy told us the truth. He even said he cannot touch it and if he did it would come out his paycheck! He literally told us that the windshield glass they use is not strong like the manufacturer glass!! Like what am I paying you this much for then!? Don't buy from them. Their "Safelite brand" is not what it seems. I only gave them 1 star because I couldn't leave 0 stars. read more

I was on vacation in Colonial Williamsburg and my rear view mirror fell off! I drove over to Safelite and they glued it back on immediately. Best of all....no charge!!!
