Our first frustration was rescheduling three times - first because of weather (which turned out to be nothing), then because the part was not in stock, and then because the part that was in stock got broken when a tech bumped into it. Then when they finally did the glass replacement, they were not able to do the calibration because of wind. My husband had to drive 20 minutes to the shop, and the process took less than 10 minutes. About 35 days later, our vehicle dashboard showed several warning signs. We reached out to Safelite to see about the warranty, another frustrating process. After several phone calls and an email, including being promised a call back within 48 hours which never came, we were told the warranty was good for only 30 days. We ended up taking our vehicle to our local mechanic, where they recalibrated the camera at a cost of $220. A+ Customer Service Thanks for the peace of mind We were driving on the highway when a rock hit the windshield, right on the edge of the driver's side. Two cracks sprung out from that point and slowly spread until they were about 12" and seemed to stop. We Googled the nearest repair shop, which was Safelite in Ephrata. An employee came out to the parking lot immediately and reviewed the damage free of charge. He explained to us clearly about the composition of the windshield, advised that it was safe to continue driving but a replacement was needed, and why a repair couldn't be done in our case. He gave us his thoughts on the turnaround time for ordering the part and cost/insurance. He didn't try to sell us on anything and it felt like a discussion with a concerned friend. When calling to make my appointment I was told the trucks have equipment so that they are able put a windshield in even in inclement weather. The day I was scheduled the technician showed up and said that they could not put the windshield in because it was going to rain. Day 1 wasted! I was R/S for a week out. It took the tech almost 4 hours to put my windshield in! Day 2 wasted! A couple of nights later I get onto I-83 in Harrisburg and my windshield wipers quit working! I was STUCK along a dangerous part of the highway, it's dark and it's pouring! Needless to say, I'm so glad I had Triple A. The tow truck driver was able to get them working, but only for a few miles because on my way home they began working intermittently (one side would work, then only the other side, then vice versa), until a couple of miles from home when they went out completely! Now that is Day 3 (or night wasted)! The next day I borrowed a car and drove to Safelite in Ephrata to tell them what happened and just how how upset I was! I requested to speak to a Regional Manager (because I had never heard back from anyone regarding my original complaint - when I was told that they could do it in inclement weather). I could NOT drive my car! It was raining that day too! Now I'm up to day 4! A tech was then sent out and fixed the wipers that were not properly attached/ or screwed back on in the first place, after being taken off the original windshield. NO! I will not recommend Safelite to ANYONE! That was the WORST service I have ever experienced! Yes, the Regional Manager eventually called me later that day and I received a verbal apology. Four days had been wasted! Unbelievable! People do work and need their car to get to work! Again, Unbelievable!!! read more
