I regret hiring Safeguard Roofing. They should be called No-Frills Roofing. I had my roof changed by them 5 years ago and have just found a rotten fascia and a rotten plywood above it. The owner's response was just have a stucco guy cover it. That really ticked me off. I am having another roofer change the plywood and the fascia, not covering the mess. I understand the rotten fascia is my responsibility but not the rotten plywood above it. Below is a photo of the rotten plywood taken from below where the crumbled fascia created a big gap and a photo from the roof when another contractor was replacing it and sealing everything so that the rain water flows into the gutter and not on the fascia board. If you are so keen on hiring this contractor I would recommend having a backup to take care of the mess afterwards. read more

I have hired many contractors over the years, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. From the very beginning, this company took advantage of what they knew was not an urgent situation. I was traveling abroad and my wife alone at the house was told the problem was very critical and required immediate attention, creating pressure to move forward without being given a clear explanation of the work. After the first visit, the technician spent less than two hours at my house and left. Only after I complained, sent photos showing that the repair was very poorly executed (see pictures), and asked for an explanation of the work, did they tell me that it had only been a "temporary patch" (something that was never explained to us beforehand). The story kept changing after every complaint we made, which completely destroyed my confidence in the company. They eventually, they sent us a breakdown just saying parts$650, labor $1350 and a month later returned to "finish" the repair, and when they did the crew was at my house for, again, about two hours. I have no issue paying a fair labor charge for a work well performed (was not the case), BUT, since it was our fault accepting that, I really questioned being charged $650 for parts when the primary replacement part was a standard galvanized gooseneck roof vent that retails for roughly $80, along with some underlayment and sealant. Even after asking, I still have not received a satisfactory explanation or itemized breakdown of the material costs. What disappointed me the most was John's attitude when I asked reasonable questions all we got were threatens of lien and etc, Instead of providing documentation and answering my concerns professionally, I felt intimidated and pressured into accepting the invoice without explanation. A reputable contractor should have no problem providing an itemized invoice and explaining their charges. I've met my share of dishonest people over the years, but this experience ranks among the worst. If a company becomes defensive or hostile simply because a customer asks for an explanation of a bill, that's a major red flag. Do yourself a favor, get multiple estimates before hiring this company. Ask for an itemized quote, ask for proof of the work performed, and don't let anyone pressure you by exaggerating the urgency of a repair. I just did not expect to need to do so with a new roof. And, if your employees are aware of your strict policy of using public restrooms, you have an employee who completely disregards your policies. I cannot even get past the two salesman's that I had to deal with. They were doing nothing but hard selling me. You're buying from a call-center it seems like. they actually feel like you're dealing with a car salesman. They're just all trying to make the most on the deal. My estimate changed every time I called increasing every time. I even spoke to the general manager and he said he would have another salesman call me well a month and a half pass by no new salesman and the new salesman upped the prices by $2000. This company is a mess and had I read all of the reviews before I probably would've never made that second call. They think that all of their sales tactics about shortages and them gaslighting you is going to work and is really going to scare you into signing a contract and locking in the " deal ." Stay away from this company. We signed a contract for a certain amount and ended up paying 2k over because they lied about permit pricing and facia costs. They started the job ripping off the old roof, and when they finished for the day, we realized that removed all our gutters. And threw them away. I asked them why, they said it's in our contract and we always do that. There was nothing in our contract. They lied over and over. After ripping of old roof, they did not cover the roof with a tarp, and now we have interior damage from the rain. This experience is the worst that I have had with any contractor. This had been a long and stressful job which is still not completed. I have had shingles/tar and equipment sitting on my roof for almost two months not to mention a ladder that sits outside my living room window as well. I keep calling and no one seems to know what is going on or tells me that it is not their department. I keep getting told that they will finish by this day and then no one shows up or calls or anything. This is infuriating, by far the worst experience by any company. Ill start this off by saying I hate roofing companies because I thought they were all the same. Reading these reviews there's gotta be another side of the story because my personal experience has been nothing but positive. Once permits obtained they came and tore out old tile and got to work. His men always left the place in decent condition - mind you can't expect anyone to clean every nail off your lawn. The tile took a while but because of the delays from manufacturer and once it arrived those things went up faster than you could count to three. My tiles are gorgeous. Everyone who walks by stops to talk about our roof. They did another house in my neighborhood and they are just as pleased. They are responsive and even the workers are mindful guys. I don't know if my roof is of any quality. If my roof reflects the quality of customer service I received, then I am screwed. The ability to get any information on my roofing process or help with the myriad of damage to my property I had in the process after the sales guy turned me over to the installation team was so disappointing. They didn't clean up and I had roofing refuse left everywhere in my bushes. I had circles of dangerous nails left after clean up on my walkways, I had damage to sprinklers, and a hole in my poured concrete wall that they slopped some concrete on to fix. When the paperwork for the city got wet (because the bag containing documents and photos got left open and the sprinklers hit it), they told me it was my responsibility to dry it out to move forward. I called and emailed and even was given someone to text and nobody got back to me via telephone, email, or text for any of these issues in a timely manner. I mean weeks went by. I had to clean the roofing refuse up myself and multiple attempts to get anyone out to pick it up took weeks. They lost checks, they couldn't keep track of my timeline. Staff actually said "Well Ms. Meyer, if we responded proactively to every customer, then we would not get anything done." They had NO time for me and I needed help from them. They threatened liens on my property when I complained or asked for an adjustment to my final bill for all of this trouble. I do not recommend them. Safeguard roofing INC I contracted this company out of Pompano Beach back in 03/27/2022, initially everything look promising good relationships with I think he's the VP of sales name Jay, he produced the contract that was reasonably; the way is structured is, payment 1 is 10% at signature 2 at removal of old roof 50% 3rd 30% when shingles are delivered and final at final approval from the city. My problems started right after the removal of old roof & application of the initial cover sheets, the city was set for first inspection a failed because they didn't complete what is call wall flashing, they don't replace it, they had to replace it, with the detriment to my self that they filled my pavers with tar, I also noticed that they didn't replace what is call edge drip, I comunícate this to them also I wanted to be brown, their answer was no no we replaced with a white because of supply change issues, basically they were gaslighting me because my original edge drip was more like yellowish, also suggested that I contracted a local HM and paint it. Second breach of contract. And finally they send an email saying that my shingles were ordered in April 2022 and that takes with backorders about 4 months, again gaslighting me because that made think that if they order in April + 4 months they would be in August this was already the end of July; so no big deal they also requested the 3rd payment I really didn't give much thought because was going to be a short wait, nop after I proceeded to pay that 30% and the same day check was cleared got the final deceiving news your shingles estimate delivered day October 1 2022, meaning they never order the shingles in April. So for all of this reason I will definitely will not recommend this company. read more

Worst company, once you sign with them all the niceties are over. Quoted one price, signed all the papers and everything became an up charge. It took forever about five months total. The accounting department and the service department were extremely rude. They never return phone calls, if they did respond to an email they would respond in caps. Definitely would not recommend this company. Wound up costing $3000 over my original proposal plus they overcharged me because I went with Pace financing and I had to fight with them about that. They installed the roof wrong, wouldn't come out to fix it until we threatened them with legal action, they didn't respond for weeks so we had to go with another provider. Let me start by saying if I could give zeros I would. I have never experienced such poor customer service and have never seen a company perform such horrible practices. Including the fact that no one on the crew spoke English, I don't mean to be crass but they should have at least been able to communicate with the clients. We are a bilingual home we just don't speak Spanish, we speak Hebrew.And it was imperative that they could speak to us because no body at the office (John, Cheri, or Scott) ever answered our calls. texts or emails.From the beginning I simply asked them to notify me when they would be arriving and not once did they listen to this request. I asked for this courtesy because I have 5 kids who are home alone at times as I have to work and I wanted to make sure my children are aware that there will be workers at the home. Things only continued to get worse from there. The tear off crew left a mess of nails everywhere (I had to pull one out of my son's foot). And I am still removing tar from my driveway. The crew that put on the shingles showed up at 6 am on a Saturday with no call and left garbage everywhere. Then they failed several inspections. Once for not having the needed pictures documenting the progress on the roof. I have a video proof of the workers removing the pictures from the inspection bag that is to be left out front, yet the company tired to say we removed the pictures. Upon informing them that we have proof of their crew removing the pictures they put pictures of a roof that was not mine in my inspection bag. Since they had no pictures to prove they did the work they claimed they did they told us they now needed to cut a hole in my finished roof to take pictures and leave the spot exposed until an inspector could show up. I refused because at the time in my area there were severe weather warnings and it was right before Christmas and no one would be available until after the new year. They proceeded to tell me I had no choice and they will come back while I was gone and cut the hole anyway. We contacted local counsel and were informed to send an email advising them that they were not allowed to come back to the property and to call the police to document the situation. So we did. And the next day they came anyway when we were not home and cut into my roof.They were creeping around my property and parked up the road as to not be seen because they knew at this point they were trespassing. When my daughters that were home noticed what they were doing they told them to leave. They told my girls with their blades in their hands "to bad we cut anyway" and proceeded to damage my property by cutting a hole. Not 5 minutes later it poured and I had an exposed hole in my roof. The water ran into the attic vents which ran into the poured concrete wall then onto interior wall Now I have damage to my home, the exact reason why I did not the hole cut into my roof. I am at my wit's end with my company. How dare they just cut a hole in my roof when I refused that????? How can it be okay to damage property????? Well it isn't !!!!! And it is why we are taking them to civil court and would never recommend this company to anyone EVER!!!!! BE WARNED DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

I went to contract with safeguard roofing of Pompano Beach in early August of 2017, they didn't start the project until October 7th of 2017. Per the contract the job was supposed to be completed by October 31st of 2017, as I write this my roof is still not done. When they started on that day (saturday) their workers plugged numerous generators into the outlets of my house without my permission and blew numerous electrical outlets in my house which caused a large loss of appliances (i.e. my stove i can't used the oven, two microwaves, my house phones, a toaster oven, my clocks, and replacement of electrical outlets, a ceiling fan, bathroom fan,) all these items had to be either replaced or repaired, the total invoice bills came to $1775.00 still to this date i don't have use of my appliances. When the incident occurred I did bring it to the attention of the cite supervisor who was never on cite during the whole time, but came back later. I then brought the issue to the owner of the company and asked for the name of safeguard insurance company, he refused to give me that information. He started rushing me for the invoices for the repairs and new purchased to replace items. I did send him all the invoices, then he emails me back stating that he has to go through them, but in the mean time I haven't been able to cook in my oven nor use my microwaves. I had to come out of pocket myself to get things started to be fixed. Then after sending the owner all the invoices, I get a email requesting me to sign a amendment to the contract. Which stated that $450.00 more dollars for wood that he had to purchase and $ 613.00 more dollars for a new permit, I requested him to send me pictures of the replacement of the wood that was never done. So why does he want more money? All the work should still fall under the umbrella of the first permit? Which I refused to sign the amendment, and then another text regarding my tiles for my roof. Now all this come's after I sent him all the invoices for the repairs and replacements of the appliances etc. Again the project was supposed to done by the 31st day of October. So I believe that I have a preach of the contract!!! I had somebody check the facia boards that they installed, there was no 1/2 gap space between the wood. I noticed that they used white caulking on some of the wood too. I did bring that to their attention, no response from them. I was advised by my neighbor that safeguard roofing was doing another house in my development and caused major damage to the ceiling inside that house. another house went to contract after I did and there roof is almost done. This company is picking and choosing who's house to finish and who to charge more too, they don't abide by the contract they are on there own schedule. Where do I start ? I hired safeguard roofing for a new roof , financing was done through pace. Safeguard was professional until I signed the contract . After final inspection was done Jon was harassing me for signature of contract so his payment can be released through pace . (Per pace homeowner does not have to sign contract until fully satisfied with work. After a few months and looking at highest elevation of the fascia for the roof I still have ROTTED fascia . So I decided to check the rest of fascia as per contract I signed all rotted fascia to be replaced . I found more ROTTED fascia . I contacted safe guard and was transferred to Jon. I explained to Jon my concerns and Jon asked me to to take pictures and email them to him . I suffered a back injury in 2012 , I did not feel comfortable to get on an extension ladder to take pictures of the work that I paid over 14,000 for a new roof ! Jon was very adamant on having me taking the pictures . Jon being the General Manager should've came to my home and address the issue . I highly do not recommend this company ! RUNNNNN! The owner still has not contacted me . And neither has Pace . I am shopping around other roofing companies to replace ROTTED fascia . Safeguard Roofing is not worth having a lean on you home !
