Allyson (Safe Waves Swim) is the BEST! At my 3yr old's trial lesson, she had him floating on his back on his own. At the 1st official lesson, she had him jumping in the pool and flipping over to his back to float COMPLETLEY UNASSISTED! I seriously can't believe how fast she taught him! In full disclosure, in Summer 2023, we enrolled him in a water wings class for 2 months. In Summer 2024, we signed him up with a different 1 on 1 private instructor for a few months. So, my son had familiarity with swim lessons, but he had never been able to float or do much of anything on his own in the water. I mean, he is still working on blowing water bubbles becuase he hates putting his face in the water. So, to see Allyson *magically* had him doing all this with 2 lessons... I mean, I have no words to express my appreciation! She knows what she is doing! She is teaching life saving skills first! And she has a totally laid back and straight forward, no nonsense demeanor that I just respect so much! You go through different in water safety progressions with your child and continue with her until they're not only water safe but she teaches your kids how to swim also! Both of my sons have worked with her over the last 10 months, and the progress they have made is tremendous. My daughter had been in swim lessons for two full summers, starting at 2 1/2 years old, and never even got close to even dipping her head under water, let alone swimming or floating independently. I can't say enough great things about Allyson and Safe Waves Swim School. We started lessons somewhere else previously and didn't even finish the package we bought as there were only parent and me classes for my toddler age group kids, and there was not discernable difference from one lesson to the next. My kids could have potentially increased their comfort in the water, however, that is something I could do myself. I wanted water safety and them to be able to swim. I have genuinely seen improvement in my kids abilities in every single lesson once we started with Allyson. She has a natural way with them and natural lesson progression. She was kind enough to offer my kids to split the time among them because we only had one 30-minute lesson spot. Each lesson they each did only 15 minutes with her, and still their skills grew by leaps and bounds each lesson. I would send videos to family and they would be impressed and I would say- this is only nine 15-minute lessons! We have now had 17 lessons (each kid getting 15 minutes each time, they are 3.5 and 5) and they are building confidence and swimming independently short distances! There are still things to work on with them, and I love knowing Allyson will not waste her or my time in continuing to get them where they need to be. She has also offered advice about different swim scenarios when my kids were hesitant to practice their skills in a pool other than hers, and after following her advice my kids were much more comfortable. Most recently, my kids were at a friends house in the pool with me and their friends and they confidently tested their skills in that pool. The look of pride on my son's face was priceless. I wanted my 3 year old daughter to be able to swim so I wouldn't have to be on edge every time we are near a body of water. Miss Allyson got her floating on her back her first lesson, and swimming well enough to reach the edge of the pool by her 8th lesson. The best part is how excited my daughter is to go to her swim class every week. She looks forward to seeing her teacher and improving her skills. My daughter gets cold super fast so it's nice that the pool is heated too. I have a 6 month old that will also be taking lessons here in the summer. I will recommend everyone to Safe Waves.
