Really great harbor, amenities and boating experience, however, $30 for guest parking is excessive!

The marina is a wonder place with nice people. I had a 42 foot boat there for a year.

Much better than Cortez, which seemed a tad run down. Harbor Island had a 30' slip opening up in a week or so and they let us stay at a larger slip until the 30' opened up. I was impressed that they worked with us. There's a nice deli (although pricey but that's to be expected), pool, jacuzzi, and laundry. The only bummer is parking isn't private, but they say they monitor it on special occasions. You can park overnight only if you have a special sticker. Boat owners get a 20% discount at The Boathouse (has gone downhill), and Tom Ham's (which is actually very good). We also get a week at a marina in LA. It's right next to the airport so it's a bit noisy, but I'm a jet junkie so I enjoy watching them take off. Within walking distance to several restaurants, or just a beautiful walk along the bay. Or a nice walk up and down the docks, looking at the beautiful boats.

To the Karen at Harbor Island West Marina:…read more My husband walked me to the showers at Harbor Island West Marina. After I finished showering, I was drying off my shower shoes at the first sink in the women's restroom. A Caucasian woman suddenly walked in, chose the sink right next to me--despite several others being available--and aggressively threw her keys or badge near my area. I found it odd, but tried to brush it off. I walked outside and told my husband, who had been patiently waiting for me. She followed shortly after and walked toward the dock area. Before we left, my husband went to the restroom, and I waited. As we approached the parking lot, I noticed her walking toward me again. Before she even spoke, I had a feeling I knew exactly what was coming--like something straight out of the "Karen" TikToks and Instagram videos I've seen. She rudely and aggressively asked, "Do you have a slip here?" I was caught off guard--shocked this was actually happening. She asked again, as if I didn't hear her the first time. I turned to my husband, unsure of our slip number, and before we could even explain, she escalated her tone and said, "Well, I thought it was weird that you were taking a shower and he was waiting for you. Then he goes into the bathroom, and now you're leaving. I've never seen you here before." My husband (a retired police officer), was waiting for me because there was only one badge for entry between us, so it was not weird at all. We told her that yes--we do have a slip. My husband has actually been staying here for nearly three weeks. She continued to insist that our presence was "weird," and said, "I watch out for this place." As a Filipino and person of color, I have never experienced racism so directly. The way she treated us--her assumptions, accusations, and tone--made me feel deeply disgusted and unwelcome. If this is how she treats strangers who don't look like her, I can only imagine how she treats others.

Happily Ever After Reception at Marina Village was amazing…read more We booked their largest venue hall that host 300 people. It's an upstairs-downstairs venue but no elevator. They do a great job disclosing that. This venue is located right off the marina so there's several photo opportunities as well. The parking is ample. This particular hall had a bathroom upstairs and downstairs. There's a full bar area, serving area, and the layout is yours to do with. They provide tables, chairs, but no dance floor because there's wooden floors. If you're considering an even, check them out. They have several halls and rooms to choose from for any of your events.

Marina Village: What can I say? This was one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever…read morehad. The lack of communication and the miserable spirit in that office are shocking. Before I continue, I do want to mention the woman sitting in the corner--I believe she works on the corporate side. She was a delight to work with and a breath of fresh air compared to the two miserable women who share the office with her.Let's start with your very first interaction when you walk through the door. The receptionist is essentially Wednesday Addams on downers. She has absolutely no personality and is not welcoming at all. I don't know if she and her desk mate went to the same class for blank expressions and terrible customer service, but they provide the absolute bare minimum. Talking to the receptionist on the phone is like pulling teeth without anesthetic. I don't know who hired these people. I don't care if you're miserable because the venue is falling apart and will probably be torn down soon; you still have a job to do. That job is to provide customer service, answer questions, and be polite. She fails in all of those areas. Now for the main event: Roslyn. This woman is the most miserable person I've ever met in my entire life. She is the absolute queen of blank stares, dismissiveness, entitlement, and withholding information. She is a curmudgeon who never has a good day, even when she tries to fake a smile. She was the absolute worst to work with. If we didn't have to hold our specific event here, I would have cussed her out or pulled her over the desk.I don't know if this woman thinks we can read her mind. We don't do her job, so we don't automatically know the required steps for planning an event at this venue. Yet, every single question seems to be a massive problem for her. Every breath she takes seems like a chore. She is one of those people who clearly hates coming to work every day, and she makes sure everyone who crosses her path feels that misery.I have worked with a lot of venues and put together many events. When I say I have never worked with a staff so miserable and incompetent, I mean it. Whoever is doing the hiring probably needs to be fired too, because this attitude is consistent across the board. I have watched them deal with other customers, and they treat everyone with the exact same miserable attitude day in and day out. When you're planning an event almost a year in advance, you have to contact the venue numerous times. You might think they just had a bad day, but no--every single day is a bad day for them.Management needs to do something about this. The way they treat customers is horrendous. I truly hope they meet someone worse than them in their own lives so they can see how frustrating it is to deal with that level of incompetence.Look, I know the venue probably offers a great rate, but you get what you pay for. You are definitely getting a Dollar Tree experience at Marina Village. My advice: keep looking. Do not give your money to a place where you are not appreciated or even acknowledged. It's just ridiculous. I don't even have the words to fully express my frustration with this venue and the two trolls at the front Also in the rooms : Old smelling musty rooms Dirty stained and torn "provided" chairs Several of the attendance to include myself left with FLEA BITES ! Carpet is old and musty and dirty in the rooms that were not previously "Ranch Events" spaces . They upgraded the spaces prior to not resigning the lease apparently . But you will be paying 3X the price for those rooms. Good luck if you want to risk it

I was docked there for 1 1/2 years, and in that time saw a minimum of 5 contracted liveaboards (all there prior to Mike's employment) kicked out without warning. One was docked across from me, had been "friends" with Mike in the past, and woke up one morning with a 30 day notice to move 2 boats! Another was an older lady, late 70s, that had been there 12 years or more before Mike - And she was removed because he "did not want someone dying in his docks." - quoted verbatim. She had nowhere to go and thankfully the dock master extender her stay an extra month - such a kind heart. My theory is he was kicking people out in order to free up transient spots for boujie boats to pocket money for himself. Communication is terrible, they closed the dock deli - and never reopened another for the last year I was there. They over charge for "ammenities" of one small pool that is constantly infested with ducks and gym locker showers. I came to the dock one time and discovered He had plugged another boat into my electrical booth - and refused to reimburse. Prices also went up without warning. My e-bike (locked) was almost stolen off of my car in the parking lot but "nothing was seen" on camera. Other marinas are 1/3 the cost, have Dock Masters that care about their clientele and tenants, and don't go on power trip rampages disregarding the quality of lives of paying customers following ALL guidelines. *Go to Driscoll Marina in MBAY - they have secured parking, a great bar with live music, and Jesse is a GREAT dock master that looks out for people.

Wow. What a treat! The place is quiet! The staff is FANTASTIC. The other boaters and people are really friendly. The marina is incredibly well maintained and clean with nice facilities. I think some of the negative reviews on here are from people that either don't park a boat here, or they associated the RV park next to the marina. They are worlds apart and the RV park is going to be closed soon for a Bayfront Convention center. (I have mixed feelings about that, but we'll see what transpires). I feel very secure and safe all the time with a friendly, security staff that watches the place like hawks. The Galley Restaurant / Bar is a blast with live music 4 nights a week, with delicious and reasonably priced food. (Try the Mahi Fish Tacos, OMG!) South Bay is great for sailing with good, consistent wind, no kelp and very little boat traffic. Also notable is the 24 mile, South Shore bike path that goes all around the bay. Wonderful kayaking, wind / kite surfing, water skiing and bird watching. The duck families are super cute as are the Herons, terns and other birds. Supposedly, there is a turtle sanctuary there some where but I haven't found it, yet. It is probably in the Nature Preserve that is just to the north of Chula Vista in National City. However: There are a few cons worth mentioning: It is a LONG trek to the ocean from here through a long, narrow channel. If your main goal is to get out to the ocean and come back same day, you'll be very disappointed. South bay is SHALLOW! If you stray outside of the channels at lower tide, you'll run aground, quickly. Shoals are everywhere! BE careful! If you want a party atmosphere. Don't be a tenant here. It is quiet and boring. (Except for the really fun bar). But you won't find a lot of people getting crazy and naked on the other boats and docks. Go to harbor Island for that. It seems that this is a place where old boats come to die and there seems to be some sad cases of abandonment. There is a pool and hot tub, but they are located at the RV park next door and always full of people. And, supposedly, the pool and hot tub are going away when they demolish the RV park. If you are looking for a Marina with a great pool, this probably isn't the place. I don't do public pools, so that wasn't a factor for me. Overall: Move your boat here, I think you'll be glad you did!
