It has taken me some time to write this review dealing with the grief of losing a pet. My wife and…read morehad been dealing with one of our ferrets having lymphoma and were maintaining their comfort and quality of life with medication as best we could. Unfortunately, one night it finally reached the point the medication was no longer helping their comfort. Due to it being late night on a Sunday our typical vet was not open and finding an emergency vet for a ferret is not an easy task. I came across MVMC online and called them immediately and staff were calm and friendly and explained we would likely be good to come in just to fill out an online form and call back prior to coming in. Once the form was completed I called back and we got the okay to come in and a vet would be available for us. Due to the nature of our visit it was such an extremely difficult moment for my wife and I both. Every single member of staff we interacted with gave us their forgiveness as well as our time/space we needed. We had a private room right away and got to spend as much time as we needed with our special fur baby to say our goodbyes. As well as all the time we needed with him after and we got to be with him during the entire process. During this extremely difficult moment in our life the staff gave us the time and condolences we needed. We also appreciate everything we got including a letter from the staff in memory of our forever loved ferret!

We aren't eligible for spay clinics, but found a clinic in Topsom for $150. And word from friends is that's about the cost at their vets. I have been going to this vet clinic for months. I will never go back there again. If this was…read morethe only vet clinic in the state of Maine, I would drive to New Hamshire. I brought my dog in to have a vaccination shot. I asked if I could also speak to the vet for approximately 5 minutes because I had a question about my dogs' behavior. I was the only one in the place. I was told that no, I was just here for a vaccination and would have to make a separate appointment if I wanted to speak to the vet. When we were back in the room, I again asked if I could have 5 minutes of the vet's time for a basic question about my dog's behavior. Again, I was told that I was here for the vaccination and not an appointment with the vet. I thought that if I had an appointment at the vet clinic, I would not need a separate appointment to speak with the vet. Apparently so. Granted by this time I was pretty disgusted with the whole situation. Made a comment that "it's not rocket science" (which that comment was put in my dog's medical record). Finally, I just told them to give my dog the vaccine. Now, my dog has had multiple vaccines without even so much as a whimper or a flinch. Well today, my dog flinched. He even urinated on the table which he has never done previously when receiving a vaccine. I promptly requested that all my dog's medical records be emailed to me because I would not be returning to this clinic. The email prefaced that they had inactivated my account, and I should find a clinic that can better suit my needs. Hmmmm, my needs were to speak to a vet when I was present at the vet clinic. After relaying this experience to a coworker, she stated that she had gone there ONCE and it was a horrific experience. I was told that their business practice has drastically declined in the recent years. I am witness to that.

As a result, he is very nippy and expresses his frustration such that everyone is aware. Because of this I was very very apprehensive about going to the vet with him. The Dr. asked if they could put a muzzle on my guy and I said "hah if you can". I kid you not they had a muzzle on him in under 10 seconds. I was floored. After that they were able to do what they needed to do and I was in disbelief. We left with meds to relax the pup before his next appointment and I am thrilled his ear infection is under control and he's in such good hands. We received a welcome packet with an emergency phone number list as well as dog friendly local breweries and recommended walking trails in the area and a koozie!

Less than a month later, the day before surgery I get an email with a quote for $800 - $1,400, this does not include the bloodwork. When I called, the receptionist was rude and unprofessional. She said she couldn't find that quote and that dental work is expensive. I asked to speak to the practice manager or the individual in charge of the quotes and was told the manager was on vacation until Monday and the one in charge of quotes would just go over it with me. This is clearly how they operate - save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs!
