Sabor Brazil has to be the nicest restaurant I have eaten in in Dublin. The food is amazing but what really makes Sabor Brazil special is the level of service. I have been here twice now and both times the food was unbelievably nice and the staff made us feel like royalty. As they bring each dish to the table they tell you the story of what you are eating, where it is from and how it is made. If you are left alone at the table at any time, they promptly bring you a book or a magazine so you are not left bored. If there are any crumbs on the table, a waiter will appear from no where and sweep them away. They always go out of their way to look after you.
Last time we were here for my birthday and it was fantastic. On arrival we were greeted by our waiter Will, who introduced to us a seated us. He brought us the menus and the wine list for us to view. Instead of ordering from the menu like most other menus, in Sabor Brazil they do a tasting menu of seven courses (although it really is more like about 12 courses including all the other treats and drinks they bring you). We were brought some prosecco with pomegranate. As far as prosecco goes it was probably one of the nicest I've have had.
The first course they brought us out was some small Brazilian cheese bread rolls with a selection of pestos, hummus, tapenade and other pâtés
and spreads. I swear that this is the nicest bread that I have ever eaten. I would be happy to return just for the bread. I think I would be rating Sabor Brazil as 5 stars even if everything else was mediocre (which the food is far from). Next came the grilled prawn with vatapá (which is a Brazillian dish made of coconut, peppers, tomatoes and finely ground nuts mixed together into a delicious paste). After this came the duck confit which, just like everything else in Sabor Brazil, was the nicest I've had. Unlike most duck that you get in most restaurants this duck was soft but lean. I find that most duck you get in Ireland is only soft because the meat is so fatty. Here, they were perfect, barely any fat but the meat still managed to be soft and succulent. The cherry reduction with the duck was also absolutely amazing. If I could have gotten away with it, I would have licked the plate clean.
Next came the sushi of the day. Unfortunately this is only a single piece of norimaki. This norimaki was delicious hence why it was unfortunate there was only one piece. This course also comes with a small shot of sake which went down very nicely after the sushi.
Next came the steak. I know this is probably getting repetitive but this was also the nicest I've had. Cooked to medium rare perfection; my knife cut through it like butter. I devoured the fillet so fast and was left with loads more delicious confit. One of the waiters spotted me trying to scoop up the remaining sauce with my knife and fork. He brought me out some more of that lovely bread to mop it up.
After we were finished that course, we were brought a lovely Brazilian fruit sorbet to cleanse out palette. After came the cheese board. I love cheese. If I could come in here just for cheese and wine I would be happy. After we finished the cheese, our waiter Will came back around and asked us if we would like some more. He brought us out some more. It was amazing. After came dessert, which arrived to our table along with the full complement of waiting staff singing happy birthday. It was lovely albeit kind of embarrassing. We then had some coffee and a handmade truffle before leaving.
On our way out the door the head waiter, Tom, caught us by the door to ask us how everything was. We told him how everything was lovely. I made a remark about how the only thing was the Caipirinhas that were brought out to us the last time we were there. He promptly said he would sort that out immediately and took us down to the Camden Exchange next door and after few words with the bartender we were presented with 2 Caipirinhas on the house.
Eating at Sabor Brazil totally unique experience. The food is unprecedentedly good and the service is amazing. Coming here is not just for food but for pampering too. It is a place to go not just to treat your mouth but also to treat yourself entirely. read more
