On a warm Wednesday in May I was led like one of Ali Baba's forty thieves through the Westfield wightwarrens by a work colleague. An Aladdin's lair full of various delicacies and delights to astound one's senses solicited us from all sides, but we were ultimately seduced by Sabbaba. And what a treasure trove we found...
Open-says-a-me!
This place is crazy good. I'd have gone close to giving it 5-star even without the $6 pricetag, but that sort of deal for a chock-a-block pita lunch AND a bottle of water in Sydney is insane. How insane? Albino bat guano insane --- Shikaka!
How to Sabbaba (the pita pocket dealio):
- You rock up and order your Pita & filling (falafel, meat, fish or haloumi).
- Next you choose your style (south american, tunisian cancun, algerian, ayia napa, tel aviv, south african, larnaca, koh samui and of course sabbaba).
- You find somewhere to fit (and sit) in the lunchtime throng.
- You open the box, pulp fiction style, and stuff your face with that middle eastern street goodness!
