Hallo folks,…read more I will provide you a translation of SimpleMinder's comment, as it is well written: --- For 11 years now there is the experience area for your senses (=Erfahrungsfeld der Sinne) at Pit 3 of Mine Zollverein in Essen, Germany. It is based on the basic principles of Hugo Kükelhaus, who was born in Essen as well. He was working on the relation between environment and human senses and tried to develop a method of connecting sensory perception with physical and physiological rules. The best thing is, that you can try everything out here: Learning by doing! The exhibition is clearly structurized. One part is dealing with optical, the other with acustical senses. But not only your sight and hearing is put to the test, there are also phenomena refering to smell, feel and physics. There is, for example, a path you can walk barefooted, a floating stone making you feel weightless, clay jugs offering opportunity to palpate their contents, a gong, coloured lightbulbs proofing the shadows not to be dark and much more. Another sense, degustation, can be thrilled in the caféteria! In addition, there is an area on the outside that was enlarged last year. The most funny thing is a swing that can only be operted by two people! The museum is located in an old colliery building, what makes everything even more interesting, especially in regard to industrial culture. For some extra $ (adult 1EUR, children 50 EURCent) you can even climb up the old pit frame to enjoy a fantastic view upon the surrounding area. All in all a fantastic experience, I highly recommend a visit. Especially children will love this site!!! Pictures have been added to the German version.

Everyone of us of course had steaks, with some potatoes and a bit of vegetables. The red wine was flowing, some of the best Argentinian wine of course. The inside is reminiscent of an old-school steakhouse. It's dimly lit and lots of wood and dark furnishings. There's shelves and walls of bottles and more bottles. Besides a great company and the good food, there was also bands serenading us through our dinner. Can't beat the abundance of entertainment at every corner of this dining room. The place felt so alive and vibrant. This is touted as one of the best steak houses in Cologne. There's a lot more competition today, but this one is still running strong.

The menu has a number of starters, salads, steaks and desserts. You can order your different cuts of steak cooked in different ways and with pepper crust or a few other combinations. You can order sides and sauces as well. My steak was cooked ok and lacked flavour for what was supposed to be a piquante :-) Portion was fairly big and normally I would have no problem with it but, the lack of flavour put me off it. All in all an ok place for meal. I am sure there are better places in town for a good steak.

During the…read morelast 2+ years we fly only business class because of a medical service animal that is an Australian Shepard that has to be with my daughter. Since flying with her (the medical service animal) we have used British Airways, United, Air France (received a commendation certificate), KLM, Air Canada/West Jet, Porter and Ryanair. I always provide all the documents: medical service dog, Dr. requirement, Canadian Certification, Trainers letter, Export Document (CFIA certified), vaccine and blood work record (CFIA certified), health certificate and of course breed/weight and no incontinence for long periods of travel some up to 20 hours. I had not flown Lufthansa in roughly a decade and decided to give them a try since historically they had been great. What a shock! Their respond was very slow taking over a week and then denied her requesting documents that were already provided to medical service. I resent the documents only to be left at pending. I called the Vancouver International Airport the day before our April 13th flight and was told she was confirmed. We arrive at the airport only to find out her status had not changed and being a Sunday no one was available in medical service to assist. We waited nearly 2 hours while Lufthansa workers tried desperately to help us without luck. Finally, a manager came down and said Lufthansa listed no documents received. At this point we are in panic mode but through her review of the documents asked me to email them directly to her. Upon receipt she removed the pending and we were able to board our flight to Croatia. This could have been catastrophic for both service animal and my daughter. I want to thank all those in Vancouver to assisted us and all on board attendance for their kindness and professionalism. I no longer can recommend this airline not only for their disregard for passenger health but also the quality of the pods, I have always only experience great sleep in business class and these were obviously very dated and once reclined I need attendant manual assistance to resume to the up right position several times. The over 9 hour flight had below average quality of food but non of this is reflective of the staff we actually met and spoke with but are all airline issues.

Flight attendants are friendly and work constantly from take off to touch down. Our flights were only 80 minutes long, yet they served the entire plane snacks and drinks, coming around twice to offer refills. Planes were clean. One thing I found interesting, while walking back to my coach seat, I noticed their First Class cabin seating was three seats across on both sides of the aisle. There did seem to be more leg room, but that's about all. I wondered to myself why anyone would pay for First Class, particularly for a short intra Europe flight. Lufthansa offers a Flex Fare for just a little more than basic coach fares. We did take advantage of the Flex Fare which allows you one free checked bag per person plus the freedom to change flights on same day of travel for no extra charge. We took an earlier flight than we had bought from Paris to Munich, no extra charge! Try that on a U.S. airline. My one complaint, when we checked in at Charles De Gaulle airport for the Paris to Munich portion, Lufthansa had ONE person working the ticket counter. There were probably 20 to 30 people in line waiting. The whole ticketing/check in process was quite chaotic.

English speakers: The store's name means "THE BLADE."…read more I first did business with Markus Schwiedergoll at Die Klinge in 2010, when I was happy to find a place to buy some very high quality German cutlery. The German city of Solingen, and the state (or Bundesland) of North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein Westfalen) enjoys a well-deserved reputation throughout the world for the high quality of their steel, especially knives and medical equipment and manicuring implements. I bought a large chef's knife, and loved it so much I had to go back and also buy a paring knife from the same manufacturer: Wüsthof. I've been very happy with my knives, and how Markus took care and time to help me choose the right length for my hand. He also taught me about how to maintain a proper edge on the knives. On a subsequent trip, I bought another chef's knife for a good friend, with smaller hands, so his is several centimeters shorter than mine. Markus also aided me with an exemption from the sales tax on my purchases, since there were going back to the United States. He shipped them directly to my home for me. While I was a bit "on edge" about getting the knives in the mail with my first purchase, since then I've come to know and trust him, and am very happy to have found his busy little store in the Kreuzviertel of Dortmunder Stadtbezirk Innenstadt-West. More recently, I emailed Markus from the United States and inquired about a specialty item. He promptly wrote back, indicating that indeed, he remembered me, and recommending a specific Wüsthof item that would suit my needs. When I showed up unexpected in his shop, he remembered who I was, and started to look for the Wüsthof item, but quickly realized he didn't have one in stock, but could have it in only a few days. I wanted two other items, he presented a selection to choose from, and helped me quickly select the ones that best suited my needs and desire for lifelong quality. I am very pleased with my purchases from him, their quality, and my knowledge that someone could be using them for years after I'm gone, and still get fine service out of them! Ganz vielen Dank, Markus! His business card says, I hope I've translated it acceptably: Schneidwerkzeuge, Schärfarbeiten, MultiTools, Leuchten, Zubehör Cutting tools, sharpening, multi-tools, lighting, accessories Messerfachgeschäft seit 1991 Knife specialist shop since 1991
