As a Texan, I take my chili seriously. My…read morecredentials include judging an Official Texas Chili Cook-off, and competing in numerous others. Stopping into this little Tex-Mex Chili joint just blocks from the central train station made me feel at home. Their menu isn't extensive, but what chili shop's isn't? I went for the "Classic."
What I got wasn't quite what a Texan would call "Chili." It had beans in it, which is a Cardinal Sin in the Lone Star State. Big no-no. But I guess they are Finnish, so I can't fault them too much. The meat was the smallest bit I've ever gotten in a chili bowl- but it was layered thick and deep with fresh tomatoes, cheddar cheese, onions, lime, and tortilla chips. The presentation was wonderful- it was colorful and looked delicious!
The interior was small- they can only accommodate 5 diners, tops. But the cozy space inside is a great way to get out of the snow, and get some down-home Tex-Mex cooking!
They play Spanish music over the speakers, but the staff doesn't speak it. The place is attractive, with cute water bottles, and fun place settings. It's a really nice looking spot, and they do make a welcome bit of my state's cooking. Bless their hearts!
