I am glad that they are expanding and have many hotels now in various European cities. This chain will probably be my first choice when booking hotels in Europe. This location is very conveniently located next to the Berlin Zoo train station. It's about a 2 minute walk to the station, and there is an express bus that goes directly from the Berlin Zoo train station to Tegel Airport. It's right close to the Kufürstendamm, the major shopping street in the former West Berlin. The room was comfortable and extremely quiet. I got a nice room on the seventh floor. The decor is modern and the bathroom fixtures are very nice. The lobby has a bar that serves drinks and small snacks late at night. It was nice to come in about 11:00 pm and relax with a beer in the pleasant hotel lobby before retiring for the night. The breakfast buffet is very good with hot and fresh rolls, pastries, cheese, cold cuts, boiled eggs, and bread. I especially liked the loaves of bread that you could slice. Nothing beats German bread. This is a good choice if you're on a budget but want to go slightly upscale.

But nice interior, free wi-fi throughout the whole hotel and a decent breakfast buffet. This one in Charlottenburg has one advantage: location; as it's near the Bahnhof Zoo train station and the new "Kranzler-Centre" on Kurfuerstendamm. But be aware, as the aforementioned Bahnhof Zoo and the nearby erotic museum mark this area as one of the (also historical) more seedy areas of Berlin. So please be prepared to encounter some really special characters when returning from partying in Kreuzberg in the wee hours of Sunday.

All of my interactions with the staff were very pleasant, but the hotel itself is horrible. The pictures of the rooms are very misleading. Perhaps that's what the rooms looked like when the hotel opened, but now the rooms are worn, dated, and depressing. They are, however kept clean. The walls of the entrance halls need to be repaired and getting into the elevator in the "annex" reminded me of some really trashy places friends lived on the Lower East Side of NYC. Unfortunately, the design of the room is tragic. The bathroom isn't really separated from the sleeping/working area, so my shy friend and I had to take turns stepping outside into the rundown hall while the other made use of the facilities...The frosted glass shower door serves as a type of door for the bathroom, but nope... just a bad idea. The location is excellent for a more "German" experience in Berlin even thought it's right in the middle of the Vietnamese restaurant and Chinese massage (legit!!!!!) area. There are many lovely cafes and restaurants that aren't hipster magnets near the hotel. For the same price, I could have stayed in a "gemuetlich" (comfy) small pension that had some character. Instead I felt as though I trapped in some Ikea knock-off misadventure. But the staff was friendly ;-)

This was one of the more disappointing Marriott stays I've had in recent years…read more While there were a few bright spots--most notably Patrick from the concierge team, who was consistently helpful and professional--the overall experience was plagued by a series of avoidable service failures. During our stay, we encountered issues involving room maintenance, housekeeping, communication, and follow-through. None of the individual problems would have been catastrophic on their own, but the cumulative effect significantly impacted our family's experience. Traveling internationally with young children requires a hotel to be reliable, and unfortunately that consistency was lacking throughout our stay. One particularly frustrating issue involved a family bicycle tour arranged through the hotel. We were not informed until approximately 30 minutes before departure that the meeting location was off-site and required additional transportation. With two young children, that simply wasn't enough notice to reasonably participate. Despite the circumstances, we later found ourselves disputing charges related to the excursion. To the hotel's credit, management eventually acknowledged many of the service shortcomings and offered compensation. However, much of the response felt reactive rather than proactive, with issues often requiring multiple follow-ups before being addressed. The property itself is well located and has potential, but based on our experience, the execution fell far short of what I expect from a premium Marriott-branded hotel. I sincerely hope management focuses on improving communication and guest recovery processes, because the staff members who genuinely care are being let down by inconsistent operations.

Went to Berlin for my son to compete for America in the International Dragonboat Races, and the team booked us all here. First off, it's on the outskirts of town, so you need to quickly learn how to navigate the bus/train/tram situation to get around (it was daunting due to the long German street names even for me despite being a native New Yorker and learning some basic German for 6 weeks before going. That being said, you can do it if you use the train phone apps with maps and all day or all week or all month tickets) or use Uber or Bolts (the European Lyft) but any form of taxi is super expensive so be careful. Back to the hotel. We had numerous friends and family in multiple rooms. In a few the A/C was broken. In some the mini fridge was broken. And did anything get fixed? Nope. Even someone who needed a fridge for medications they had with them could not be accommodated. And when they asked their maintenance man to fix the problems, the answer was no, he can't fix it. Also, the phones were down for at least 3 full days. You couldn't call down to the front desk. Even if the phones were working, you'll be charged even for a local call. We left before the phones were fixed, so who knows how long they were down in the end. Do yourself a favor. Get something more central. And get something with proper maintenance. I didn't eat there, but drinks are well made but alcohol weak and expensive. The breakfast the team paid for was lame. Go somewhere else. Even my friend who has been living in Berlin for 12 years found the location of our hotel an odd choice since it was so far from everything you will want to do including food, bars, museums, sightseeing, and any type of market.
