Although I prefer the Konstmuseum ,the December Sunday that I spent at the Rohsska was still an enriching experience. It has a splendid collection of Chinese Art and artifacts from the Neolithic Period(Bashan Ware Ceramic Jar from 2500 BC Gansu Province)through the Qing Dynasty(Decorative Pumpkin Container).Chinese Dynasties well-represented at the Rohsska were West Zhou,Northern Wei,Song,Tang,Ming, and Qing. Its collection of Tang Art and artifacts is very impressive, especially tomb figures with glazed horses and camels. It also has fine representations of Buddha,Guan Yin(God of Mercy),and the Arhats.I also appreciated its fine collection of silver creations from the Renaissance Period to the 18th Century.I especially liked Jean Weimet's"ivory and silver drinking vessel',Esias Zur Linden's"Drinking Ship",and Jacob Miller the Elder's"Diana the Huntress".
I liked its selection of 20th Century Chairs, especially those created by Charles Rennie MacIntosh,Gerrit Rietveld,Gunnar Asplundh, and Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe of Bauhaus fame.So enjoy this museum with its fine eclectic collection of Decorative and Religious Art. read more
