We've been to Ryze a few times, for our 2 year old and we just turned up for the 10am-11am time slot for kids. (Within this time slot, kids can use the whole area, while after 11am there's only a small kids corner zone for the same price, £7).
If your visit is outside the school holidays, there is no need to book - we've been to a couple of mornings in November-December where there were only 3-4 kids besides us.
The trampoline area is huge, with lots of jumping areas, including an area with balls, an area with a net ball hoop, pits with soft shapes and a kids only corner/zone. In addition to the trampolines, they opened a new gym in mid December and are running jumping classes for adults. There is a cafe to the right behind the reception area.
However, they have a very inflexible pricing structure. You pay the same flat rate, £7 per hour for a kid aged 2-6, regardless of age and the number of siblings. As compared to a £7.50 flat rate for an adult after 11am. They seem to favour students most - as a student, you get 25% off the adult price, so £5.60, which is cheaper than for a 2 year old!!!
In addition, you may have to pay an extra £1 for a locker and they make you to buy special socks. We had our own grippy socks but Ryze staff insisted we bought the Ryze branded socks, so another £2.50.
The floor feels very cold in the morning, so socks are definately recommended.
We never got a full hour for your money, its more around 45mins every time we were there. First, there is a queue, and then, they dont let you in because they insist on telling you the safety instructions. Ironically, then they either dont tell them at all or they only tell that you that the adults must stay on the border areas while your kids jump.
The staff are not particularly smiley or friendly they mostly stay there and watch, ready to tell you what 'not to do' rather than 'what you can do'. On our first visit, one female staff was repeatedly trying to take away the ball from my 2 year old (as she wanted to take them out of the balls area ) so the staff do not really understand the younger kids. I was a bit miffed by this because there were only 3 other kids at the time so they could have been more understanding - after all, she'd only play with it for a couple of minutes and put it back...
What I wish they had improved:
Please tell your safety instructions while we buy the tickets or to everybody at once as a group before letting us in.
Improve your pricing structure. If you're nearly empty outside the school holidays, you want more kids in. It should be cheaper for kids than for students.
Reduce the price for the kids only zone after 11am. Its only a small corner which is not worth the full price.
Overall, the place was modern, new and fun enough for kids to jump. So ok to visit occasionally. I would come more often if it was a better value for money - they're next to the Saltyre soft play which is more reasonably priced for small kids with a good cafe. read more
