After spending some time at Lidl, I came back and decided to have dinner here. There was a bell that you needed to ring if no one was there. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to order. The menu is completely in Swedish. However, the pictures helped me a ton. Luckily, the woman who helped me spoke perfect English. I was so relieved! I ordered the Swedish meatballs. It came with mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce, and salad. My food with my can of Coke Lite cost me 69 SEK. I paid with my credit card. You need to enter your PIN if you can't read Swedish like me. The downside was that my phone shut itself down and I lost the photo that I had taken of my food along with a Coke Lite. Ugh! I do remember a plastic beige fork and a knife jabbed in my mashed potatoes. It was delicious! The meatballs were a bit crispy on the outside and juicy inside. You needed a knife to cut them in half. Dip them in the lingonberry sauce (heck, everything tasted good with this sauce) and you are in heaven. The salad made me feel better that I was eating a bit healthier. I sat at one of the tables outside. The woman was friendly and called me when my food was ready. Soon afterwards, four folks came up to order food. See, I am a food magnet... haha! I love this place. It's by the train station and the park. It's the perfect place to grab a delicious bite to eat for cheap. (302)

Wooden walls and quite dark (that unfortunately due to the lack of cloth makes the dining area a bit loud/echoing), the interior rather breathes of history and genuineness than the modern approach, a little bit like stepping back in time restaurant-wise, and that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. On the contrary, Michelangelos primary focus is genuine cooking with big and bold flavors without the fancy shenanigans. This latest outing was with my father, his partner Maggan, myself and our youngest son Isak. We were quickly seated and attended to and started going over the menus. All of decided on Gamberoni al piccanti for starter - fried scampi in garlic, chili and parsley with salad. The scampi was perfectly cooked, translucent in the middle and still moist with nice hint of chili and garlic. The salad though was sorely lacking any kind of finesse or skill. I know Italian salads and I love them both for their simplicity and amazing flavors. But a few green leaves with sloppy chopped tomatoes and large bits of raw red onion doesn't fool anyone, in particular not me. I had the house white wine on the glass for the starter it was very bland without any structure or complexity. I really prefer a more sweet wine, perhaps a Riesling, that is a perfect match to delicate seafood. But no, this didn't work. For main course all of us once again decided on the same dish, their honey glazed lamb roast beef with roasted potatoes, red wine jus, and sautéed vegetables. We also ordered an Italian bottle of red wine (can't remember what it was) but the wine was good. Though the food was the highlight! Succulent and tender roast beef, beautiful vegetables, crispy potatoes. The only minor flaw was that the red wine jus was too sweet, I like the sauce to have more bite and thus complement both the vegetables and the meat better. But I'm getting nitpicky here, the food is good and I'll be more than happy to come back and taste another little piece of Italy.

The menu is quite large for a café (pastas, crepes, casalinga, salad, foccaccia)- bit too large for me to get suspicious..I believe in less is more and stick what you're good at... I decided to go for a turkey focaccia with feta cheese. The bread was really good, proper italian bread-thumbs up...the salad on the side was ok but they hadn't put any oil or vinegar on it (and didn't have any to put there either for that matter). However, with the sun shining we ordered our food and sat down at their serving tables outside. The menu was surprisingly large serving everything from a variety of pasta dishes such as bolognese and lasagna, different focaccias, salads, crepes etc. I'm a firm believer that less is always more with quality over quantity. Though two people in our company (my father and his partner Margareta) who live here in Karlskrona said it's a really good place. I ordered the pasta of the day, linguini in cream sauce with prawns and gremolata. My daughter had the pasta bolognese and my son the lasagna. Maggan had the lasagna as well while my dad had a focaccia. To say that we were all happy with our food is no understatement whatsoever. The focaccia is both moist, well-seasoned and crispy. My daughter's bolognese was rich with flavor, she wouldn't stop eating until the plate was clean. My son loves lasagna, and he even proclaimed "this was almost better than the lasagna in Mallorca last summer!", and coming from him - that's high praise indeed. Had a taste of it and it really was good. Packed with flavor, crunchy corners, moist and right amount of resistance in the pasta. My own dish of prawns, cream, linguini, baby spinach and arugula also came with a crispy puff pastry. All in all it was truly tasty. I left happy and satisfied. Also the service was friendly, efficient and attentive. A really good spot for lunch in my yelp-book!

Their own statement is that the place is supposed to be reminiscent of the Montmartre neighborhood in north Paris with its variety of peacefulness, loudness, charm and beauty - a place that is the soul of the city (Paris). While I appreciate metaphors, they do incite a certain "danger" if the restaurant isn't up to par with their statement. We went here, three adults and three kids (age 7, 10, 13), and we were immediately greeted by the owner and seated at our reserved table. We were quite quickly given menus. All of the adults ordered pesto gratin clams with butter, lemon, herb salad. Perfectly cooked! Rich in flavor, buttery, slightly acidic from the lemon that just cut through the butter without over-powering the delicate clams. I had a glass of white wine, Hidden Rock, a chardonnay from Australia. Despite the severe complexity of pairing wine with acid/lemon, this really did the trick. For main my son had the beef tenderloin Black Angus, Bearnaise sauce, onion rings, and tomato. He cleaned the plate. So happy with his dish. My daughter and youngest son split a Vesuvio pizza. It had thin and crispy crust, tangy cheese, and a tomato sauce both rich and deep in flavor without being sweet. They were happy! For main two of us had the lightly salt cured cod with prawns, broccoli and horse radish butter. It was soft, moist, and flaky. Just delicious. I had the pepper beef tenderloin, brandy-flambé cream sauce, baby vegetables, herb oil and roasted potatoes. Ordered my meat rare and it came perfectly rare. Good and crispy char with the ruby red center. It just melted on my palate. I had a glass of wine, a red Sangiovese. It was good, big lingonberry flavour, but unfortunately too light to handle the pepper in my dish. For dessert my kids had the sticky chocolate cake with miniature merengue, raspberry coulis and whipped cream. I myself had a Toblerone parfait, chocolate- and nougat sauce, mango sorbet, and whipped cream. To this a nice cup of coffee. Tasty and rich but too big in size. Half would have been more than enough. In all, this place is a friendly neighborhood gem. Forget fine-style dining, this is straight forward well-cooked food with a heartwarming touch of home. Friendly, attentive and accommodating serving-staff. It's not without flaws of course. Menus in plastic covered pages I could do without, genuine paper oozes a bit more quality. Sorely lacking cloth napkins, the only thing available were thin paper napkins. Also, a meager choice of one white and red wine on the glass is nowhere near acceptable. At least 3 of each are needed to accommodate the variety of dishes (as I personally experienced with my main). Lastly two things; portion control on the dessert. That amount of sweet isn't necessary. Scale back a bit, making it a bit more refined. And don't use "whipped" cream from a spray can, whip real cream! But really, I'm nitpicking here. This is a great place, friendly smiles, and above all tremendously well-cooked food that leaves you satisfied, happy and definitely with a desire to try more of their dishes at another time. Don't miss it!
