Choose the Hawkins team!! This past October, my husband and I were settling in at my parents' house bracing ourselves for fierce winds Hurricane Delta. We had just put in an offer on a house. It was nice enough, but it needed a ton of work, but the sellers weren't coming down on the price. My father, feeling that they were asking more than it was worth, suggested we continue to look at other houses while the hurricane started brewing. A little house on zillow caught our eye. The interior had been freshly remodeled, and it was in tucked away in a small subdivision in Lafayette. Dad, crazy as usual, suggested that we contact the realtor and see if he'll show us the house today. IN A HURRICANE. Enter Ryan, the listing agent. So I call him up. "Of course," Ryan said. "We can show you the house at 1:30!" Out we drove (my parents, my husband and I) in the pouring rain, met with Ryan and Suzette's smiling faces opening the front door to us. They were so personable and so down to earth. We must've talked and laughed with them for two hours straight. IN A HURRICANE. And while this ended up not quite being the house for us, we felt so heard and at home with Ryan and Suzette that we asked them to help us find OUR house. That night, Suzette promptly emailed us a list of houses to start looking at. The first house on the list was the one. Absolutely perfect. A beautiful four bedroom on the edge of Lafayette, in a quiet neighborhood, with the right pricetag. They had hit the nail on the head. We hadn't even seen this house listed before, and we had been looking for months. They quickly helped us put an offer in, and we were off to the races. In the wake of COVID 19, there were many difficulties and setbacks in terms of loans and paperwork, but Ryan met every challenge head on, personally pushing to get our closing out of the chaos. Ryan went to the house numerous times to check on things that needed tending, he constantly facilitated communication between us and the seller to get the price and the terms of sale that were best for our needs. He was always available for questions and options on how to proceed, and how to navigate any issues that arose. He held our hand throughout the process of buying, as this was our first house. When all was said and done, Ryan arrived early (earlier than we did) to our closing appointment, in order to give my husband and I a goody basket from he and Suzette as a congratulations on buying our first home.
