You would think a business who caters to women going through breast cancer would have more patience and compassion. I made an appointment for a Saturday, arrived on time but was made to wait becasue of all the walk-ins they had. Then why make an appointment? I was there for a compression sleeve and wanted a printed one. The woman threw a brochre at me and said this is an old one so they maynot be making that print anymore. Great customer service right? The woman who was helping me was supposed to "teach" me onhow to put the sleeve on. She walks away and helps another customer. PIck up 2 weeks later I was told they would help me put it on the check the fit. It was the same woman who helped me inatially she did not offer nor did I ask to put it on to check the fit. I figured why bother. I'll order online from now on. This place is resting on its laurels. read more

It's a lovely small business run by some lovely older women who know EXACTLY what they're doing. I went for a bra fitting and the woman who helped me eyeballed the size and got it right FIRST TRY. Now I have a bra that fits, which is not something I've ever really had, save the sports bras. I actually have a real, regular bra now, and it FITS!!! This was my first time ever being fitted for a bra, but my mom who has been fitted at many places over the years says that places like Victoria's Secret don't have people who really know what they're doing, ESPECIALLY compared to Ruth's Lingerie. 5/5 stars, highly recommend to anyone who wears bras and needs a new one. Additionally, I do have level 1 autism, and the place was sensory-friendly to me at least. The lights were not too bright and the environment was not too loud, and the bra I got is very comfortable (except for the tag but I'll just cut that off lol). read more

Then they REFUSED to exchange it for me because i tried it on! but yet told me to come on in no worries over the phone.. we will help you when u get here. SURGERY HAS NOW BEEN CANCELED SINCE I DONT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE POST SURGERY PRODUCT NEEDED! Once you get there for an appointment you wait 25 minutes to 40 minutes (me with a crying baby) before being helped... well 40 my first time going to resolve this issue. Then 25 minutes for my 2nd attempt told be then told they won't help me. So.. 3 attempts to get the correct product for my surgery and still do not have the correct item.. BUT YET THIS FACILITY WILL BILL YOU AND YOUR INSURANCE FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED STAY CLEAR. Side note.. had 2 scripts both filled wrong.. one for surgery didn't fit at all! More than half my thigh couldn't fit! The other 1 I requested open toe and they were closed toe when I got home. Went here to get a special sized bra without underwire but needed the same support. I was warmly great when I entered the store. They took me to dressing room where they measured me. They were very patient, kind and professional. They brought several different bras into the dressing room for me to try on. I found the perfect bra without underwire the 3rd one I tried on. The bra was fairly price compared to what I am use to paying for a quality supportive bra. They listened to what I wanted/needed and were able to provide me with good options. Thank you to everyone reviewing this place on Yelp. I left this shop feeling incredibly insecure and unattractive, and after reading these reviews I realize it's not me, it's the people there (or at least the sales attendant I had.). I felt very pushed into buying something so I found a bra, and then was directed to a panty that matched. When I asked if they had my size, the attendant looked me up and down, and told me I was a size larger. I told her, no, I have been buying the size I am for quite sometime and they fit perfect. I decided to select a bra without a matching panty and just get out of there as soon as I could. But, she then told me that bra had a matching panty and handed it to me in the size she had told me I was. I asked if she had it in my actual size, and she rolled her eyes, looked me up and down, and told me I'm definitely the size she selected (in front of my husband mind you - who she was also rude to). I was in tears after I left the store. In short, a lingerie store should make women feel sexy, confident, and empowered - not belittled and insecure. I had a bra fitting with Karen in early April. She was very knowledgeable, fun and the time spent was not awkward at all as some bra fittings can be. I bought the only bra I selected they had in my size and ordered three more. When I checked out I asked how long it would take to get them and I was told 7-10 days and would be called if it would be longer. Great! Well, no call after 2 weeks and I'm not chasing after the bras. I feel I'm now free to get them elsewhere now. A month later I got a call from Katherine or Katheen saying my two (not three?) bras are in. I explained what I was told and I had bought bras directly from the company and had them in 5 days. She basically shamed me for not waiting saying if customers did this they couldn't stay in business. As a customer, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This employee has no clue as to the impact basic customer service has. What I didn't tell her is I also bought several from another company at a much lower price even with the shipping because I didn't want a longer lecture from her. I would consider returning for a fitting if there is a need and buy one bra, not place an order....and work with Karen. My daughter wanted to be formally fitted for a bra, as she's never had the opportunity to do so. The store also services clients who have medical conditions so an appointment is necessary. Having a designated time slot allows enough time to try on many options, and staff is very committed to finding the best fit for you. They will order the size you need if it is not in stock. I must remember to read the negative Yelp reviews before the positives. This was a thoroughly unpleasant and upsetting experience. I felt like I was waiting to get into a exclusive venue, not an intimate apparel shop. Before I was allowed in, Kathleen, one of the employees, harshly told all three people waiting, to back up and wait to be called. We were backed up, wearing masks, doing exactly what we should have done. When we were finally went in, there was more chaos. Another woman and I had appointments but Kathleen could not decide which employee would work with which customer. There were only two of us but I decided this must be what it feels like to be the last kid chosen for team. It was not a good beginning. When I was finally shown to the dressing room, Kathleen asked nothing about me or what type of bra I was looking for. It was exasperating and I felt rushed and humiliated by her insensitivity and lack of concern for my modesty. Anyone working in a lingerie shop must be sensitive to her customer's needs, pay attention, listen, and make the customer feel she matters. Kathleen failed on every level. I cut short the appointment because I was done with this unpleasant experience. As I was paying, Kathleen kept asking questions I was not willing to answer; such as giving my phone number for their database, etc. I told her this was a one-off trip to this particular store. While she did not ask me for my phone number again, she kept telling me things to keep in mind for my next visit. Kathleen told me everything except the secret handshake. Several times, I politely told her this was a single shopping trip and there would not be further visits. Again, not listening. I could not leave until I told Kathleen how she made me feel and how thoroughly horrid this experience was. Kathleen started defending herself saying SHE did not make me feel bad, etc. When she finally took a breath, I replied no one can tell another person how they feel. Further, how she made me feel terrible and insignificant; how I could not feel much worse. Shopping, especially coming out of COVID, has been delightful and positive...until I came here today. Never in my whole life have I felt so belittled by a place of business more so then I did today . Went into Ruth's lingerie in Cranston for a bra fitting for my wedding dress. I was greeted at the door like I was a criminal and talked down to like a child. Then Kathleen asked me to undress from the top up with the curtain open to anyone who would walk by. She then pointed out that I had fat ( which she was trying to give medical advice saying it's a tumor or hernia .. it's just a bad tan line on fat !!)and was trying to give me medical advice. Now anyone that knows me knows I have worked in the medical field forever. My medical history was none of this woman's business I was there for a bra and that was it. Before my visit at Ruth's, I re-read reviews and almost cancelled my appointment. We arrived there exactly on time, the door was locked, and it took a few minutes to be acknowledged. A woman came to the door and announced that visits were by appointment only. As she was closing the door, I was able to tell her I had one. Door closed again so she could check her schedule. She then came out and invited us in to sit and wait. I was about to leave when Jean came by. Jean fitted me with a perfect bra with a prosthesis. Jean was great and I took back all of the thoughts I had when we first arrived there. I plan to visit there on a regular basis for new bras. Today my soon to be daughter in law went to Ruth's for a bra fitting for her wedding dress. She should be having the time of her life right now. She is a hard worker, has been working throughout the pandemic at the hospital and now is planning her wedding which is in a few weeks. I'm in my 30's and only now have found the best bras for my body thanks to Ruth's! Last weekend my daughter and I were in the area from Houston Texas . We had planned on dropping some items off at the Mesa Grill , which is next door , for a baby shower . We were early so we decided to go take a look at Ruth's lingerie selection. The store was much bigger than it looked and did have a nice selection of bras and panties , but nothing I haven't already seen at Macy's or Dillard's . While we were looking we had 3 women approach us and ask if we needed help . I told each one that we were just looking around . I figured if I saw something interesting enough to try on I would ask for help . We were in the store maybe 10 minutes max . There was a smaller area that had specialty items , nursing Bras , Spanx for pregnant women and some surgical specialties as well . Another woman approached me and asked me if I needed help. I told her no thank you we were just looking around . She then told me in the snootiest possible way that "we are not a self serve store". Not really sure what she meant by that but it was enough to leave . Apparently they didn't want my business or my money . I may have been inclined to purchase something "sexy" had I seen it ., but not after that . We left the store . Half way across the parking lot a woman chased me from the store to make sure that I was going to move my car . I told her that I planned to as soon as I emptied some heavy items out of my car to bring to The Mesa. Which we did . I have never been so humiliated and disrespected in my life . We were treated like street thugs by Ruth and her posse . My sister who lives close by has shopped there in the past and when I told her what happened she was just beside herself . Staffers at the Kent Hospital Breast Center recommend Ruth's as the go-to place for garments after a mastectomy. The two times I've visited were awful. The younger clerks are friendly enough, but there's an old biddy that should have retired 40 years ago. She's condescending, rude, and abrupt, not what's needed after life-changing surgery. Although the clothing racks seem full and abundant, there are gaps in sizes. Maybe swimwear's not their thing, but I don't think they should be out of sizes in early July. read more

When customer service nearly died in the '80s, one of the saddest by-products of its untimely demise was that people had to start doing for themselves what had previously been done by knowledgeable and skilled salespeople. Consequently, a generation later, we have a populace that regularly walks around in clothing, shoes, and undergarments that don't fit properly. Ill-fitting clothing can make you look like a dork, but ill-fitting shoes and bras will actually affect your posture and throw your whole back out of whack if you're not careful. It certainly doesn't help matters that the evil empire of Victoria's Secret is actively trying to convince women that everyone should fit into sizes ranging from a 34B to a 36D. Everyone else is just an aberration and should apparently force their body to conform to the clothing, instead of hoping to find clothes that actually fit their bodies. Happily, the proprietors at Ruth's don't think this way. They have sizes that run the gamut from fourth-grader's training bra, to barely-there ballerina bod, to amply-endowed, plus-size, nursing, etc. They also fit for mastectomy prosthetics. Quality is first-rate, and they don't gouge you on prices. They tend to have a range of products at various prices for each size, and their prices on particular products are similar or favorable compared to other locations. Customer service is old school, meaning they do anything they can to help you, and they realize that making you feel welcome is the best way to keep you coming back. I have never had anything but the best of experiences and bought the best quality of merchandise from this store. read more

My sister got a gift certificate for a fitting and bras from Ruth's. We were excited about the fabled fit and incredible bras that everyone talks about. It short -- what a let down. The woman who waited on us did a perfunctory measure and presented bra after bra with features that were not what Sis asked for. She provided no information on how to tell if the bra fit well. Honestly, some of the lines they carry are average quality; others can be had at Macy's for the same or less money. Very few could be described as beautiful. The shop is arranged sensitively, in that bras for women with mastectomies and their dressing rooms are in a private section of the shop. We were aghast at the prices, and if there were not a gift certificate to be spent she would never have purchased the two bras she got. If I could leave zero stars I would. I have never had such an awful shopping experience in all of my life. There were so many things that went wrong. When I first went in the woman behind the register was helping another woman so I quietly stood in line. They chit-chatted for a while and it was clear the cashier was taking her time. When she finished instead of helping me she asked a woman shopping across the store if she came in before me and needed help. I assumed that those in line would be next but I patiently waited. Next, I asked a question about insurance since I had purchased mastectomy bras and received a bill. The older woman was rude and defensive clearly not understanding my question. Finally, I simply paid the bill and decided to call the insurance company on my own since they could not answer my question. Then, I provided a prescription for an overnight compression garment and right in front of me an employee said "Jane" does that but she's eating. She'll have to sit and wait (about me). Completely unprofessional and such poor customer service. After being in the store for over 45 min while the one person that could help me watched a movie on her computer and ate, I took my prescriptions and left. The store itself is completely outdated. After years of working from home, I needed to upgrade my bras which were old cotton sports bras from Target that look like slingshots. A friend recommended Ruth's for the customer service and "handsy Rhode Island salesladies" knowing I like bossy women who tell me what to do. I had no idea what my size was but I know what I do NOT like in bras (no underwire, no decorative shiny parts, no padding, no see through parts). Two ladies took to measuring me and began bringing me bras by the handful. It was kind of like a makeover show - I never even looked at the inventory. They brought me bras in different sizes and figured out my taste right away. It was exactly the full service I was promised. However when it was my turn I did enjoy the undivided attention. The employee measured me and based on my nursing needs knew exactly the best bra. Just drove for an hour to get there and arrived 5 minutes before the store closed. My mother and I didn't realize that the store closed that early but were approached by an employee asking if we were being helped yet. We said no and assumed that this woman would offer to help us. Instead, she told us that since they would be closing soon, nobody would be able to help us. I honestly hate being that customer, but I mentioned how far I had driven and that I knew my size and just wanted to grab a bra, not be sized. The woman again stated in no uncertain terms that my mother and I would not be helped because "we like to be out the doors right at 5. We work hard." When my mother again pointed out that I knew my size and maybe we could just buy something, the employee repeatedly stated that they don't want me buying anything without properly sizing me. She offered that I could return the following day and that they are open late on Thursdays. I understand that it's considered rude to enter a store 5 minutes before close, I've worked retail and understand the frustration. But i also know that it's terrible customer service to straight refuse to let somebody buy something simply because you're closing SOON. This is not the first time I've had a bad experience at Ruth's but it's certainly going to be my last. I will not be going back, even if it means driving even further than an hour. read more

I'm going to be the strange one here and give this place a bad review. I've been sized at a lot of professional, independent places. I was a professional fashion designer and costume designer when I lived in Los Angeles. I know my way around sizing. Their technique of fitting is dated and only results in a poorly fitting bra. A properly fitted bra should make you look about 10 pounds lighter and the support should come from the band. The whole technique of adding an extra 4" to your rib cage measurement is no longer needed due to advances in fit and fabrication. Plus, the 1" = 1 cup up isn't correct either. According to this place, you shouldn't wear your bra very tight, resulting in a bra that doesn't give a shred of support. Their reasoning is that the band will tear and the hooks will warp. This isn't the case, as a rule, the band should be as tight as possible without causing you pain. She also told me that you should never wear the bras on the loosest hook, but the middle to prevent the hooks from warping. You begin on the loosest hook so that, as weight fluctuates and the bra ages, you can tighten as need be. The bras are pretty expensive and the quality (having worn a few of the brands years ago) is lacking. The bands stretch out fairly quickly and under wires are prone to working their way out of the casing. When I mentioned this to the woman helping me after she handed me a few of the brands I've learned aren't worth a single cent, I was informed it's because I'm wearing my bands too tight. I'm not. I have several higher quality bras (that I bought at the same price they're offering their lower quality bras at, I might add), that I would still be wearing if it weren't for weight loss. I was wearing a 32F, the band so loose I can easily place my entire fist under it with cups about 2 sizes too small. Their technique of sizing placed me in a 36DD. I haven't been a 36 since I was a size 14 (I'm an 8 now). I politely informed the lady that there's no chance I'm a 36 as my current bra is a 32 that currently shifts around on as the day goes on. I either need a new 32, a size 30 or a smaller 34. Her compromise was handing me a few 34DDD's but she refused to consider handing me the sizing I requested. I tried helping her by informing her I have wider set breasts meaning I need wider under wires. Again, I was informed I'm mistaken, the under wires poke me in my breasts because the sizing is too small, not because women's breasts vary by width. The bras themselves, as I said earlier, are not the best quality and are far from cute. They follow the tired, old, frustrating idea that larger cup sizes mean you'll only be wearing unattractive, full coverage granny bras. Please, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Boston and make an appointment with Intimacy. Their sizing is spot on, their bras are beautiful and you get what you pay for. With proper care, you'll have bras that fit beautifully, make you feel damn sexy, that will last you years. read more

I was a little hesitant to go to Ruth's based on some of these reviews, but man am I glad we went. I was buying my wedding undergarments, so getting a perfect fit was vital. We were immediately greeted and taken to the back where my sales woman looked at photos of my wedding dress, listened to what we were looking for and took my measurements. Although the location is convenient, I have stopped shopping here because of the blatant disregard for customer service. There have been many times when I went to shop there and I experienced a chaotic system. At my very last visit, I arrived when there was no other customer in the shop. Off to the side of the store, six clerks including the owner chatted for at least twenty minutes even though at least two of them were aware of my presence. No moved. I finally left and then called the owner to express the lack of service. She was not apologetic and came across as not caring about my opinion. She seems to think that she doesn't have to improve anything since she has a "captured audience".
