I used a rain check to race at Toledo Speedway after my event at Flat Rock Speedway got rained out. The rescheduling process was super easy over the phone. As this was my first experience I purchased the photo, video, ride along, insurance, and of course the driving experience. The faux carbon fiber photo plaque is a nice presentation and contains a picture of you with the car and a picture of the car on the track. The video is a nice addition as well. The only thing that could improve the video was if they could overlay the in-car audio over the video so someone watching the video understands what's going on on the track. I'll purchase the $60 insurance again because for 60 bucks why not. I never at any point felt close to being on the edge of wrecking but it seems like a fair price to limit potential costs of repairs. The only note I'll add about purchasing the racing experience is do not purchase through Groupon, it is cheaper to go through their website. Also, sign up for their email as they are always sending out deals way better than you'll find on Groupon. I strongly recommend the ride along if you want to see what these cars are really capable of! Both me and my buddy that did this experience were blown away by the ride-along, you will in no way be disappointed! The speed they carry through the turns was far more than I realized. The staff was super friendly and helpful, from the people that signed you in to the instructor to the professional drivers everyone seemed happy to answer any questions and they all seemed happy to be there. The driving experience itself was well worth the price of admission. I thought there was a warm-up lap once you got on the track so I holding back until I was told to left and lift over the radio to let a car by then I realized it was go time and caught the car and was told to pass over the radio. I had some issues with my car sputtering from the start and after being stuck on the front stretch I was able to get the car going. The spotter kept telling me to put in in gear and go but with the one-way radios you can only hear so you can't tell them you're having problems with the car. I could only imagine how annoying it'd be for the spotter if they had two-way radios so no complaints there. After a few laps, the sputtering was back so I pulled in the pits and they put gas in the car and let me go back out and finish my racing experience. I feel I got an extra experience getting a pit stop half way through. I haven't counted the laps on the video but I'm pretty sure I got a couple extra laps when I went back out for having to pull in to the pits early. The really do want to make sure you have as good of an experience as possible. The racing lines are clearly marked out on the track with an orange block indicating let off the throttle and a green box indicating when you can get on the throttle. Holding the throttle wide open until the orange box and letting off the car seems to be out of momentum by the time you're halfway through the turn and if you touch the throttle before the green box they'll tell you over the radio that you're getting on the throttle too early. Understanding that they have people showing up with a ride range of driving abilities and they want to keep everyone safe and prevent people from wrecking the cars, I still feel I had a great experience! These are real race cars on a real track and far exceed the driving experience I had with a different company where I got to drive a Ferrari that was so de-tuned my f150 is faster out of a corner and had to drive with one of the employees in the passenger seat limiting the experience further. Plan on being at the track longer than expected. I didn't get in the car til more than an hour after my scheduled time but it is well worth the wait. You're at a race track, enjoy the sights and sounds and the whole experience! Overall this was a great experience and I look forward to purchasing many more experiences through the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience along with their other company Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience.
