I am new to Idaho. I haven't been here a month yet. I came here from the Los Angeles/OC border area of CA. My family has been collecting Antiques since my grandparents. My mom decorated our home in the 1970's with Antiques & we've done everything from Auctions to shops & when I was small we use to travel in our camper across the country to seek out antiques. I'm not a huge buyer of Antiques but I have been selling some of my moms excess that she never used over the years so I've learned a lot about them. I even looked into buying spaces for her in antique malls similar to Paris Antiques. Living in CA you would think we have a great selection but after visiting Paris Antiques here - I realized they have many many unique items u will NEVER find in CA antique stores. If u do the prices would be so ridiculous that they probably wouldn't sell to be used & that a little sad. The 1st thing I noticed were they had REAL vintage Beach Cruisers. I think they were from 1950's-1960's & several were Schwinn. In the town I grew up in we had one of the old Schwinn stores so I've always loved them but I haven't seen a true Vintage Schwinn since the 1970's & they even had a bright blue Corvette model. If I had the $ I would have bought 2 for my new place. The price was a very fair price - it's just with the move I'm gonna be on a budget for awhile. The prices were more than fair so It didn't feel right to ask if the price was negotiable but trust me I wanted to! A lot of antique stores from the LA/OC area are filled with faux antiques. You won't find that with this store. I didn't find 1 item that wasn't properly marked. They had a great supply of everything from name brand purses, true vintage unique clothing, shabby chic furniture in great condition, every type of collectible anything... you could almost set up a whole complete house buying from this place! My mom decided to use my Red colored kitchen for our new kitchen here. When I bought the stuff in the 1990's in Utah it was easy to find red items - apples, tomatoes, etc... but today it's not so easy to find unless u buy cheap kitchenware. I wasn't too sure how the red plan was going to work but after visiting Paris Antiques - I realized I actually can set us up now with a Red kitchen & they had a lot to choose from. In fact u could set up a kitchen in just about ANY color u want! They have anything from tools to collectible vintage anything. I'm quite sure I even saw true antique Americana African American collectible items that are impossible to even find online! There's even baby items! Then your everyday collectibles like John Deere even antler sheds, old knives, vintage cars & toys etc... - this is a place you can take your man & he won't want to leave after he finds the section that speaks to him! The prices are fair. Items are priced to sell. I saw several sections had 50% off or other sales also so when your shopping look for those. The down sides are - it is hot & I couldn't find anyone to help me. There were a few things I wanted to purchase but since I know I'll most likely be back I decided to wait. I walked past the front desk a few times - I went through the store at least twice but the 2 women were busy talking to each other & the next few times I went by & waited a bit longer the 1 left at the front was busy on her cell phone so I ended up leaving. I'm sure it gets slow there but this store would do very well if it had some good customer service. If I would have been able to get a price in a few things right away I most likely would have bought them but after u walk around a few times u find other items & tend to change your mind & then if it's hot like it got yesterday after doing 2 Laps in the store I got too tired to wait & left without buying... I'm still giving them 5 stars because it was too my benefit that I didn't buy all those things I wanted because I learned as I left they have Another Store down the street so I'm going to go there next & check it out before I buy anything... She said that she knew she had one and would get back with me. I left her my name and contact number. After I didn't hear back from her I called the store and she was rude to me. She said she had a personal problem and didn't have a chance to look. So, I waited to hear back from her again...we'll it's been a couple of months now. I called today and explained the situation to a colleague of hers, she put me on hold and Tracy came to the phone, I reminded her who I was and she obviously didn't have time for me. She said she couldn't find it, in her usual rude tone. I thought about calling her this second time, thinking that she might have lost my contact number. That was clearly not the case. Flexsteel furniture has been around for many years. It's exceptionally well made (frame, padding, cushions, stitching, etc.) and generously offer so many fabric/leather choices for sofas and chairs you won't believe it. Our daughter and son in law bought a new home in Rathdrum. We live in Montana. Our daughter grew up with Flexsteel sofas and chairs purchased in 1998 (sofas in top grain leather with coordinating chairs and ottomans in fabric). I am telling you, none of this stuff is even close to worn out. We generously slather on leather cream every 6 months to the sofas, don't sit on for a day or so and the (Bexley) sofas look crazy amazing, new! The truth is, I'm sick of the style as I didn't expect any of the pieces to hold up for 30 years. Seriously, I am not making this up. Flexsteel is the kind of furniture you don't have to worry about when raising kids, having parties, etc. It doesn't matter if someone spills or a kid jumps on the sofa. Cushions and padding just don't break down. Additionally (we know because our Flexsteel is now old but looks new), the cushions have zippers and every couple years, we unzip the upper cushions attached to the sofa and re-adjust IF needed. We checked prices of Flexsteel (yes, it can vary greatly for the same piece) with Runge Furniture and several other furniture stores including a large chain in Montana that offer Flexsteel. RUNGE FURNITURE had the best price, which was hard to believe. Our daughter and son in law chose a Flexsteel sofa with top grain leather and a coordinating (fabric) recliner. They were treated so well. We were given an estimated delivery date and I believe the sofa was delivered a day before or after that date. Right on time! I purchased two chairs there and they were delivered in a little over an hour locally to my Coeur D'Alene home. The movers moved the big old chairs out of the way into a new location which was helpful. Customer service was prompt, helpful and responsive. We purchased a swivel for one of the chairs which was delivered and installed a week later. If you know what you want and you must order furniture that will take several weeks to get, you're probably going to get the best prices here again because of the pricing and inventory model.
