What a poor experience. This 3rd party Verizon Retailer does not care for customers. Their only interested in the bottom line....what's good for their business and making money at any costs. How disappointing....even for a little Verizon based in the middle of nowhere in Ely, Nevada. I was exploring Great Basin National Park.....using my selfie stick to take photos, I accidentally dropped my phone and it shattered. I was no longer able to use my camera and I could sense my phone had internal damage. Incredible...Great Basin is one of the most desolate parks in all of the United States and here I am with a broken phone. It was mandatory I find a place to find a get phone. There were no alternatives. Also, this was just the 2nd day on my week long vacation. How unfortunate the timing, ugh. Incredibly I had to trek 60 long miles to arrive at the nearest town which was here in Ely (literally situated on the Loneliest Road in America). That's how secluded and off the beaten path this whole mess manifested itself to be. I finally came to this Verizon - Russell Cellular. I walked in and the 2 employees working said there was nothing they could do for my phone. I figured that. I knew....at this moment, I had no alternative but to purchase a brand new phone. Not only this, But I had AT&T as my carrier and realized I'd have to switch to Verizon. This was terrible for me....worst case scenario. Ultimately, I hadn't even paid off my broken phone w/ AT&T, and now I not only had to do that, but also I was submissively forced to buy a new phone with Verizon combined with starting a new 2 year contract with them. The whole process was a living nightmare. I also purchased a new screen saver and case for this new IPhone 10. It took me roughly 2 hours for the whole process to get resolved and for me to accept the terms of this entire undertaking.....getting the new phone, switching to Verizon, backing up my info to the Cloud, start-up fees, adapting to a new phone,....etc. It hurt my heart to go through this whole ordeal. But.....I needed a new phone no matter what and it was imperative to have a camera because my sightseeing vacations involve snapping scenic photos in nature. Here's where everything went downhill, I felt sick to my stomach. The worst of it all.... If anyone out there can understand what I'm about to explain..... I switched from AT&T to Verizon and bought a brand new IPhone 10 Max. These employees at Russell Cellular offered me NO DEALS or price breaks or any sort of incentives. NOTHING!!!! When I arrived home, I inquired that Verizon had a BOGO - buy one, get one free....yet Russell Cellular didn't offer it. Verizon also had a special if you switch carriers (like I did from AT&T to Verizon), they offered you $300 to make the change. Russell Cellular never offered me this!! These 2 incentivizing deals would have certainly assisted and lessened the blow I was feeling all within the tight bind I found myself at that moment. And yet here I was....quite a vulnerable position and Russell Cellular charged me FULL PRICE FOR EVERYTHING and were completely MUTE about any deals or loyalties or incentives or sympathies for my situation! They viewed me as a stranger who was at their mercy and was forced to play by "their terms" by purchasing a phone at full price with them. Well yes, they took FULL ADVANTAGE!!! I'm writing to let everyone out there know....that this type of business and practice should be disallowed. For any folks or just the average consumer....beware....do your homework ahead of time. Because....even just a tiny "mom and pop" little 3rd party - authorized Verizon Retailer does not care about the consumer or loyalty or assisting anyone who's in quite the vulnerable state that I found myself to be that day.....they only care about bringing in the most money to benefit their sales and achieving whatever quotas need to be met. Are there any honest people or businesses out there anymore???? Even a place like Russell Cellular in bumble-nowhere Ely, Nevada will take advantage of the powerless and rip you off. read more
