Rupert & Hound is a seafood restaurant located on the banks of the North Esk River at Launceston's Seaport. This was our "fine dining" experience during our recent stay in Launceston. This place was a bit of a hike from our hotel, but well worth the exercise.
The service here was perhaps the best I've experienced in awhile. That included being seating, early drinks, ordering, deliver from the kitchen, and paying up front. There was the right amount of checking in, without being overbearing. That included our interaction with a supervised trainee.

Our wine? Tasmanian selections of course, including my nice choice of a dry Riesling. Cheesy Bread started us as the first choice off the menu, followed by a variety of seafood choices. I chose the Crumbled Tasmanian Scallops (with Chips). All were spot on in terms of presentation, taste, and portions.
There was no rush to give up our table, but we did cut it short when our other fellow travelers (at another table) were ready to leave. We had reservations, which became more evident with the folks crowding the entrance when we left. read more
