Went here for a meal and few drinks as a leaving 'do for a work colleague. Although nice and tidy…read moreand well presented, I feel that the food is over priced for what you get. Prior to the meal, we had asked for a copy of their current menu to be faxed/emailed to us six times, and never received a copy. We managed to get a copy of their menu and grill menu from their website, only to find when we arrived completely different meals were on offer. We received a call the night prior to the event saying the booking had been 'lost in their system' and we had to re-book ourselves in. The booking had been made at that point for well over a couple of weeks. Despite this, the food was tasty and nicely presented, and although it was filling at the time, it didn't take long before we were all hungry again. Two of my colleagues got their meals as the rest of us were nearly finished eating ours, which made some of us feel a bit selfish for having started eating our meals else they would have gone cold. Baring in mind we were the only people in the restaurant (around 12 of us from what I remember), this was a little off-putting. As Zaza is a small establishment, you can only reach the top floor, where we were seated, via a tiny steep staircase; and the toilets from another tiny, equally steep, staircase from the ground floor. It was rather concerning that a colleague of ours tripped upstairs, and though we jokingly blamed it on the wine she had been drinking, the owner, carrying two of our meals, then also went headlong up the stairs. It was rather well done that he didn't tip the meals all over the floor. Quite dangerous! I can compliment Zaza on having an excellent selection of alcohol. Though the wine is also expensive, I had a pint of warm winter cider, and strawberry cider at £3.50 each. Absolutely delicious!
