From a cancer care standpoint, The Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia is awesome. The nurses…read moreespecially are amazing. What isn't great is that the rooms seem to be designed by someone completely clueless to the fact that sick people are living there for months at a time. There are no creature comforts, only a tiny cupboard and cabinet to store a meager amount of belongings. A rock hard sofa. A shower that allows water to run every where on the floor of the bathroom. No shelves, no tackqble surfaces to hang pictures or cards from well wishers. NO pantry area for families to prepare food or get drinks or ice. You must ask the nurses for everything except for a few microwaves here and there. On top of that, food services seem to have been trained in food preparation decades ago and are almost unaware of the plethora of food allergies and sensitivities people have in this day and age. The cafeteria is a wealth of deep fried and unhealthy and processed foods. The servers are insensitive and unhelpful to people with food sensitivities. I was blown away by the lack of choices and supplemented my sick sister with homemade food that I drove an hour each way to deliver. Some days she was told they had no food for her--a cancer patient!! SAD

This is an extremely stressful time and having delt with the others first hand ie: Virtua /Penn , a rather very unfortunate experience to say the very least, Cooper Voorhees is far above and beyond all the nonsense that goes on at Virtua /Penn. The employees at Cooper Voorhees understand exactly what you and your loved one are facing and they know exactly how to make you feel great in such trying times and they do it very very well. While it's a shame that I simply cannot come close to saying any of the same for Cooper hospital in Camden NJ, I do prey for anyone ending up there for testing or anything else and prey some of the employees there get their heads checked and straightened out, however Cooper Voorhees as far Oncology or any other services is where you want to be if unfortunately you need such services. Save yourself the pain, the stress, and the tears of the foul treatment people receive at Virtua /Penn, and go straight to Cooper Voorhees, and let your worries fade away at least a bit.

Now I have a son that used to go there and got treated for cancer who had a horrifying experience. He was kicked out of the hospital with the IV and catherer on him. He was discriminated on. Up to this day, he doesn't know why they did it. I know his girlfriend was there that day and they were having a loud conversation, nurses and security guard got into their business and wrongfully kicked him out knowing he was on strong medication and couldn't come out of there. They also used him as a guinea pig feeding him with hopes that he was gonna get better and he never did. The last thing that happened was they ignored a back pain he was having they kept telling him it was all in his head. Four months later, his spine broke because they did not take the proper care to look into the pain he was having. Finally I called 911 one day I went to his house because his girlfriend abandoned confined to a bed with his four children. He was taken to Jean's hospital and did all type of test and finally found out he had a cancerous tumors on his spine and from there he kept going down the hill until he pass away. The end of the story was sad.

It's adjacent to the Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell so there's always something to do if you arrive early to avoid a traffic jam or other delays that pop up unexpectedly. There's also plenty of tourists around so for someone like me lots of people to strike up a conversation with. Today my phlebotomist was Jennifer, she was so friendly, very proficient at her skills and she was sporting some very fashionable red shiny athletic shoes. If Dorothy wasn't so hung up on those clickable healed shoes these would be her kicks! My nurse was Chevon who was also very pleasant. This location part of Penn Medicine runs very smoothly. I have never had a wait longer than 15 minutes past my appointment time. Courtney & Michael handle the coordination of infusions and a lot of other things. The reception (check-in & check-out) staff are all also kind, helpful and efficient. Dr. David H. Henry, MD is my practitioner here and he is professional, kind, thoroug and is in and out like a flash unless your health warrants a longer visit. He is very familiar with your case, your medical history and current issues before entering the room. They draw labs before you go into the exam room and have some results in minutes so the doctor gets a good evaluation of you the day of your visit. This team makes a difficult situation as pleasant as possible.

I never thought that I would be treated horrible due to my appearance. I'm an African American Muslim woman. As soon as I was brought to the floor there was a white nurse who looked at me with a very disgusted look, at the time I noticed the look but, I was to worried about getting treatment for a very serious condition to give much thought to it. However, on 5/2/26 I had this same nurse her was Lorena from 2 south . She came in the room , stated her name and left out. Then she came back in ( the whole time with a very disgusted look on her face as if I was an annoyance to her). She came to give me meds and I asked a questioned about the meds , she instantly got a attitude, and walked out of the room while I was on a heart monitor and never came back in the room. I called for a different nurse and she blocked my request. She left me that way all night with no care. Thank God there was a tech by the name of Mia! She stepped in and help me. I was traumatized by this incident and was ready to leave . None of the Dr.'s addressed the issue of racism that could have caused a death. I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE AFTER BEING IGNORED BY A UNPROFESSIONAL CAUCASIAN NURSE WHO WAS SO DISRESPECTFUL TO THE FIELD OF NURSING BY HER ACTIONS! SHE LEFT THE ROOM NEVER RETURNED TO MY ROOM EVEN AFTER THE MACHINES ALARMS WERE GOING OFF NEEDING TO BE ATTENDED TO! LAKENAU SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS WOMAN AROUND SICK PATIENTS WHEN SHE'S RACIST! SHE CAN CAUSE A PATIENT TO BECOME TERMINALLY ILL ! LAKENAU NEEDS TO HAVE HER INVESTIGATED! I'M WRITING THIS BECAUSE THERE ARE VERY SICK AND DYING PATIENTS ON THAT FLOOR, AND THEY ARE PEOPLES GRANDPARENTS, MOTHERS, FATHERS, SIBLINGS , AUNTS AND UNCLES! On the bright side I want to thank the KIND SOUL MIA for coming in and helping me! She was a TECH who acted better and showed a skill set of human kindness!

Dr. Horkheimer received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was patient, informative and has a fantastic bedside manner. I was a mess at the time and he looked past it and helped to settle my nerves. As for the staff, you had some good and some bad. Most of the nurses are great. The woman who make the appointments were always helpful as well. Once and a while I had or saw someone else have some trouble with a particular girl at the front desk. I also had some issues with a couple of the woman giving transfusions. For one they would barely introduce themselves and then Im hard to stick and they would make it obvious when they were annoyed. These things make an uncomfortable situation worse. I add this in because no matter how great a doctor is he is only as good as his staff will allow. Overall my experience here was a 7 out of 10 and if I had any problems I would go back without hesitation.
