He walked us through the obvious steps of the process as if we were slow, without actually answering the questions we asked. He followed up with a brief email containing a quote and nothing else. I emailed him my questions on July 22 and got no response. When I called to follow up, he answered by asking if I was a different client, using that person's full first and last name, rather than asking who was calling. For a firm handling people's financial information, that's a problem. When I asked about my questions, he said he didn't care, that the lawyer would answer if he answered, and hung up on me. I reported this to the manager, Joshua Rubio, who was apologetic and asked me to send my questions so the attorney could respond. Instead of answers, I eventually got a forwarded email from a senior partner declining to take my business, saying the relationship had broken down. The only thing that had broken down was that I complained about how their case manager treated me. None of my actual questions were ever answered. The quote was reasonable, but I could not get basic information before paying.

The words spoken out of my attorneys mouth were along the lines of saying how I am out for blood, the mediator never liked me from the get-go & turned him off from the case, the only thing you should be doing is thanking me.... & that is not even close to the worst of it. *note this is after my case closed, she was fake nice the entire time which is now extremely evident. She continued to go on saying I never had a case to behind with blah blah... All due to me kindly asking how I'd receive payment and a tax question. At the beginning of the saga of my case the experience with Karns & Karns was pretty standard. I…read moreactually worked at a PI law firm so knew what was typical procedure & what to generally expect. My firm could not handle the case as it was not a litigation firm and as a governmental claim, the case was definitely going to litigation. However, as time passed & we got about a year+ into the process I was getting passed around from case managers to the point where I didn't know who was actually supposed to be my direct contact and when I called I could never speak to someone, I had to request a call back and then I may or may not receive a call for weeks. Then it became months where I had no contact or updates despite calling/emailing and had to follow the case progress by checking it on the court case search website that I knew was possible from my previous background at a PI firm. While I am aware that recourse exists it by no means allows for or excuses the lack of communication on behalf of the firm. Especially, when I would reiterate the need to be provided updates when anything happened with my case when I would hear back to my efforts to communicate. Not one single time was I informed by the firm any one of the times my court date changed, a filing was made, the case changed judges, of any details in the discovery, etc.. Mind you my accident occurred in April 2016 and only this January 2023 was it finally settled. In January I did finally hear from an attorney about a week or two before the settlement. Overall, the outcome was not great. I basically had to accept that even though other party was admittedly at fault for texting and driving causing the incident the firm insisted that based on my experience in PI and my previous career in modeling/spokesmodeling/action sports journalist it would be unlikely a jury would give me a more favorable outcome so I would do best to settle poorly rather than insist on proceeding with litigation. Fine. However, since settling the experience has become INFURIATING. My "case manager" Evelyn doesn't answer the questions I have had regarding the distribution and I get sidestepping replies that do not answer the question or has just ignored my emails. When she did call me it was to condescendingly explain how the distribution percentages were calculated but was completely unaware that at the time of settlement one of the partners had revised the attorney fees that would be incurred so the document she prepared was in fact incorrect and if she ever took the time during the 7 years to know me as a client she'd remember that I worked in accounting at a PI firm so know very well how the distribution documents are prepared. When I did receive the the distribution (that needed correction so I did not sign) I was given a timeline for payment remittance of 20 days. Through email with Evelyn, the partner and myself we reached what was supposed to be the revised amount for attorney fees to be on a revised document. Which I still haven't received a copy of to review and sign. Today, when I asked for the 4th or 5th time why there has been a delay in getting the revised doc and payment issued that has extended to 90+ days a check was issued that I have no idea what the amount is since I still don't have a revised distribution document and was not provided one any of the several times I requested it today. To make it even better the mystery amount check was mailed to my address from 3 relocations ago despite having updated my information various times throughout these years. I also had to repeatedly ask that it was mailed certified mail with a tracking number when initially told they would only send it via regular mail and that it would be 7-10 days to receive it. Which is unreasonable from LA to OC and why I wanted confirmation they were actually sending it today by requiring tracking information. When I saw the mistaken address on the tracking information I insisted on I tried to immediately call Evelyn to sort out the issue. Nope, could only request a call back. I didn't hear from her so called again a few hours later. Again, only allowed to request a call back. Shockingly, no call back has been received from her or accounting. Maybe next week I will receive a copy of the revised distribution agreement to actually agree to and sign before they issue another mystery amount check to the correct address.

I did A LOT of research and consultations when looking for a lawyer to help me with my case. I knew instantly after talking to Scott, that he was the one I wanted to represent me. What made my decision to go with Scott, is that you can tell that he's honest & concise. He did not give me any empty promises & prepared me for what my best/worst outcome could look like. It was clear from the start that he truly understood my values to have the best outcome while also being mindful of protecting my family and avoiding unnecessary pain or conflict. Seriously, thank heaven/god/universe, that I made the right choice in having Scott as my lawyer! I got the best outcome because of him. He handled my case with professionalism and integrity. Throughout the process, he was consistently responsive and informative--something I didn't realized how much I needed until I experienced it. He was extremely patient with me, always taking the time to answer my many questions, even when they were repeated. Thank you, thank you Scott!!

After over a year the judge finally requested I appear. Scott informed me to show up at 8. I work mornings so I took time off work. I showed up and he was not there, I tired contacting him and I was ignored. I told the bailiff my attorney never showed up and what I can do they told me to come back at 2:30pm. I returned and Scott finally showed up. He didn't acknowledge me at all until I went up to him and told him to just accept the plea because I didn't trust his services after ignoring me. Part of the plea was house arrest. He never helped with that process and when I asked him for help and that I was stressing he said he is no longer counsel post conviction. You would think after messing up and ignoring me the last court date he would try to make it up but nothing. I cannot in good faith recommend Scott for his services. He did not have my best interest and caused me more stress and headaches. I honestly should've just gone with a public defender. Thousands of dollars later I feel in a worse situation then I started. I hope this helps someone from having a similar experience
