Heather brings a lot of positive energy, thoughtful lesson plans, thorough progress notes, and a genuine desire to see our daughter grow and learn. Ms. Fleming is open to partnering with both our daughter's school teacher and our ideas for topics to cover (e.g. counting money, learning to tell time, etc.) in the lesson plan. Would highly recommend!

Would you like to extend the learning beyond what the classroom can provide? Would you like lessons tailored to fit the needs of your child? I can make this happen and more by taking instruction to the next level this school year! I can assess the needs of your child and create an individualized and engaging approach to learning pre K through 6th grade. I can provide direct instruction, activities and games tailored to your child. Our weekly sessions can really make a difference, in supporting new concepts, maintaining existing ones, buildIng and maintaining math and read fluency, and progressing in core content areas. I will progress monitor and use data to drive my instruction. I am a math and reading interventionist. I will have monthly check in's with the classroom teacher with the purchase of any package. I can infuse social and emotional support and lessons as well!

We began the summer with an overqualified in-home Tutor. Her materials and methods were great but…read morewe weren't seeing the progress we were hoping for or any interest or motivation changes in our daughter. And before long our daughter had our tutor's personality figured out and then it became a game of procrastination ;) From day one our daughter couldn't wait to go back to Sylvan. She looks forward to it. Her attitude towards learning is already changing and she is being affected by other ancillary benefits of the Sylvan experience such is patience, manners and respecting quiet spaces. Sylvan clearly sets a high standard for their educator's approach to children. Each instructor has been polite, patient and consistent with our daughter. And the effect has been wonderful so far. Full disclosure: I might be a little biased because I attended Sylvan for a few years in the mid '80s 1st-3rd grade. But it helped me and it appears they've only improved their approach.

So keep in mind most of the reviews you will read i've been heavily influenced with free tutoring in exchange for positive reviews. My experience with the school was unimpressive. From the very beginning all they wanted to talk about was the payments and how much it was going to cost they didn't seem concerned with offering up any information about how the school runs. It felt like an extremely rushed process Focus was always around money. The intake person that we dealt with did not seem like she was that interested. Acted bothered by my questions almost. While we were in there the place seemed very disorganized. They claim to have a maximum of three students per teacher but they're all lumped into one noisy room. One of the main reasons I chose this place was because of its overwhelming reviews but now that I know that those reviews are bought and paid for and after my initial experience we chose to go a different route.

Scott Clyburn has created fantastic place for students to prepare for SSAT, SAT, ACT, LSAT, and…read moremore. I have been thrilled with the assistance and teaching my son received from Scott - precise, persistent, insightful. My son enjoyed and loved learning from Scott. A little bit of humor and cheerful attitude helped too. My son achieved ACT score he hoped for and eventually enrolled in a college of his choice. My niece worked with Matt to improve her LSAT score - she achieved significantly higher score in a short time!!! She acknowledges that Matt's help was decisive in her better LSAT score. I am so very happy to have worked with Scott and his wonderful colleagues at North Avenue and I truly admire their expertise and the place they have created - it gives confidence and trust! Thank you North Avenue Eduction!!!

Scott is beyond great. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in GRE, grad school prep,…read moreadmissions essays-- he is sensational. Scott was able to work with my schedule and helped me a great deal with my GRE's (I met him as he was my GRE prep instructor through Sherwood Learning) in both math and writing sections. After I took my GRE's and did far better than I would have without the prep course, I wanted to take my application process seriously and not be rejected like some of my friends, and especially in this competitive higher education rat race, so I hired Scott to help me with my admissions essays. I got it to my first school of choice , first time applying and I'm really pleased with my experience with Scott. He gives constructive criticism, is very articulate and kind, strength-based, and he had me when he quoted 'Zoolander'. I can safely say I couldn't do it without him.
