Our excellent lunch.
Rene L.

Small dining room is deceiving, it can actually accommodate 25-30 customers, but fear not, there is a second dining room that can easily accommodate 100 +/-. Went to lunch here today with a friend who is a big fan of Indian cuisine, having had it literally all over the world. He did the ordering. We started with a Taj Mahal Indian beer, one of several selections of imported and domestic beers and wines offered. We had the vegetable samosa as our appetizer: crispy pastries filled with potato, peas and spices. NOT GREASY! Had to emphasize this point, had them in other restaurants and thought they should be called "greasy devils." Then it was off to two of his favorites that quickly became mine as well: Mutter Paneer - Paneer, peas, tomato based sauce, Garam masala, spices. (Paneer is a type of cheese.). Then Chicken Korma - grilled chicken breast chucks cooked in rich cashew cream sauce. We each had a side of flavorful rice and shared the freshly made naan. At my friends suggestion (am I glad that he did) we each had an order of rice pudding for dessert. It tasted to cardamon, rose water, nuts and saffron. Although I have never visited India, I have been to "Indian" restaurants. After this feast, I feel that others were imposters while this was authentic on many levels. Fast, attentive service without fuss. A pleasant Summer lunch. Now time for a nap.

I might agree there has been some service issues as help is hard to find in Keene however the food here is nothing less than amazing.

Today I visited Bombay Royale, and I was truly touched by the hospitality shown by Jeemol, Sojan,…read moreand George. We arrived very close to closing time, and usually that's when you don't expect the best food or service. However, the staff were incredibly prompt, courteous, and genuinely warm throughout our visit. We ordered the saag paneer, dal makhani, and garlic naan, and everything arrived hot with perfectly balanced flavors and spice levels -- exactly what we needed on a cold, rainy night. The food was exceptional, and we made sure to thank the chef personally. The prices were very reasonable, the restaurant had beautiful music playing, the tables and linens were spotless, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. To top it all off, they surprised us with dessert on the house. The entire experience was heartfelt and memorable. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and outstanding hospitality.

The descriptions and spice level were super helpful. I think the restaurant tried too hard to appeal to American taste buds that many of the items seemed bland. Don't get me wrong, I like mild but there was little taste. Complimentary naan was warm and fluffy.

Sorry, it just wasn't a good experience. Terrible service and mediocre food…read more Came for lunch with a party of three. It was not busy. Discovered it from a positive review on a msg board. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and naan to share, but we each had one item that we favored. I asked if everything can come at the same time. They said yes. Each dish came out one at a time, 15-20 minutes apart. After each dish, I asked if the rest was coming together. They kept saying yes. By the third time, I explained what we wanted again and they again said the rest was coming out together. Nope. I told the waitress that we were disappointed with what was happening and asked if she can bring the final dishes together. She said yes. Nope. My boyfriend got the meal he ordered last, approx. 1.5 hours after we got there. It was luke warm. The food was mediocre (at best). They hardly checked on us, we kept having to ask for drinks. We just wanted to leave and it took a long time to get the check. We were there almost 2 hours in total. The chicken chilli came with sesame seeds on it. I've never seen that before and it wasn't in the listed ingredients. I have an allergy to it, my bad for not declaring it but if they are going to list the ingredients, I wish they listed all of them. I've only tipped service less than 20% in my entire life, even for bad service, on principle. I tipped 15% here and as I walked out, I felt like that was too much. Some of the worst service I've had.

Wonderful restaurant that raises the standard in this part of New England for Indian cuisine. It…read morewas a bit out of my usual neighborhood and so it took a while to uncover. But finally I did and boy am I happy. Very much a family affair - husband and wife who share maitre'd and server responsibilities. And other relatives in the kitchen cooking up a storm. What first grabbed my attention were the huge number of dosas they offer. Seeing any dosa on a menu at all is a rarity and so to see the wide variety they feature was amazing. I opted for the Andhra Kara Masala and it was excellent. The dosa itself crispy and warm and the condiments beautifully integrated. We opted for the mixed veggie pakoras as an appetizer on the recommendation of the owner and they were served warm and crispy. The batter was light - nothing like the thick sludge that usually adorns the deep fried nuggets of vegetable delight. The accompanying tamarind sauce was sweet and clean and the mint-cilantro suitably refreshing. Lovey got garlic naan and saag paneer. Smooth and creamy, the saag was exactly as hoped for and the garlic naan was chewy, warm and toothsome. Dessert was carrot halwa. Hard to believe carrots make such an excellent warm dessert but they do. Richly satisfying with just the right touch of sweetness. We look forward to returning and sampling the rest of the menu!

It's a place his dad has taken him to before and he loves it! We go for Indian food occasionally and we like it, so off we went to Salem NH. Grandson ordered a dosa for all of us as an appetizer, something with chopped onions, it was pretty good. My dish was the saag paneer, which I ordered what they call "American spicy." Spicy? Not! If I go back, I'd order Indian Medium Spicy! My husband liked his chana masala. Both were served with white rice. My son-in-law had a korma dish, I don't remember which one, Indian medium spicy, loved it, and he ordered garlic naan. We ordered roti. My grandson is gluten free and dairy free. I don't remember what he ate, but he's all in when he's predisposed to liking something, so I only remember that he was happy with it! We love the carrot halwa at our local favorite Indian restaurant in midtown Manhattan, so we ordered it for all 4 of us. It was much sweeter than we're used to; tasty but too sweet to finish. Anyway, it's a good local choice up there and my grandson chose it again just the other day for his birthday dinner out!
