They have a very good choice of good makeup for dress up but it comes with a bit of a price- as expected! I just cellotaped a load of purple balloons onto a black bin bag and put a green hair bobble on the top of my head. Simple. I couldn't sit down the whole night and I had a few punctures along the way - thankfully I had some spare. Anyway, I looked ridiculous but it made people laugh and I guess that's what fancy dress is all about, well, better that than people who use it an excuse to go out with their bits on show. If you're looking for a fancy dress costume then Fun World is definitely the place for you, they have over 5000! From emus, santas, Disney characters, tellytubbies and Betty Boop to um... Hitler and Sadam Hussein. Maybe steer clear of the last two. All hire costumes are individually priced but they don't come cheap, so make sure you don't go too wild with you're costume on. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be lumped with a couple hundred pound fine for an ostrich costume missing a beak.

This store has all your usual skimpy numbers for you shameless hussy's out there including a selection of Legs Avenue costumes which are ridiculously expensive considering they are so tiny and don't cover your bum or your nipples. Fun World also has much more modest versions of the classics such as police officers, pirates, cowboys/girls etc. but what Fun World does best is costumes that are a little bit more original and humorous. You'll find things little characters from Little Britain, sperm (yes, sperm) and Popeye. They also have a great selection of accessories to really complete your look such as hats, footwear, face paints and wigs. You can buy most of the costumes although they are very expense or hire them which is obviously cheaper. The staff are so helpful and a good laugh and there is a party feel about the place. Ok I got the words "bum", "nipples" and "sperm" into that review and I wasn't even reviewing a sex shop. That has to be a Yelp first surely?

All the shops that we had ventured into were wither too expensive or didn't have a very good selection to choose from. Thankfully, our walk led us into the path of Stir Crazy and we were able to pick up some outfits here. I got a skeleton outfit and my friend got a devil costume and they were very reasonably priced compared to some of the other shops that we had went into that day. During the rest of the year, Stir Crazy also do costumes for general fancy dress and have a really good website with lots of ideas to help you think of the perfect costume. They also do novelty items to help accompany your costume as well as offering fancy dress options for children.

WOW!!! I drove past…read morethis shop on my way to Inverness, and I had to park to go and have a closer look. It was so f***ing cool!! It is a charity shop for save the children, but completely unlike all the others I've been in before. I felt like I was in the gift shop of an art gallery, everything is kitsch and retro, and the colours are amazing. The whole shop is decorated brilliantly and it looks like something out of the movies. Upon further investigation, I found out that the shop is owned by TV retail advisor and Save the Children Ambassador, Mary Portas, and it is infact a designer charity shop. I didn't know you could get them! I plan to spend an awful lot more time in here.

Essentially, it is - boasting secondhand designer clothing and accessories, it's got some chic and often retro offerings. So you can get a snazzy outfit for a dinner party at an absolute steal of a price! With its creaky, varnished floorboards and warm lighting, it feels as though you're in Monsoon rather than in a charity establishment. The pictures toward the back of the shop remind you of who you are helping, however, making finding a bargain in Mary's an ethical choice! Gok Wan would be all about it!
