I am handicapped; I have neuropathy pain in my feet and the severity comes and goes. I can hardly walk today I'm in so much pain. I pulled up in front of the sliding metal doors to the nursery to ask the guy sitting right at the door if they had Clematis vines. I was parked 6' away from him with my hazard lights blinking. I smiled and said hi and I asked him through my car window if they had Clematis vines. He was cold and unfriendly and works in the garden department but he didn't know what Clematis was and instead of opening his phone and looking it up, he said "what's that?" I explained and then he pulled out his phone and he asked me to spell it for him and I did, and then he showed me a picture and he said "is this it?" and I said "yes" Then he said "okay, it says we have one". I said "I need three, so all you have is one?" "No, (he said impatiently) no, it says we have 10." I said "okay, thank you, but you said you had one". Then I said "I need three, and I'm handicapped and there are no handicapped carts on this side of store. So will you please walk in and get three for me, and you put them in my car for me?" He said "No I can't. I can't leave my post here." I said "okay I understand, will you please call customer service and ask them if they can send someone to come and help me?" He said "No, I can't do that." I asked an older couple walking into that door if they would look to see where they are for me, and they couldn't find them. When they asked him where they were, he pointed to a stand with pack of seeds in it. They told him I wanted the plants. He said "well all we have seeds." OH MY GOD, ALL OF THAT FOR NOTHING!

Since Smart and Final moved to their new location, they became my go to grocery store to shop at…read more It is close to me and believe it or not they are more reasonable then SaveMart. My issue is with management. 50% of the time that I go there, shopping carts are no where to be found accept out in the parking lot, and when they are in the designated spot, the spot is usually dirty, ugly and it is sad and irritating that people don't take pride on what they do. Last week the Dairy shelf was out of their First Street 2% milk gallons. I was told that the staff or stockers sucked. PLEASE DO BETTER!

Yolanda at Smart & Final was wonderful to me tonight. I had a cart full of stuff, and I got up to…read morethe checkstand and started putting things down and then realized I had left my bags in my car. Because I'm 73 and my hands hurt, I have special bags that are easier to carry from my car into the house when I get home, so it was important for me to go get them. My car was in the first handicapped space right in front of the door and I knew it would only take me a second to dash out and get them; there was only one woman behind me so I told her and the checker what happened, had her go ahead and go in front of me, and I ran out for just a few seconds, and hit my bags. But when I came back, there were five people behind her. I was stressed and didn't know what to do because I didn't want to jump the line, but 1/2 of my groceries had gone though the conveyer belt. The checker "Yolanda" saw my distress and leaned over and said to me "it's OK, I've got you, I put your things aside right here next to me and I'll just bring them to you when you get up here". I was so relieved by her kindness I was nearly in tears. When I finally got to her she was even more sweet and patient. She rang me up, bagged my groceries for me, and actually walked around her counter and put my bags into my cart for me. She had noticed that I gave her many more bags than I would need, and when I saw her begin to bag them I'd asked her to please use more of the bags to keep them light because I had a hard time lifting them. So of course (considering the caring heart that I'd already seen she had) she even put them in the cart for me. Yolanda is the epitome of what customer service personnel should be like, but sadly that kind of friendly and helpful service is found less and less often. Smart & Final, my advice is that you should Immediately promote Jessica to training your staff. I've been a manager and have trained staff in varied areas of business, and I'd steal her from you in a second if I wasn't retired. That girl is management material and should at the very least be a training supervisor. She's one in a million.

I used to go most often to Family Dollar until it went out of business, but mostly because it was…read morecloser to my home. But Dollar General is not that much further and their prices are excellent. Today I paid only $2 each for really nice Bic Quick-Dry Gelocity pens that I'd pay a LOT more for anywhere else, and some really nice metal plant stakes for $1 each to hold up my small succulents when then get unhappy and pout by getting bendy from the heat. So for example, last night I spent quite a bit money at Dollar General, and Carlos, THE #1 BEST employees of nearly any store I go to, popped his eyeballs out when I turned the corner and headed towards him with my bright yellow cart not only full, but overflowing with little items trailing me as I struggled to wrangle my way around that tight little corner. He smiles and is sweet to me and helps get things out of my cart and walk around the counter and over and cook his thing at everything is heavy and then helped me out to my car with everything which he has done every time I shop there. I'll note that I'm 75 years old and have injuries on my right side from my neck, completely down my shoulder and my arm and I have carpal to both wrists right now but the right one I can't hardly do anything with and the back injuries prevent me from being able to bend over, so having employees like Carlos and Mark, who are so helpful and kind, will insure I'll be the most loyal customer they will ever have at that store. So I promote Dollar General AND Carlos and Mark on Yelp, on Google, and on the Next-door app as well, and I tell all of my friends about them and encourage them to shop there. If the people who own and manage this little store on 14th in Armona CA, would stop and think about how valuable these employees are, and train the rest their staff to be more like them, they would have so many customers they wouldn't even be able to handle them, and would have to hire more equally and personable people to work there. And so now after that wonderful review here comes that one star part - there are a couple of women who work there (and who were there last night, one them alternately glaring at Carlos and me for joking around while he rang up my purchase), and typical to their behavior whenever I'm there there never smile at me they clear if I ask him a question they snap and answer or point you guys ask them for something at the cash register i'll show you over and show it to me. That's customer service my opinion so I will go to Dollar General no matter what other store opens or re-opens anywhere else here locally, because of the great prices, service, friendliness and kindness that I get there and that's more important than anything else plus less expensive than anywhere else. So four star reviews only because of everybody and Mark are grumpy and rude so that gets one-star knocked out for the prices and the help from those two men four star Unbelievable I can't find anywhere else. I had a bunch of little ones that aren't mine but I borrow them for fun coming to a little swimming get together with me and my senior clubhouse and of course they didn't show up with any beach towels so instead of you to find the next time I bring it over I got size nice little beach towels for three dollars each and then they don't go home with the kiddles, they stay with me for the next time. there's too much for a dollar each. Carlos and Mark are what goes well because they are the best things about the store. They're welcoming and their friendly and they're helpful. Most of the other staff are none of those things.

Tons of different snacks and a ton of different items! The worker was kind and greeted. I bought some candies 3 for a $1, Gatorade and they didn't have grape, but did have fruit punch. Never mind! They do have grape! Just in a different location. Got and went to checkout. Paid for the order and the worker was kind. Good service and store! Recommended!
