Hi just a short note to tell you that St Andrews United Social Club is probably one of the best…read morevenues for live entertainment in the town. Every Saturday night other than private functions the club puts on entertainment usually free for members and signed in visitors. A ticket event was organised for last Sat 11th March Featuring the best 70s trbute band i have heard ( The Ballroom Gitz ) which sold out in less than 2 weeks of going on sale where a fantastic evening was had by all. The club has come through a very difficult time where many other Social Clubs have not survived, this has only been possible by the input and support of its members. With regards to Iain L's review this is his opinion and he is entitled to it. What i will say that since the Club has survived some tough times with the support and positivity of its members to get to where it is now, i would invite Iain to make an up to date review where his opinion will again be respected. I couldn't make up my mind last night if you actually have to belong to be able to book a night in…read morehere for any activities, but the Masonic Lodge here in Haddington is quite a nice, smaller hall for hosting activities, such as the fundraiser we went to last night. It's clean, tidy, with a small bar. If hosting, it looks like you can bring in your own food (such as the stovies folk around me tucked into). All around are little reminders of the connection of Burns and the Masons, but having a quick google doesn't bring up any historical connection between this lodge and the man himself. Very pleasant place, and always gives me a bit of a shiver to walk into such halls given the sometimes inaccessability of this group.
