This was a last minute decision while on a business trip with co-workers. We wanted to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain restaurant. Since none of us had been there, we second guessed our decision while attempting to find the place. Please, if you are like us,we thought they are not closed..turn around, go back....everyone parks in the back and you can't necessarily see this from the road. We attended on Mothers Day 2016, in our group we had a total of 18! The service, and the food, was TOP SHELF, as always! We are Lucky to also have 3 authentic German born, and raised ladies, in our group this year. They where more than surprised at how "authentic tasting and traditional" this place is, compared to the recipe's they grew up with, and have remembered since childhood! We came here on a Friday for my dad's birthday dinner. I thought it was excellent. Loved that the hostess where the traditional clothing, steins for sale and the overall ambiance of the place is on point. Husband got the spicy chicken sausages, were a little too spicy but very yummy. I got schnitzel which was delicious. Loved the gravy and potatoes. I was excited for my first visit here for my friends birthday party. I'm not sure how many guests she stated were coming to the establishment however there was approximately 35 people in a side room that comfortably sits about 20. The wait staff seemed they were trying their hearts out to get drink & appetizer orders from everyone however it was a stressful fiasco. They constantly had to walk thru the middle of 3 tables pushed together therefore consistently bumping everyone at the corners. It took about 10 minutes to get a drink (unfortunately only offer their German drafts) and about 30 to get an appetizer. Ordering entrees only proved more difficult. From the first entrée arriving to the last was about an hour. Couples were being served 1 plate at a time thus allowing the entrée to get cold unless you chose to just eat while your significant other twiddled their thumbs. Maybe I just don't...we just don't prefer German food but the 4 of us (at our corner of the table) all found the food to be pretty unsatisfactory. Our plates were cleaned up with at least 75% of the food left on them without a question by wait staff if there was something wrong. I will say my 25% was the mashed potatoes as those were to die for. Maybe they're used to that, maybe they were just busy. Regardless for 2 meals and 3 or 4 beers by my bf (I had water) we were out 70.00. Mind you this 70 dollar tab included a 10 dollar gratuity added on because of the size of the party. My question is this, what is that for? We weren't served as a group. We weren't even served as a couple. Drink wait time was minimum 5 minutes and it took us 1.5 hours to get all our food. I would of left a tip regardless but it seems the 10 dollar tip just gets thrown on there because they can because of the size of the group even though we weren't served as such. Ich liebe Royal Bavaria!!!! I am so conflicted about writing this review because I want to keep this place all to myself and not share with anyone ever for any reason. But, alas, I am here to sing the praises of what has now become my favorite spot in the OKC metro (at least for this week). This is authentic German fare straight from Deutschland. Everything we had at the table was fresh and awesome. The service was phenomenal and kid friendly. Laid back and authentic and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Sausages, schnitzel, pretzels, kraut, and don't miss the mashed potatoes and home made noodles too. The appetizers of pretzels and sausage sampler are killer. Nothing critical to say about this place. Absolutely loved it. There is a reason why people drive from all over to go to this place out in the middle of the country. A+ When I have people from out of town come to visit, this will now be the place I take them. Theres nothing like Royal Bavaria on this side of the Atlantic. read more

This place is simply amazing but sadly every time I go I can't eat my food. Not because it doesn't smell and look simply delicious, but because the beer is so flavorful. Each time I've went I ended up ordering two of their 2-liter boots (the King's Oktoberfest is a nice semi-dark malty beer with a hint of sweetness). Downing two of those left me super full and unable to remember my entire plate of food. Plus if manage to meet the owner and have a nice German conversation with him, he'll buy you shots of schnapps. My husband raved about this restaurant, and I can see why. It has a welcoming atmosphere with authentic decor, and the food is delicious with the best gravy (mushroom/bacon) I have ever had!! I only wish I could have come for the buffet, so I could have sampled a variety of food. Our server, Ariel, was very nice and attentive. My only minor complaint would be the portion sizes seemed a bit small when you're paying $20 per meal. Too bad they don't have a venue in North Fort Worth....it would be a HUGE hit and a regular stop if they did. If we're ever back in OKC, we'd certainly come again. read more

My review of the Royal Bavaria last night: I arrived early when there were a few people in the Beer Garden. Our waitress was kind and always checked up on us. A waitress sat on a table while texting and proceeded to put her foot on the table and flashed her lime green underwear. As the evening began to get crowded, our menus were taken from us because they didn't have enough to go around. I can understand why it became harder to get a waitress, because it was full, but at the same time, there were only 3/4 working the entire Beer Garden. I saw plenty of people that were ignored for around 10 to 20 minutes because the waitresses/waiters didn't see them at the entrance. My friend at our table ordered a water. Everyone had their drinks, and hers still did not come. Beer came out in the armloads though...When we asked our waitress about it, she said, "Sorry, we have to make our water. It's coming though." Who "makes" water? About 10 minutes later our waitress came out with 2 glasses of water and skipped our table. We waited another 5 minutes (being generous) and she finally got her water. With no straw, so we had to wait for that as well. The glasses had what looked like 'wax' stuck to them here and there. Gross. My friend Sara didn't even get her meal when the rest of the table got there food. We all ordered at the same time, we waited, then finally I had to tell a waiter to grab my friends food. It came out 2 minutes later so we knew it was just sitting there... The bill ended up being $50 for 2 pork chicken fried steaks (schnitzel). Food was good but not worth it. Overall...I will probably never eat here again. We tipped her well only because we aren't the type of people to pay $5 for a $50 meal. The people we hung out with were the only thing that made the experience bearable. The food wasn't authentic and did I mention we ate on plastic picnic tables? read more

Will not be returning. We went tonight and were seated in the back next to the restrooms and the drink station, feeling like part of the waitstaff eating on a break rather than guests paying for dinner. Additionally, the prices were outrageous!! A schnitzel was $18.97, when you can get a larger portion of the same thing at das boot for more than half the price. The service was awful, and we had to get up to get our own ketchup because we were never checked on. Also, half the fries were spilt on the serving tray by the waitress when the food was being delivered. She not only tried to pick them up with her bare hands and then put them back on my plate, but didn't offer to replace them with new fries. Who knows if that tray has ever been washed! Disgusting! Save your gasoline and your money and go to das boot instead. They may be run by the same owners but they don't compare. The prices shouldn't vary so much when the quality is the same, if not worse, at Royal Bavaria. read more

It might be off the beaten path, but it is well worth the drive. Excellent food (sausage platter is a great deal) AND they brew their own beer... Which is excellent as well. Services very good and the staff friendly. We went on a weeknight and it was slow but not dead. I'd guess weekends are busier. Get in your car and go for a drive. read more

$140.00 LEARNING EXPERIENCE! My family has been talking about visiting this place for some time. Well, last night 6 of us went, we each had the buffet. We all tried some of most everything on the buffet, with only one exception, me, my daughter and son in law had sauerkraut. Consequently, this morning I messaged everyone to see if they had a similar experience as myself, which was I was up sick all night. Come to find out my daughter and son in law were both sick throughout the night. The only commonality is we had the sauerkraut and the other 3 of our party had red cabbage. The rest of our dining experience consisted of sub-par cuisine, nothing like what I read about in other reviews. Everyone wanted tea until we discovered how weak and tasteless it was, then no one wanted tea. The service was so-so, with the exception of the 45 minutes we waited for coffee, that was just rude and unacceptable. It was our first time, and our last. read more

The food at this restaurant was delicious, without a doubt. Really enjoyed my steak it was awesome. BUT, the service was absolutely terrible. Could never get a refill, our waiter came around very little, and to top it off the manager was very rude. I tried to inform him of the service and he started arguing with me and my wife. He then proceeded to call my wife a liar and just publicly embarass my wife and I. And he did this all in front of my 9 month old daughter. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you are the typical "all you can eat" Okie that appreciates nothing more than a slab of overfried pork and a bunch of french fries, this is the dump for you. If you want genuine German food, LIKE THEY COOK IT IN GERMANY, go elsewhere. Their idea of Weinerschnitzel (normally a very tender, lightly seasoned veal very lightly breaded and quick fried in a skillet, not a basket, and NOT the size of a dinner plate) was a giant slab over pork loin, something like you would expect from Del Rancho with FRENCH FRIES that they call 'pomme frites' - absolutely no resemblance to what you would buy in Germany. German music doesn't make a German restaurant and this place is a waste of your money. read more

Went last night after a few months of anticipation and was completely disgusted. The food was AWFUL. I got Jagerbraten (roasted pork) and my mom got Gekochte (blank angus brisket) and both were gray and completely flavorless. Mine was all fat-it was literally congealing on the plate. Nothing had any flavor. Brussel sprouts very over cooked, german potatoes just grease chips. Sauerkraut cooked to mush. Spaetzel bland. It was so awful I couldn't even come up with the words to complain. Also tried 5 beers and was not impressed lighter beers tasted like coors light, medium beers like vinegar and the dark beer just okay but I didn't even order a small glass after the sampler. I actually got a bit sick after I got home. Don't waste your time. We have friends in Germany and have visited several times and this is NOT authentic German food. It is just nasty and expensive. Normally I would complain but I was really speechless with the lack of quality. I couldn't even find the words. Service was okay I will say but it wasn't busy. We finally ordered a bread basket which we had to pay extra for because we were hungry and it was fairly decent. With tip we spent $54 and basically got a bread basket. I will never go back. Don't waste your time and money. There are other places. read more
