Absolutely nothing the folks here could do about it. After housing us, and keeping in communication with us for a couple hours amidst an obviously busy day was truly something out of a good 'ole movie. We left with best wishes and lots of advice as we sent our car back to the dealership. We kid that will we come all the way back to Truth or Consequences from Las Cruces for even our next oil change because of how good these folks were to us. Carry on!

Coincidentally, we were just passing by a business called "Caballo Emergency Truck Repair." It was a Saturday, and, although the gate to the shop was closed, Mr. Schroeder, the owner, was kind enough to let us come in. He was very pleasant and willingly conducted a thorough and systematic check of all four wheels and the underside of our car. He did not find any problems. He then offered to ride in the car with us so that he could listen for the noise himself. Ultimately, he determined that there were no safety concerns and advised us on what services to get when we got home. He was courteous and professional, and it was obvious that he is a skilled and experienced mechanic. His shop was clean, well equipped, and well organized. We highly recommend him and his work!

I paid for a brake system overhaul and an AC belt/tensioner replacement. Within months, both systems failed -- the brakes twice, once resulting in a complete loss of braking on the interstate at the start of a cross-country trip, requiring a tow and missed travel plans. The belt/tensioner job turned out to be a misdiagnosis; the actual problem was a failing water pump. Both times, Big O Tires in Las Cruces correctly diagnosed and repaired the issues, fixing what C&K had charged me for but not resolved. Based on my experience, if you need accurate diagnostics and dependable repair work -- especially on safety-critical systems -- it may be worth the drive to Big O Tires in Las Cruces.
