I am exploring the Docklands. Recently had to come to this area as many friends are living this side! It is now easily accessible by the DLR (Docklands Light Railway).
The Royal Albert Dock is on the north side of the City Airport, one of the three docks which are part of the Royal Docks of the redeveloped Docklands. The Connaught Bridge splits the two docks, Royal Albert and Royal Victoria, with the third dock, King George V Dock on the south side of the City Airport.
The Dock can be reach via its own station, the Royal Albert DLR (located opposite the City Airport) and is the location of The London Regatta Centre (rowing and dragon boat racing centre), and the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Race Festival. An annual fundraising event in June, a fun family day out, with live music, martial arts displays, food festival, lion and dragon dances as some of the highlights including, of course, the dragon boat races.
Here is also the one restaurant Yi-Ban Chinese Restaurant, yet to try as the day we were there, it was closed for a VIP event. It has a terrace overlooking the Royal Albert Dock. And that's it, nothing else here, yet! It is still being developed as the next business centre. read more
