Not clean! We saw a cockroach running on the floor. It was cheap enough, service was ok...she forgot half the order, which was ok because we wanted to leave. Babies yelling and horrible music. Clean the place up: wash the walls, tables and floors.

Local diner pit stop ended up being a delicious surprise. I ordered a skillet that was really good. They made the tortillas to go with it- fresh. I am a sucker for a homemade- made to order tortilla! The service was top notch. Highly recommend stopping in! Don't let the simple appearance change your mind.

Lovely home style breakfast stop when passing through South Carolina. Great food choices and generous portions. Staff very friendly and atmosphere is cozy.

Cheese empanadas + chicken Jamaica (hibiscus iced tea)

The exterior threw me a bit but I was checking the reviews. When I got inside it felt very comfortable and the atmosphere was pleasant. I was served by Jacky who had a great, happy personality and she was kind enough to give me recommendations. Based on her suggestion, I ordered cheese empanadas with chicken. These were shockingly delicious and an I now highly recommend them as well! Very fresh, soft on the outside and very flavorful! I'd definitely go back!

Gross. French fries tasted like frozen grocery store fries, burger was flat gross, chicken wrap was so spiced it couldn't be eaten, and the place is dirty!

The Governor Dish

Outstanding service, food quality was just what the pictures looked like on the menu and were delicious. Definitely would recommend to friends and family.

Our road trip included one night at a Hampton. Though off of I95, it was in the middle of no where with only fast food nearby. We expanded our dinner search and netted a real winner with Roxy's. It was about a 14 minute drive from the hotel but well worth it. My wife went in with a strong intention of getting a burger, and I was leaning more toward a steak or ribs. After chatting with the owner (yes he was the host) about what was available (no steak or ribs) he suggested some Mexican street dishes. We settled on beef and chicken sopes and chicken empanadas. The three empanadas were stuffed with a tasty meat filling, and attractively topped with with lettuce, chopped tomatoes, queso, queso fresco, avocado, and a touch of cilantro. We loved them. The pastry was light, thin, and crispy--simply the best I have ever tasted. The sopes were delicious as well, and similarly topped as the empanadas. This authentic street food was washed down with a cold Modelo. Does it get any better than that? We chatted with the owner after dinner, and he was especially proud of his breakfast menu. It did look good. We will definitely be back at Roxy's if we're ever within 10 or 15 miles! It's a neat and clean restaurant with a terrific menu, and friendly staff. Please support this local small business. You'll be glad you stopped in.

Huevos rancheros eggs over medium

Great find! The place has indoor seating and the inside is nice and open. There is also covered outdoor seating if it's not too chilly. I had the huevos rancheros with red salsa. The salsa on the eggs was so delicious and bad a nice spice to it. I asked for a spicier sauce and got a homemade salsa that had more of a kick and was equally delicious. Service was great as were prices!

Sunday fried chicken in a converted gas station five miles outside Savannah, with oysters that I'm…read morestill thinking about three days later. That's the short version. Here's the longer one. Erica Davis Lowcountry sits on Victory Drive in Thunderbolt -- a town so small it has exactly one square mile of land and a name borrowed from a lightning strike that supposedly split open a freshwater spring on the Wilmington River bluff. The restaurant itself has a similar origin story: a long-shuttered seafood spot called Teeple's, left empty for years, brought back to life by Erica and Dwight Davis with real care. The gaslight sconces out front stayed. So did the bones of the building. The garage doors open when the weather cooperates. We came in late on a Friday, catching the final stretch of their brunch service. Hannah (I believe) was our server -- in training, which you wouldn't have guessed. She steered us well and managed the table (and the room) with a confidence that didn't feel performed. We started with the Barbecue Shrimp and the Oysters Rockefeller. The barbecue shrimp -- Georgia shrimp in a spiced, rich sauce served with toasts -- was good but the one I'd skip on a return visit. The Oysters Rockefeller are the opposite story: roasted, finished with creamed collards and parmesan, and genuinely one of the better bites I've had in recent memory. Order them. My husband had the Wassaw Redfish -- pan-seared over stone-ground grits with garlic beurre blanc and heirloom tomato. Clean, confident cooking. I had the Sunday fried chicken, which delivered exactly what that dish promises when it's done right. Sides of fresh green beans, South Georgia collards, and Erica's Famous Coleslaw held their own across the board. Dessert was the Key Lime Pie, served in a cup that does not prepare you for how good it is. Tart and creamy in the right proportion. We didn't leave any behind. The family's seafood history in Savannah goes back to 1946. You can feel that kind of depth in a kitchen -- not in any one dramatic bite, but in the steadiness of it all.

She expressed that it was her favorite dish and the favorite dish of many customers. The flavors were great, and interesting. The dish had the potential to be an 8/10 or 9/10, but it was so incredibly salty that it was nearly unbearable. The signature dish was a 6/10, maybe, as a result. If it was fine tuned, it could be a great dish. We also had the Fried Green Tomatoes. Very nice. Would order those again. They were delicious. This is a cool spot, and if they dial in their food, it could be epic. Our waitress was a delight also. Really nice service. 3 stars is justified because, in spite of the good things noted, the core element for any restaurant must be their food and if the Shrimp and Grits is their "signature" dish, they should give it the same attention they give other areas that are going well.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.
