The Martlet's hospice l is famous in Sussex as a worldclass end of life hospice. It's astonishing…read morethat they only get 29% of their funding from the NHS. My uncle passed away here and the care and love he received was stunningly good right until the end. The place is warm and peaceful and I am proud to support their charitable work as best I can.

Only happening 4 times a year the 3 hour sales are worth the early starts and rummaging! And what better than a wardrobe that is benefiting a great local charity. Tips: get there early Take cash Dont wear heavy jackets (its warm in there) Have a hands free bag - more space for rummaging.
known locally as Holy Joe's this ia major hospice of fabulous reputation.Behind the clean clean…read moreclean and respectfully hushed tones there is a strident business operating . The place relies on charity so has managers to raise funds. I love that business ethos because the place would die if not for the aggressive stance. My sister could not have died in a nicer, more efficient and loving place. I know it for its attic sales and coffee mornings. The attic sales are the best ever and smack of great post war jumble sales with old prams, granny's bags, furniture and boxes of lps etc etc. The African women get there early with trolleys and black bags to fill and when those dealers subside then the wrangling and money changing goes on for 3 hours solid without a let-up, Only the strong and the determined can stay and grab those bargains i e mammoth piles for 20p per item.Absolute fun and work. The coffee mornings are generous dollpos of cake and cream and friendliness. Parking is a major problem. Tons of buses go by the door. There was a gorgeous garden. It must still be there but the builders are in so I will check. The gardens are fabulous and free.
