The Round Tower is a landmark part of the old waterfront fortifications of Portsmouth. It is on the shore of Old Portsmouth, an interesting area with old buildings south of the Historic Dockyard area. It was guilt in the early 15th century and is, along with the rest of the remaining fortifications, open to the public all the time. It is free to explore and from the top provides some nice views along the waterfront and of the old town. One can walk from it along the rest of the fortifications along the water, to the Square Tower and beyond. read more
