I was able to get an appointment in a short length of time with Dr. Austell, waited maybe 10 minutes to be seen. The front desk and Dr. Austell's care team, were very accomodating and after Dr. Austell went over my records, I was set up for a procedure at Lake Mary Surgery Center. It was a pain free experience, which I was grateful for, after having alot of pain during a procedure with the last pain doctor I had. I would definitely refer Dr. Austell to my friends and family.

While most of his staff a good, one in particular told me incorrect and possibly dangerous information. That person was giving advice on something he had zero knowledge about. Do not go here for any reason. There are to many physicians that hold patient care and concern as a routine part of their practice in their practice of medicine greater Orlando area. I'm a 28 yr old former college athlete, consistently work out daily. I'd been seeing Burkhart since 2021 due to an injury sustained that he was never able to provide a treatment plan for and I never recovered even 50%. Recently, I injured myself and visited him on crutches 08/17/2022 he didn't want to order an MRI, said "I didn't need it and it was just arthritis", even though my knee had dislocated and the urgent care doctor who gave me crutches so I could walk recommended an MRI. We went back and forth for about 5 minutes and he eventually ordered the MRI, thank God. MRI took place on 08/19/2022 ***I reviewed the medical notes he wrote and they were ALL incorrect and lies!*** I had my girlfriend attend the last visit with me on 08/23/2022 so we could request a wheelchair, witness his behavior, and he didn't disappoint. For the 1:50pm appointment he didn't see me until 2:40pm, I had to ask somebody in the clinic to fetch him. The MRI he said I didn't need showed damage to the meniscus, it's fringed. I've since been told by another doctor that it's torn. HE ACTUALLY REFUSED TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS OR HERS ABOUT MY CARE AND INJURIES. I can't make this up, I asked him a specific question and his response was "Me answering that question will not give you the answer that you need." as if he's the Oracle from the Matrix. Ultimately, 8 minutes into the appointment he got up and walked out of the room and said "I'm not doing this." after I repeatedly asked him how a fringed meniscus could inhibit my recovery. When communicating my complaints to the branch manager he walked in to INTERRUPT, didn't say excuse me or anything and gave some spiel about how he's an expert doctor even though I'm on crutches with no ETA on when I'll even be able to walk again. He gave me a wheelchair prescription and then cancelled it a week later. Additionally the medical supply company who handles the wheelchair order stated that the notes he provided weren't adequate enough to get a wheelchair through insurance. HE WROTE IN THE NOTES THAT DURING THE EXAMINATION THERE WERE NO CHANGES EVEN THOUGH PRIOR TO 08/09 I COULD WALK AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET DRESSED WITHOUT SITTING DOWN. HIS INSOLENCE AND INCOMPETENCE HAS HINDERED AND PROLONGED MY ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY RECOVER. There's so much more but this is just the tip of the iceberg.

In retrospect I should have done my research & gone to Jewett originally. This office is clean, close to home, close to work & their staff is wonderful, compassionate & understanding. I felt like the 2 months I spent at the previous clinic was subpar with their evaluation- the handling of my records & their attention that they paid to their clients. Plus I am not into getting copious amounts of drugs for pain management- I want to be back to my normal active self, which means putting in hard work at physical therapy. Jewett wants specifically to get you better - not prepare you for a lengthy law suit. That's what I needed - I wanted to physically get myself better from a horrible near death car accident - their first goal is to get you better & work through the pain, not mask it or placate it with drugs. Everything from Karen at physical therapy's reception desk to Liz - my physical therapist - I appreciate how professional & courteous they were. Totally recommend this center in Lake Mary.

The only…read morereason I took away a star is that I was kept waiting VERY long after I got shown into one of the patient rooms. I mean, 20 or 25 minutes of thinking I'll be seeing the doc any minute now was a nudge disappointing. I had all the MRI films in front of me, and I almost got the impression that the nurse wanted me to read those over and draw my own conclusion! I ended up doing the uncouth thing of stepping the office to ask if they had forgotten I was there. In cases like that, it would be a good idea for the nurse to pop her head back in to say, sorry for the wait, the doc is running behind, and should be with you in 'x' minutes. We're not unreasonable people: we understand. When I worked for the airlines, I had what I consider my major contribution: my research found that, even more important than being on time was "Keeping pax informed, especially during delays and cancellations" - an attribute that was not measured at that time, but was quickly added to the lexicon of airline research. You see, things like weather and maintenance issues most pax would understand to be OUTSIDE of the control of the airline; but not even "bothering" to take 15 seconds to provide the most up-to-date information in any situation? That's on you, Airline, as it suggests that you really don't care enough about me, the pax, to give them what they need.

I just want to feel like I have the full attention of the person who is taking care of me while I'm there. I want to know I'm being heard and taken care of. Everyone here always seems to be in great mood and took great concern in making sure I was comfortable with the exercises I would preform. With these guys, it never seemed like it was just a job to them, THEY ACTUALLY CARE about you and what they do. And I love that. They have a imagining center onsite which prevents further commute to other locations for MRIs. My only and very small issue with this location is some of my administrative things sadly fell between the cracks here, which in part prolonged my case. I won't put sole blame on them as other parts in the matter did drop the ball as well in the regard. Overall I would recommend anyone to work with complete care for their rehab needs.
