The bakery is part of the country store, which sells such random housewares and souvenir-type stuff. They have a chocolate truffle case on one side and the other side, the pastries and desserts. The pastries looked delicious and I got a few to try. They also have bags of day-old cookies for a good price. Eclair 4/5* I'm not a huge fan of eclairs with the soft fudge on top instead of the hardened chocolate. Taste wise though, it was a good eclair. The cream isn't overly sweet and the eclair itself was a light dough. Napoleon 5/5* If there's something Harris bakery does right, it's flaky pastries. Surprisingly, this Napoleon stayed crispy the entire drive home and survive even in the refrigerator the next day. Many others I've had usually get soggy, but these layers of puff pastry stayed crisp to the end of every last bite. The cream was fluffy and not too sweet, and paired perfectly with the ripe strawberries. Banana Cream Pie 3/5* I love anything banana and just had to get it when my eyes landed on the perfect swirl of whip cream covered in chunks of buttery crumbles, atop a neat little mini pie. However, the pie itself was too mushy. The crust was soggy, with the smoothness of the banana cream, soft banana slices, and rich whip cream, everything combined was too much mush. It was also too sweet. I did enjoy the crumble on top though. That was the only saving texture. Strawberry Cream Horn 5/5* Wow these were so unexpectedly delicious! The horn is super flaky and delicate, filled from end to end with a light strawberry cream. On top, bits of dehydrated strawberries were not only beautiful but added a nice tartness and texture, contrasting with the silky cream. This was a great upgrade on your classic cream horn. Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts 3/5* Nothing special. They tasted better the longer they sat out because they were crisper. I prefer my cookies to have sea salt for that good balance of salty and sweet, but these cookies were just one noted. Next time, I have my eyes set on this towering cake they had on the counter and of course, take home some of those yummy cream horns.

It feels like our home away from home as we go back and forth from Northern California and to visit our family in Orange County. We always LOVED seeing the store and its unique gifts that filled the entire place. For some time, there looks to be maybe a quarter of what they used to have. So sad... I used to come and find a lot of my Christmas gifts for people during the holidays. This past Christmas, I went in and the place looked desolate. I was confused and wondered if I missed it all? I don't know if Harris Ranch is not doing well, but it really looks like they're struggling if you look at the empty feel of the store. We just left the shop now on our way back down to Southern California and once again shocked and highly disappointment. It was bad.. I really hope that whatever happening there gets better so that the store can return to the gorgeous shop that it once was.

I'm in search of vintage jewelry and handbags There were a few but nothing that caught my eye. My favorite section was a room with mirrors and frames decorated with jewelry, homemade soaps, crafted girly things. If you're a Disney pin collector this section is for you. There were jars full of jewelry for $30 $40 150. Looked like more on the now side (90's on up) and not vintage. The gentleman working the front counter was very friendly the lady was not very welcoming.

Photo opportunities galore, there are a couple of restaurants in a strip, and next to it is this string of shops where you can get some freshly popped popcorn, hummus, cheese and crackers, unique/quality toys like a carved wooden slingshot or a Melissa and Doug sticker book. They have real ice cream milkshakes and fresh or pre-made sandwiches. Towards the exterior they have a wooden playground of houses for kids to climb and explore (and run off some energy) while the adults enjoy their lunch at the nearby shaded picnic tables, with a pleasant view of the surrounding lands. Inside they've got old style rifle target shooting games, and even a flattened penny machine. Nostalgia galore and nice clean restrooms make this a must-stop if you need to get out of the car for a few minutes as you're passing through. Truly a hidden gem.

I think there was also a restaurant here too. The gift shop area has a lot of kitschy things and souvenirs. It felt very Americana. Friday was a beautiful day to be at the seaside and to walk along that sidewalks of Cambria and admire the quaint and captivating stores. Now that Highway One is open again, Cambria is seeing a lot more traffic up and down the coast, which translates into a lot more traffic in town. Home Arts was no exception. We were greeted right away by the friendly owner, which always makes for pleasant browsing. The store had a delightful display of new merchandise with a light buoyant feeling. A lot of the merchandise is a beautiful turquoise or blue which would look perfect in a seaside cottage or just remind you of a seaside cottage when you take it back to the city with you. I loved the classical wood mirror surrounded by ceramic "wallflowers". The beautiful stained glass boxes and glass jellyfish dangling from the ceiling also drew my attention. I never fail to find a unique and impressive gift whenever I go there. My husband and I also collect Arts and Crafts tiles, and I was happy to see a whole flock of dragonfly tiles on disply. The store is showing more local artists lately so there's a lot of local talent on display as well as beautifully made furniture and paintings. One of the best features about this store is that the prices are very reasonable for such fine artisan craftsmanship.
