Rude money grubber…read more I was planning to transfer from California after I moved here, and have already been in treatment for a year and 3 months. His office is over the top in kids decor (weird if you happen to not be a kid), his office staff is disorganized-throw away forms you've already filled out, and he's got about 6 signs on the wall that make reference to charging you for every little thing (not insignificant charges either). I had an irritating disagreement the very first time I walked in over them wanting to charge me $300 for records. I said no, then he didn't even want to see over a years worth of records from a previous doctor, and told me he was the only one in town who exclusively does the Damon bracket (alluding that I wouldn't find anyone else). When I went BACK for a consultation, he realized then that I have clear brackets in the front (who doesn't notice that?), and that he doesn't have replacement parts and would not order them if he broke them. THEN, told me he'd have me in braces for an additional 9 months when my previous release date was 3 months away, let alone what the additional cost would be. He was pretty rude about everything, and made no attempt to secure my business. There are other orthodontist's offices (ABC orthodontics) that will work with you, would actually like to see your other doctor's records, and will not nickel and dime you to death (on a larger scale). I. would. not.

It was on the higher end, cost-wise, compared to others in town but well worth it and it went well. I also got two very small cavities filled here. One cavity I had awhile and instead of getting worse, it stayed the same for multiple years until I finally decided to get it drilled and filled at Rubio Dental. Like the cleaning, the cost was a little higher than other local places. I also had another filling done to close a gap between an implant and a tooth that chipped, where food kept getting stuck. Unfortunately, I must say, however basic both of the fillings were, I had to have one of the two fillings redone at another dentists. The redo was in Asia. With this said, I'm not sure I'd recommend this clinic. It's hard finding a trustworthy clinic in Mexico. Maybe if I would have asked them to fix their work but I never bothered. It should be fine for simple stuff, I just don't have as much confidence in their work as I'd like. I must say, however, they didn't over-recommend treatment to line their pockets, like many American dentists have in my experience. I think your experience will vary. Very nice clinic, nice staff and atmosphere, I'm just disappointed they didn't do well enough on one filling and it had to be redone.

I also had alot of crowns that were the older style with Amalgam and due to my gums receding the dark metal was exposed at the gum line. All my crowns were replaced with beautiful porcelain crowns and matched my existing dentation perfectly. Fast forward 10 years later and I was ready to improve the overall color shading of my crowns and came back to Dr Gustavo to replace everything. We were able to do this in 2.5 days with 3 appointments. I really looked 10 years younger and couldn't be happier with the result. Dr Gustavo was gentle, caring and very sensitive to me being in the dental chair for hours. The cost was so economical compared to what I would have had to pay in the US. Fortuna's staff is courteous and their offices are modern, clean with state.of the art equipment. Driving to Los Algodones is a quick 3 hour drive from Phoenix, safe parking at the border, short walk to dental office and everyone in town greets you with a smile and an offer to help! Other dental office quoted me over $4000. Said they would put bone graft and two implants. I was only in need of one implant as the implant I had for years had fallen out crown post and all (Was done in USA). Fortuna Dental adviced me not to do anything for 6 months to let my jaw heal and bone to grow. If in 6 months the bone did not grow back then he would recommend getting bone graft. When the 6 month healing period ended Dr Gustavo said my jaw bone grew back and I would not need bone graft. So he put the implant in told me to come back in 4 to 6 months to let it heal then crown. He matched the crown to my teeth perfectly. I can't even tell what tooth is the crown. Price for one implant and zirconium crown $1250. I'm so happy I decided to go with fortuna dental as I felt they were honest and good price. Sandy the front desk technician is so friendly and very knowledgeable. She offered letters for our insurance, taxes, and border crossing. Walked us thru or procedures and no hidden charges. My husband got work done on top and bottom. Our dentist in USA quoted him $17000. Just for upper teeth. Fortuna dental charged us $5500. For his upper teeth and $3650 for lower. My husband upper teeth were done in two days. Same for his lower. Thank you so much Dr Gustavo and your team. Oh and let's not forget the parking attendant. He is so friendly and watches your car guides you to park right in front of office. We highly recommend Fortuna dental. Fortuna dental takes very good care of patient. Oh almost forgot my husband gets traumatized at dentist office. They gave him a pill so he would relax and it helped him get through his procedure. Also the office is walking distance from the Yuma border.
