LONG STORY SHORT: Paid a lot of $ to be embarrassed and lose friends. I went to this campsite for years and had a great time. Two visits ago, my ex used his card on my account to cover the expenses, and on my last visit when making the reservation, they asked to use the card on file, I said "yes" not knowing his card (in a different person's name), was on my account. Halfway through my trip the owner pulled me aside and informed me my ex contacted them about his card being charged--had no idea until this moment there was any issue. I immediately gave them my card, paid in full, and enjoyed the rest of the vacay. JUST TO BE CLEAR: I did not have or use another person's CC info, THEY STORED his number under my account and ran the transaction. I don't own an amex, if they verified anything, i would have stopped them right there. They asked if they could use the credit card on file, I said "sure that should be fine", that's it! It's an expensive resort and I paid $700 to CAMP there. I even tipped 20%. I thought it was over and if there was an issue, they would say so. But.... I just found out i'm banned for life when planning a quick getaway. It was already embarrassing enough to have the friends I was with hear this but it didn't end there! The owner went to my friend's camper and read him over my association with him and proceeded to tell him that I was a bad guy and he didn't want people associated with me in his camp! He has severed ties with me based on the things he heard from the owner! This is a business that just took $700, banned me for life because they kept my exes card on file (he has a different name and an Amex which I don't even have), and then went to my friend and told him I was a thief and a bad guy they didn't want around. If you don't want my business, I will take it elsewhere. That's enough punishment. Why would anyone go to my friend who I was going to go on vacation with ball-face lies about me? It was one of the most backward incidents I've ever experienced and I write this to warn others--i'm not the only one. read more

I absolutely love this place. Pool, hot tub, bars, air conditioned cabins. The staff here is phenomenal. I went there alone for my birthday to get out of the city and made so many great new friends while I was there. This is my favorite LGBTQI* camp grounds I've come across. The picture is with 3 drag queens I met that graced me with a birthday photo op :-) Also, they have free WiFi throughout the grounds and a really great bar and dance space at night. read more

I am and have been a member of the Three Rivers Leather Club, a gay leather organization out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for many years and we generally hold our annual run at Roseland Resort and Campground, which needless to say is a gay campground. Roseland comprises 222 acres of private land, most of it forest, but for amenities they have a pool, a couple of hot tubs, some hammocks, a little store and a meet up place for dancing and partying at night that they affectionately refer to as Town Hall. Getting here is really something else. I drove up from Florida in a 22 foot motorhome pulling a 12 foot dungeon trailer (I like my own play space) with a sneak boat mounted on top. All is easy until you start getting to Roseland because, though the map shows two lanes, the roads are in fact one lane. And because of the hills, it's nice to have your CB radio on because you can hear someone shout that they are about to top the same hill you are on, so you know it best swing way over to your right because there isn't any room for two of you on the road. Honestly, I don't think a really large motorhome would make it, not just because of the narrowness of the roads or more importantly the bridge weight restrictions, but because the hills are so steep a lot of engines will overheat. As I slept and cooked in my motorhome I can't tell you about the cabins. However, I can say everything looked super clean and in great shape. One of the best things about staying at Roseland are the views. Here, you are literally on top of the world. When you get up in the morning and look down at the fog in the valleys you'd swear you were seeing beautiful lakes. West Virginia really does have the most beautiful mountain country. Sorry you Rocky Mountain State lovers, but you just don't have the lush forests, native Appalachian trout filled streams and none of you know how to make a good squirrel gravy or are even capable of pickling a fiddle stick. The other best thing is the friendliness of your fellow campers. Campers, be they gay or straight, have always been a friendly lot, but the ones here at Roseland tend to be particularly so. read more

This was our 6th visit over the last five years... 8/18 - 8/20 They only thing we regret, is not making more time, during our busy summer, to come back more than once this year &/or stay longer this trip. Highly recommend Roseland resort and Campground!! This visit... we stayed in Sleeper Cabin #6 - The amenities this cabin offered, again as always, exceeded our expectations - like most things do at Roseland! The veiw from our cabin was stunning! It had A/C!!also 2 chairs & a table to use inside or outside on our private deck. A queen bed & plenty of Electric outlets & shelves. It was perfect! The employees & owners of this resort & campground - truly make your stay so much more enjoyable! From... DJ Chris, Massage therapist Steve, Scott, Matt, Troy, Ryan, Ron, Ben and so many others - thank you!! You gentlemen know what it means to go the extra mile to make a personal connection with your guests, making us want to return again! From the friendly Conversations, hysterical stories and jokes & complementary cold treats by the pool. You all are amazing & feel lucky to have built friendships with you all over the years. There has been so many wonderful improvement, upgrades, additions & enhancements to the stunning property over the last 5 years we have been visiting. Every time the landscape and amenities are even better! You can see that the owners take pride & enjoy every aspect of their property. Awesome work gentlemen, down to the little details - it is perfect @ Roseland! The crazy drive up the mountain makes Roseland Resort & Campground that much more special. DO NOT GO HERE! I went to make a reservation for the weekend after my mother's funeral. It was incorrectly priced out for me upon making the reservation, and when I called to get the total owed, I asked to speak to the manager about the discrepancy because it was over $100 more than the price given. Matt got on the phone and wouldn't even let me get a word in edgewise and shut me down repeatedly on the phone and told me he was cancelling my reservation and never to come there. Extremely rude and unprofessional and heartless given my circumstances. I will never recommend this place to another person. I've never been treated so poorly in a customer service setting in my life. Roseland Resort RUINED a trip that was planned so that I could get out of town to grieve my mother's death. Absolutely shameful. read more

Nice place with beautiful views from the top of the mountain. Some downfalls: There are far from enough bathrooms for campers/tents/cabins. Had to walk up the mountainside about 1/2 mile just to get to a bathroom and shower. Website says roads are bad and to use google; google sent me down a washed out gravel road that ended up having a closed sign at the other end of it. (Glad I have an suv). Knowing this, they should have directions on the website with the best routes. Restaurant food was decent, but far from being worth the $16 they charge for dinner. Staff was very friendly. Some things were closed due to COVID, but there was no notification of this until we got there and found out for ourselves. read more

Roseland is a Gay Campground and I must say by far the best I've been too. There are 3 owners Troy, Matt, and Ben who are all very helpful and take a huge role in making your day to day experience amazing. They have superior staff as well who will make you a strong drink or make you a pizza. On weekends they have a dinning hall where the chef makes up a delicious breakfast lunch and Dinner. This place has 2 bars 2 hot tubs a sauna and a place to purchase anything from lube to swimwear. Plenty of places to explore including the nature trails, water falls, and maybe the barn if your up for an adventure . If you are a gay man 21+ this is a must see destination, and see how that week or weekend becomes extraordinary! read more

i realize reviews are a personal preference - take that into account ... i went on a weekday to get some relaxing in .... well if you want quiet this is NOT the place - disco music played from 11am till midnite - non stop - the almost 40 year old stereotypical gay worn out dance anthems over and over - same beat 12+ hours a day .... id walk by the pool and nobody there but the music just blastin away ... can be heard quite a distance as well [at my camp site no less] ... by the time i was ready to leave i wanted to stick hot knives in my skull ... if thats your thing id suggest to sign up - if not, theres no escaping it read more

Not all good, not all bad - like most things. Getting there the first time is frustrating because the staff give poor directions and there is no map on their web site and google maps is inaccurate - this place is really out there in remote, rural, Appalachia. Once there, staff are very helpful and friendly. I tent camped and wish I had been further out from the central area. There is an unfortunate oil/gas facility on a hill across from the property that is painted white so it sticks out like a sore thumb. It also has bright lights and mechanical noises day and night - they have worked with the company to mitigate these things as much as they can. The amenities are good - plenty of cooked food available in the bar or the kitchen - breakfast buffet was very good - and Kitty, the server, was great. There's a pool but the liner had been damaged and wrinkled some how so it wasn't perfect but still very good. They even have poolside dining and drink service. Dancing at night in the dance hall. So, yes, it's kind of not like camping - I had my tent but I really didn't need anything else I brought. The crowd is all gay men - and pretty diverse group at that - and very laid back and friendly. The massage therapist is excellent - he's from WV - one of the best I've ever had. I was perturbed about the campsite garbage drop off not being picked up because raccoons woke me up at night while in it and someone left the pool music on - not relaxing. But there were good moments like waking from a nap with a deer grazing in front of my tent, watching the moon traverse the sky through my tent ceiling screen, and meeting some nice guys - and one really great guy who I have continued to date since then. I would like to try the place again but have not been chomping at the bit to do so. read more
