Stayed with a group of 7 of us after a long day in Tenby and on Caldey island. Barry the inn keeper…read morewas delightful, the rooms are clean and well appointed and the views across the town are fantastic. This place is really great value anyway but then you add in a delicious cooked breakfast for free and it really takes some beating. If you are in the area I would HIGHLY recommend it.
Beautiful, peaceful, historic grounds and buildings. There's a sweet little duck pond in the back,…read moreand sometimes sheep come up to the back fence. We stayed in the Upper Old Farm House, which is one of their self-catering apartments. We were very comfortable as it has a full kitchen (stocked with dishes, pots & pans, and all needed utensils, but no food/drink except salt & pepper), a full bathroom, and a washer-dryer set (you must bring your own laundry soup). It has two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, and the other with two twins), plus the couch in the living room is a pull-out. They will provide a pack-and-play upon request. The owner was very friendly and paid us a visit to make sure we were comfortable, and to recommend things to do around town. There are also many brochures in the front entryway of the main house. It's just a short drive around the corner to Freshwater East Beach, which I recommend. Lamphey is super cute to drive around, but we didn't get the chance to stop and visit (next time!). I also recommend going to Pembroke Castle, Colby Woodland Gardens, Caldey Island, and Folly Farm (for the kids). Out-of-towners should be aware that this area is a bit off the beaten path, which is both good and bad. The roads in this area are beyond beautiful...but some are extremely narrow and it's very scary when on-coming traffic comes flying around a corner. In some areas it's too narrow for two cars to fit, so one car will need to reverse until they find a place to pull off and let the other car squeeze by. Always be aware of your surroundings and follow the speed limit. A local told us that sometimes she'll honk if she's approaching a blind narrow corner. Also, restaurants close early and there are no 24-hour pharmacies or any 24-hour ER/medical service. We learned the hard way when our son came down with a high fever overnight and we had to just wait it out until Tesco opened at 6am so we could buy medicine. So make sure you stock up on needed supplies and visit the doctor during normal business hours, there won't be any options in the middle of the night....except to drive to another town.

I am currently lying in my pocket sprung bed, enjoying the biscuits and tea made available to me,…read moreand I have had a lovely bath in the corner of my massive room :-) Full of quirky and interesting niknaks, furniture and period fixtures, this a full on romantic bed and breakfast. Had I been in the company of a desireable man, I may have stayed for the whole weekend, but this is sadly a short stopover in a busy week. It is heaven though. My host is Judith who owns this Georgian pile, and who is exuberant, effervecent and passionate about the place. Breakfast is served in the basement kitchen and cooked on the Aga, the rooms are few but utterly individual, and in the summer the patio with a view would be a relaxing place of an evening. Not so inviting in December. Not expensive, great location and a fascinating home. I will be back if possible!
