As a venue itself, The Rose is about as good as it gets for its scale and comparing it to other suburban cities' theatres. I've been to a handful of others in the GTA, and driven by some more; in spite of potential bias, I feel the Rose is nicest. Beautifully designed, no poor seats, terrific acoustics, a separate smaller theatre for smaller performances, a massive lobby which itself is well-suited for events. There's also free parking and coat check. It's perfectly situated in the heart of downtown Brampton with several restaurant options all within the same block. The Rose (I believe) also owns the fountain in front which is often converted into a mini-stage for local performances in the summer and compliments what's happening in Garden Square. I should award it 5 stars by these virtues alone, but the often lacklustre performance lineup can't really be disassociated with the venue - especially since it effectively organized by the theatre. It's not to say there are never worthwhile shows, but a bit too few and far between. I'm actually a bit surprised there aren't more since it is a such a perfect venue - perhaps its due to the fact that Casinos can offer more money to performers. In any case, a wonderful spot and hoping that it can draw even more shows and that the local population gets behind it. read more

The Rose is quickly becoming a favored destination for me - not just because it offers so many varied events, but the atmosphere and design of the building is fantastic. This may be the most "un-arts centre" arts centre I've ever visited. Despite being set right smack dab in the centre of Brampton's downtown core, it's very easy to walk by this place and not notice it - if you're walking in, you have to pass through the square itself to get to it, or go into the underground parking garage (accessible off Theatre Lane Drive), which thankfully has complimentary parking during a number of galas and events. I've been finding myself visiting here more frequently. Over the last year, I've attended two galas, the Lieutenant-Governor's Awards and a business networking event, and each time, I've found the experience to be classy and consistent. My most recent journey here was for the William Osler Health Foundation's annual gala, which is now in its sixth year. I had the opportunity to try several of the food items during said gala and was very satisfied with the end result, though I found myself enjoying last year's spread (which included beef sliders, sushi and more served on trays) more. This go-around, I had a small dish of white-cheddar macaroni, a couple of small striploin sandwiches, a couple of one-bite items (artichoke hearts with something else in them), and (from the VIP section) smoked salmon with mushy peas) and oysters. Not to mention Beavertails and a selection of intermission snacks including candied apples and in-house(?) popcorn. This had to be one of the weirder setups for a gala I've seen. Despite having the VIP section on the second level of the theatre, the best food items were at ground level, and I routinely saw people descending back downstairs minutes after going up just so they could feast on the rest of the selection. Not only that, but in order to get a complimentary mixed drink (Caesar), you had to go to the very back of the silent auction, which means going through two rooms and navigating through a packed crowd to line up. The setup and food selection can be very hit-or-miss, so keep your expectations in check. The service is quick and efficient. Not only is there a complimentary coat check, but the staff do a reasonably good job of clearing plates and trash during larger events like galas. You can also get wine in take-out cups to bring into the theatre, but I'm not sure if this is consistent with all events. As far as the noise level goes, it really depends on where you sit and who's performing. The first time I came here in 2016 (for a performance by Colin James and Barenaked Ladies), the wall of sound was so loud that I felt my eardrums were going to burst, and I was sitting in the upper balcony. This time, the noise level was much more tolerable and I had no problems whatsoever, while sitting in roughly the same spot. I will say that I've also had the unique perspective of being able to crash in the theatre's green room. Earlier this year, when I attended the Lieutenant-Governor's Awards (which were held by Walrus Magazine), I was given the opportunity to hang out in the back and meet the nominees. They have a stand featuring upcoming events that has actually been signed by several of the performers, including Howie Mandel and Great Big Sea. An interesting curiosity to view if you have the chance to visit in person. Barring a few small caveats, I find myself greatly appreciating the work that's been done in the theatre, which has offered a consistent and enjoyable experience that is on par with the best venues in the region. I will likely be back at the Rose again - and it can't come soon enough. Recommended. read more

Echoing the sentiments of my Toronto Yelp friend Bobby N, the Rose Theatre in Brampton is a total surprise and an amazing one at that! Entering last night I had a line on some tickets for the premiere of their new show The Full Monty! It was right on the money with the UK movie and it kept all of those in attendance in stitches for the duration. As for The Rose Theatre, it's intimidating and HUGE from the outside but once inside the 400+ seating theatre was plush, new and comfortable. There is literally not a single bad seat in the house. If you're from Toronto, think Massy Hall but nicer.. and without the beams occasionally blocking your view. Bobby was right on the money with their large lobby bar, which is where most patrons posted out during intermission. What I really enjoyed was that they offered a cocktail themed especially for the show - last night it was "The Full Mon-tini". All in all I'm a huge fan of this venue, it's a wonderful bit of culture in the heart of downtown Brampton, just off of Theatre Ln/Queen Street East. read more

We went to see a community theatre production of Hairspray. The theatre was very easy to get to from Mississauga and there was lots of parking underground.....bonus that parking was free(because it was Saturday or because of their Christmas market/parade, I'm not sure??). The box office had 2 windows available for ticket pickup so the wait was only about 5 minutes with customers ahead of us. The theatre is not too big but not exactly small either. The seats were cushioned and comfortable with plenty of leg room and dark wood railings (the ushers were very cautious with patrons damaging the wood).The orchestra and dress circle has excellent views of the stage. There is a balcony but I'm not sure of the view from there. The lighting is adequate and there is a snack bar in the lobby selling snacks, drinks and alcohol. Washrooms at either side of orchestra entrances are large, clean and has warm water for hand washing...and a choice of paper towels or hand dryers. The Christmas market was just outside the theatre. Great venue overall. read more

I recently had the opportunity to see a couple of shows here. One being a comedy night which was great. They had 5 comics that were all good in an intimate setting. I would say there were only about 20 of us. For the price of the tickets and beverages I would say it is much better then Yuk Yuks. The second show was a tribute to the Beatles. They made me a fan. Again the drinks are pretty cheap, however; with this larger venue you can't bring your drinks back to you seat and you only have 20 minutes to enjoy your drink. If you are not a drinker you need to try a coke. It is only $1 and it is in a glass old school bottle. If you haven't had a coke from a glass bottle, believe me it is a whole new experience. read more

Surprisingly nice theatre in Brampton! Went here last night to watch the 'Full Monty' show, and having never watched the film I was not really sure what to expect. Great show and in stitches, but not here to talk about the show so back to the theatre. Located just off Queen Street East with easy access from the 410, parking will not be a problem with underground space available and cheaper than parking anywhere in Toronto. The theatre it was self is not so massive the you risk being overwhelmed by the sound and distances from the stage but it is not so small that you feel like your on the stage. We luckily had some fantastic seats but there was some sound issues we noticed. That could have been the fault of the theatre or the sound engineer for the show. There is spacious bar located in the main foyer with the staff there being exceptionally organised and friendly. Would highly recommend people to go catch a show at this theatre. read more

The Rose is the jewel of downtown Brampton! I came here for the Full Monty. Took 45min from downtown TO. We left around 6pm and the traffic wasnt too bad! Parking was free right underneath the theatre (these are the little things that I love about surburbia). The theatre itself was outstanding. Circular seating with multiple tears. Comfortable seats. The lobby was classy, with a large bar and full drink options. Coat check was free. Service was very friendly. I could go on and on describing all the benefits of this place. I suggest you go yourself and see. The Full Monty was hilarious. A great laugh. Totally worth the drive out of the city. On the way back, with no traffic only 25 min :). read more

This theatre is a hidden gem in Brampton Ontario. Beautiful well kept theatre with no bad seats really. It's a smaller theatre which means you can get up close and personal. The tips listed on Yelp are helpful to know with the free parking & free coatcheck. The refreshments are regular prices for a theatre. Annoyingly enough you can bring cold beverages into the theatre but not hot ones. We bought coffee during the intermission but we were stopped from bringing it into the theatre.... Why sell it then? It was odd. We had to basically throw them out because who can guzzle hot coffee? Theatre is very nice though and I would recommend. read more

This is an excellent venue for any show. We saw a Led Zeppelin show here as well as George Carlin. Pretty much every seat in the house is great in this quaint yet contemporary theatre. A renowned cellist I know who has played some of the world's greatest places has praised the Rose Theatre for what he says is "perfect acoustics." I had forgotten to review this experience, as with most horrid occurrences I try to forget them... but we were approached once more to visit this theater and I had to decline with a recount of the event. We had gone to see Evita as my bf knew someone who was in it and wanted to show support for a long time friend. We had bought box seat tickets and we're seated to the left side boxes, we bought drinks and settled in as we were the only couple up there... we were then approach by an older male who asked for our tickets again and had decided to grab my shoulder, I shrugged his uninvited physical contact off and watched as he confirmed that we were in the right seats and listened as he tried to blame another 'lady' for making him check. For such a small theater to hold such levels of prejudice towards a younger couple is upsetting. We asked for the best tickets for the show, we were sold the best they could offer...why make unwarranted physical contact with patrons and recheck their tickets to satiate your own bias because they were not seated with the crowd... and didn't fit your personal theater ideal for the seats they were in. A very unnerving experience and one I shall never return to endure. It's a nice enough theater, it was an ok show... but the treatment by that gentleman was horrendous and I will save myself and my bf the harassment and never return. Bravo on alienating and serving to deter future patronage. read more

Be careful when you purchase tickets at the Rose Theatre in Brampton! Some seats have an obstructed view and they do not inform you of this upfront! As a result one of the four tickets purchased for several programs had this obstructed view which ruined the experience for one guest. While we were able to change seats for programs not sold out we could not for those programs which were sold out. We booked these tickets early in the order process and should've been informed. This is not an honest practice! read more

The theatre itself is beautiful. They occasionally have first class entertainment. I once saw a Broadway calibre production of Les Miserables there. Unfortunately, the current leadership is sorely lacking. By Victoria Day weekend, they still had no listings anywhere for the summer program. Outside in the square they had listings for events that had taken place in January. The employees inside told me dozens of people had lodged similar complaints. One ticket attendant said, "This is Brampton whose trail of corruption has made us a laughingstock. Knowing this city, somebody brother-in-law is probably in charge of the scheduling." My wife and I have been to the "Rose" three times now! And we have thoroughly enjoyed it. The theatre is a perfect size which allows the management the luxury to be able to book quality acts and productions! The variety & unique shows available is refreshing! Not having to drive to downtown Toronto is so wonderful and at the end of the production the ease of exiting the underground parking was outstanding. I couldn't believe how quickly we found ourselves outside & on our way home! The seating is spacious and comfortable! The designer staggered the seats so the patron in front does not block your view! Wow...unheard of these days! Acoustics more than acceptable! The theatre lends itself to be able to accommodate to varied types of entertainment! Even though it is a bit of a distance from Richmond Hill it is "Worth the Drive to Brampton"! We will be back many more times. Love the whole experience! This was one time local Government got it right! Build it & they shall come! Thanks to all the " Volunteer" staff who really add personality to the show! You make it feel right! The unsung heroes!
