Trash! Everyone thinks this place is good because they're all drunk when getting here. Service is horrible and your chances of being lit on fire from the constant flares being lit and people waving them around is about 95%. I had a reservation at 10:15 and the bouncers continued to ignore me and let everyone in when I told him multiple times that I had a reservation. Now it's 11:28 and I still haven't received my food. Show up drunk so all the normal things that would piss you off don't or just don't come at all you'll regret it for sure. read more

This has been SUCH a great experience! The King Ora Salmon and Octopus was a recommendation from our amazing servers Victor, Homero and Samuel! What can I say. Amazing service, waitstaff are genuinely very nice and helpful. But it appears that looking high end and having a good aesthetic takes priority over food. This Restaurant will give you an impression that it is THE place to dine and party. However, the staff will steal your personal belongings. They stole my E-cigarette as well as a pair of Jimmy Choo sunglasses. When I asked for the manager he came to the table with an attitude defending his staff! I will NEVER dine there again and highly recommend all tourists to be on alert especially keep all your belongings on your body. They provided me and my girlfriend with outstanding service and were very knowledgeable about every item on the menu and ultimately helped us pick the perfect meal(to me). My friend and I came to tulum from playa Del carmen to go to the beach and stopped here for lunch. The decor is beautiful and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. The food was good, but it was really the experience. My friend mentioned it was her birthday when we got there and after we ate they surprised her with a birthday cake, and even tried to help us find a clean beach (because the local beaches were dirty and full of seaweed). Our waiter was super sweet and everyone was just really nice and pleasant. Will definitely come back when I'm in tulum. read more

This steak house is one of the best we have ever eaten at! Our waitstaff was super nice, and gave us a full rundown of the menu prior to ordering as well as gave really great recommendations. The popovers they start you with are pure crack! We ordered a few small apps that our waiter recommended, and got a steak to share. The steak was cooked to perfection. Also, the drinks are just as tasty as the food! I picked this place to celebrate my fiancé's birthday, and I'm so happy I did. The one issue the whole night was there was a mix up with our reservations but it was early in the evening (6pm) and the restaurant wasn't even full- the hostess almost wouldn't seat us or let us in even though we were in the system for a later time that same night... she had some rude words to say and also made a comment about my pants (white Jeans which were paired with a beautiful blouse)... meanwhile there was a party of 8 that just sat down prior to us in swimsuits fresh off the beach and they were treated much nicer! The only turn off was the hostess, she was so rude and at first I thought our whole dinner/birthday was going to be a flop because of her attitude from the moment we arrived...but thankful our waiters turned it around for us! We would go back based on the food alone, but hope we don't have to deal with that lady again. read more

OMG, this place is so AMAZING! From the moment we came in, there was a super fun environment, awesome music, their staff was SO attentive, nice, and FUN (we had Emilio, Gener, & Hector)! At some point everybody in the restaurant had sparklers and big smiles all around :-))) Even if you could have come there in a bad mood, there would NOT be a chance you would leave this place with a frown. This was one of the best experiences that I had in my life! The food and drinks were absolutely DELICIOUS!! Every single dish that we had, was cooked perfectly and had a unique flavor! It's my first time in Tulum, so I was ready to experience whatever came my way--because why wouldn't you, Tulum is beautiful and it's unlikely you'll be disappointed. The first night in Tulum, I walked down Punta Allen just taking the vibe in and pretty much allowing the energy of a place draw me in. Rosa Negra did just that, with it's beautiful ambience, energy, and vibe--smart Rosa Negra, you do this well. Where you fail is cramming guests next to a waiter station in a high traffic area, where waiters are bustling by your table 100 miles per minute-- the initial Rosa Negra vibe immediately dies within the first 5 minutes, so you wait to see what service has to offer and more importantly the quality of the meal. They have plenty staff, I can vouch, because every staff in this restaurant stomped (Jurassic Park style) its way through our table, so no worries you'll be served and catered. Next up, the food, DISAPPOINTING. I ordered the grilled octopus, it was so chewy and overcooked, it took a while before I can take the next bite. I lost all desire to experience something unusual with this place. It felt overpriced, overhyped, and overselling an experience to the tourists who are lured by the ambiance. I'm willing to pay if it's worth every bite of my meal or every care a restaurant takes to make the best experience for their guests. Rosa negra, lacked a few stars of what could possibly be a five star experience. Rethink your food--curate it! Rethink where you put your tables--it's not about how many tables you can fit in a space but how your guests feel while sitting in them. read more

Fined here last night for my friends 30th birthday. Didn't expect it to be such a loud atmosphere, but needless to say it was a nice party vibe. My friend and I ordered the surf and turf and my other friend ordered from the vegan menu which is great because she's vegan. We asked our server to be moved to another table because the party next to us was sniffing lines of coke and dancing around our table we were not moved. So I went to the hostess who seated us and she immediately moved us. We than received a new server. The drinks were great as well as the food, but the wait for your food is a bit long. I do think they are lacking in their customer service. If the customer service was better I think I would give them 5 stars. I'm not sure if I would visit again. The food was good but the experience leading to the dinner was not pleasant. These are one of those experiences I had where I said to myself "this food better be good for the aggravation they caused me". read more

Went there several time. Normally sat at the bar before to join dinner there or somewhere else almost every night. Great Drinks selection. They have my favorite vodka ( stoli elité) so this place got my attention no matter what. Service at the bar absolutely outstanding. Ramon was very attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Made great suggestions and explained menu and dishes in details everytime I ordered. Honestly I think it's the best restaurant In Tulum. During the evening they light some sparkle with a crescendo of the music and I found it super cool,fun and definitely interesting. I found all the stuff very nice and accommodating beside one of the server that he had some passive aggressive issues clearly noticeable from all of my group. He snapped on me cos I was standing up talking to the table next to mine. Sorry I didn't knkw we were in school lol . I found it inappropriate and kinda ridiculous so I mentioned to the Manager. Service at the table is a bit slower than the bar but the vibes are so high and amazing that really didn't mind that much. We had anyway time to relax. I contemplated many restaurants for the perfect bday dinner for my significant other and I chose Rosa Negra, and I'm so glad I did. The food was amazing, everything was so delicious - empanadas, steak and lobster were on point. A mixologist goes around making attractive drinks that are Smokey (cool affect but the drink wasn't so good) I would stick to a regular cocktail. There was a DJ on a Sunday playing some upbeat music as well. The service is what made the night so special, they explained everything and constantly checked on us to make sure we were ok. They gave 5 star service and remembered to bring a birthday desert without me mentioning it. Great place for a special occasion or fancy date night. read more

Great atmosphere but poor management! We had a reservation near the window and asked to move so that we didn't get rained on. Moved to a table that was not suitable for a party of our size (was too small and too close to other tables). Our dinner ended with an accidental spill of boiling hot caramel on our friend. As it was being delivered, I was seated cheering on sparklers and dessert for another in our party and collided with the waitress. It was absolutely an accident - however I would be surprised if it hasn't happened before as RosaNegra is a lively environment. The boiling caramel should not be delivered in a way that could be harmful (needs a lid or a tray, etc.) We were all shaken up and our friend who was burned had to leave. Ultimately the manager blamed it on me for moving my hand and causing the spill. He provided tequila shots as consolation but refused to comp anything from the meal for the accident. After much discussion he took off $50 which was not enough for the situation. It ruined our otherwise awesome start to a Saturday night. If you're looking for great customer service and a staff that is dedicated to your safety and satisfaction, don't go here! Very unprofessional and not concerned about customer safety! read more

We came here with a couple of friends to celebrate my wife's 35th birthday and from the reviews figured this would be a mix of a place with good food and a good vibe, unfortunately the service was lacking and the vibe was probably more something for 20 somethings than for us. It's on us that traffic was bad and we trudged the last 200 yards on the advice of our taxi driver so we showed up a bit hot and bothered already. From there it was mostly downhill since the waiter couldn't take a proper order for a gin martini and brought out some fruit sparkling water with lights in it and dry ice smoke coming out of it... uh what happened to the martini. On top of that after 3 attempts at some kind of wine or bubbles by the glass all they could offer is some prosecco by the bottle, fine I guess... after all these hiccups the pace of service seriously slowed down despite there being a flurry of staff around us, just none that cared about us. It took probably at least 30 minutes if not more to get food menus, which should be to us when we sit down to properly order drinks for a place that seems to pass itself off as some kind of high end establishment. We have been all other places around tulum and ordering food despite a lack of Spanish was never a problem. Here the problem was the loud music and lack of desire from the servers to actually serve well, just going through the motions mostly. I will say that some of the staff was actually helpful, mostly the bus staff. When our meal was winding down most of the lights turned off and the music kicked up and the staff started dancing along with some guests with sparklers and stuff but I'm just sitting there thinking where the F is my old fashioned and my friends martini. The food was good although my steak definitely wasnt the medium rare I ordered and was probably more medium well (slight pink) and our server was attempting to verify the accuracy of doneness with a flashlight assist but couldn't really be bothered to wait for me to cut into my steak to really verify before running off. Despite that, the steak and other food was good, but with service like this (which I get could've been a bit of a perfect storm) and a club like vibe this jsust isnt the kind of place that I feel their website and most reviews make it out to be. So be forewarned those of you with a like mind that you'd really rather have a good meal with good service at a justified price than a good meal with poor service at a price tag of about $175 per couple. Lesson learned for this one and sticking to the real Tulum instead of this kind of "attraction" way off the beaten path from where we stayed. read more

Rosa Negra has a really long and impressive menu and the staff was super attentive. That being said, maybe they need to do a little bit of editing. The majority of what we ordered was excellent (cocktails with dry ice floats??? fun!), but the two items that missed the mark, missed it by a lot. One (the octopus tostada) was bland, cold and weirdly slimy, even for cold octopus. We mentioned it didn't taste good and the staff seemed oddly offended and unwilling to remove it from the bill. Maybe that's not standard practice in Mexico, perhaps? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At this price, with so many great restaurants within walking distance, I don't think we'll be back. read more

The food was quite good. That said the place was way over the top. To begin the presentation was gaudy and pretentious. The amount of food was more Las Vegas strip then high end beach restaurant. With five spectacular restaurants in a two minute vicinity to this one I would say go else where unless you can't get in. This was the weirdest restaurant experience I've ever had. They play loud club music and it gets louder around 9:45 and then they hand out sparklers as a gimmick. The bread was ok, the sauces they gave you don't make any sense with the bread or the food. We had an appetizer which was ok, the taco meat inside looked and tasted like Taco Bell. It took an hour to get our food and dinner was not good for the price. They forgot my wine order for 30 mins. They were attentive and nice to us. Drinks were pretty good, but the bar area is fullllll of flies. It just feels like it's trying hard to do everything, but not well. They asked the tables next to us to write a review for them but not our table. Don't bother there are plenty of better places in Tulum. read more
