I have been going here for years, always gets a partial foil and trim. I recently went in for a partial foil and had a new girl at 50% off. While she was super pleasant, the foil was ridiculous. She only foiled several strands of hair per foil and the results were as if I didn't get a highlight at all. Even though I only paid 50% the regular price, it was still an expense and I left looking the same. There aren't a lot of extras such as touch-up kits or food and beverage spreads for the wedding party, but if you're looking to get everyone ready for the big day efficiently and at a more reasonable cost, this is a good option. The staff took great care of us and listened to each individual was looking for, and they made adjustments when requested. We finished on time and stayed on schedule, which was important to me. My hair color was great with Faye. She then assigned someone else to blow dry my hair which made me kind of unhappy. I booked with Faye and I was onetime so why the switch. Also, the girl doing the blow dry only used the dryer for about 2 minutes and I said I wanted my hair dry not damp. So she dried it for another 2 minutes. I walked out with damp hair and mad. I had my hair highlighted and cut today. The coloring went well, but then I was told somebody else would be cutting my hair. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a salon. The wash is usually so relaxing, but this was terrible. I don't think all the hair even got wet and at one point the water was so hot that I had to sit up to get away from being burned, thus getting my clothes wet. There was no relaxing massage to the scalp. By then I was afraid of the cut, so asked for just the ends to be trimmed. It was a very expensive color and cut, and my hair wasn't styled at all, and the back was still wet, when she said we were done. I will NOT be back to the salon. The stylist was lovely. We discussed the project. Asked her to recheck the color, I thought is too dark. She reassured me. We discussed partials. Was supposed to do the front and top. Did 2 supper thin highlights in the front, a lot of too dark base. Doesn't look well done; is out of place. The blow dry was left dump and frizzy. I can do better at home. The partial highlights are only a few, so very overpriced. They charge more than the advertised price. Overall not the result you would expect. I paid $240 after the "discount". I've been to all the Roots salon in Wisconsin, not all of my hair service has been up to par. The location in Brookfield by far has the best stylist. Jaime transformed my hair today and restored my faith in Roots salon. She is the best with color, my cut also looks amazing . She took my dark almost black hair with brassy highlights to a beautiful toffee, caramel and honey balayage. It looks gorgeous. Finally someone who understands how to give me what I've always wanted. If this is what you want to pay $45 for and it's for a very special occasion think twice. First of all they DON'T do French manicures nor gel nor anything professional. They don't get the dead skin off your feet, in fact they never once even TOUCHED the ball of my feet!! Why is this place even painting nails when this is the end result? I swear I'll NEVER make a mistake like this again! Oh, and the blonde at the register is rude and JUST ACTS AWFULLY ENTITLED! Dear Kayla, I haven't been contacted by anyone at your salon and I'm still upset that this is how nails are painted for $45! Sent private message with no response (they read post via messenger): This salon from my experience and from other reviews I've read, charges without notifying the client. My daughter is 9 btw and they tried to add a $31 dollar fee to her already $35 haircut because it needed to be thinned out. I have this done routinely and have never been charged (even at this exact chain salon). They refunded $20 and said they would only charge $10 extra for "bangs" (even though she didn't get them)... I don't think I should have to pay extra for anything extra without my consent. If the stylist would have informed me it would be extra, depending on price, I'm sure I would have declined! She's 9, I don't need to be adding an exorbitant price for using thinning shears! Seriously! It was two or three more minutes of her time! Please use this salon with caution and unfortunately, ask to be informed of any extra charges. Since this was not addressed appropriately, I will not be returning. It's $10, yes, but mostly the principle of bad business practices. read more

I'll begin with saying that we LOVE the hair services here. I bring my 11 year old and she loves Nicole. I'll also add that it seems like what you are about to read is not a unique situation - related to both service and price. In November, at the end of an amazing haircut, my daughter won a complementary pedicure from Roots' "Spin to Win" promotion. Thinking Mother/Daughter pedicures, I asked how much an additional one would be. I was told $25 and booked it. Arrived on 1/6/24. Our nail techs were very friendly, but it was obvious that pedicures were not a common service. Pedicures were fine-nothing more. The element that frustrated the most was checking out... my daughter's pedicure was free and I was ready to pay for mine and tip for us both when the total came to $41 for just my pedicure. I brought it up and was kindly told the $41 was indeed the price and not $25. The receptionist did apologize for the miscommunication and used "rewards" (mine) to take off $10, but ultimately the end price affected the tip (because I didn't have more than I expected to pay, plus the planned tip). I am not sure how the price of $41 would have been confused for $25 as there is a significant difference and I was told there are no services for $25, but I left disappointed. I was frustrated at the price and felt like a jerk for tipping less than I wanted (even though the service was not what we had hoped). In short, it's really important that items are communicated properly by staff. It also seems as though this is an issue that needs to be addressed with not only staff, but as a business practice. We'll definitely return for hair services, but will not for any other. read more

1. Required a $50 deposit for making my appointment and when I checked out, they didn't apply it. I had to show them proof of my deposit (which I had to ask for the original receipt for the $50 in cash I paid for the deposit with - thank goodness I asked for that up front). 2. Bait and switch. I was quoted on services and when I arrived, my stylist told me she made a "mistake" and it would be another $100 for what I was quoted on. She would do an "express" keratin treatment for what she quoted (not the full Keratin). I told her to do it for the price I was quoted (I got the express unfortunately). Who knows if it was even a "different" treatment or just a way to get more money from me if I had gone with the additional $100+. 3. My "senior" stylist burned my scalp with the hair dryer (holding it in one spot too long). 4. Asked for blonder/lighter color, I got darker color (not sure how that was possible except maybe through the toner that was applied). I even showed a picture of what I wanted for the color (and cut). The bleach was only on my head 20-45 minutes (only 20 on the darker parts of my hair) and I know from experience (which I told her), it normally takes 50 minutes with bleach for my hair. 5. I asked for point cut ends and I got blunt cut all over. When I asked about it, I was told she could go back in and blunt cut it everywhere, but since that meant cutting another inch or more off, I had to decline. 6. I asked for one spot on the back of my head to be thinned and she used "thinning shears" and was extremely aggressive. I had to ask, "let me feel it" to stop her and then I said that is enough. At which point she started to move to the FRONT of my head (which did NOT need thinning). I had to ask her to STOP. 7. I had bleach and Keratin treatment and then a cut. The cut was more like a 10 minute after thought. The cut was so uneven it almost brought me to tears. I have to wear my hair up until things grow out until I can have it fixed and still have hair left. If I had not said something almost every step of the way, who knows what I would have come out looking like. VERY UNHAPPY. I will NOT be returning. read more

Eeesh, this place has gone downhill. They can't seem to retain their best stylists so you are left with beauty school graduates who don't listen to what you want. They just do whatever they know how to do and then you're stuck with it. The stylist took a thinning shears to my ends....after I explained to her that I have been experiencing massive hair loss/breakage due to health issues. She did not show me any mirror at the end, literally just cut my hair and said ok! all set, have a great day.....it was $65 for a hair trim I could've got at great clips. Save yourself the trouble - prices are outrageous for the service they provide. Services will be changed on the spot based on what the stylist suggests and it's 2-3 times more expensive without any mention of it. They charge you toner prices to use purple shampoo on you and $65 for a trim and blowdry is way too much - especially when they don't even use a round brush. Literally used fingers to dry hair. I can do that at home!!! Trying to charge Neroli prices for cost cutter services. Go elsewhere!! read more

She continues to impress me with her suggestions and keeps me up to date on new styles/colors that have come out. I often bring in pictures of hairstyles and colors I like and she has no issue creating the color for me (as you can see from the attached photo). WTF? is it not common sense anymore that someone getting a haircut gets a shampoo and blow dry? who the hell decided this system? if this is what they choose to run their business , fine, but then set the online scheduling up CORRECTLY!!!! it should prompt you if this is a requirement. When I booked the appointment, it was last minute and I was placed with two different stylists, however, due to 'extra time' it ended up being one stylist. Towards the end of my cut, her next client arrived and she must have rushed because the cut is extremely uneven. There are strands longer than others and the back is longer the the sides. I am so disappointed because the lady did NOT cut my hair the way I asked it to be cut, she put layers in it where they didn't belong, and I literally left and cried in my cat. I went back after I called and the second lady did what she could, but there wasn't much that could be done given my hair was chopped up and way shorter than I wanted it. I wanted to be able to give a good review, I was so hopeful! My experience at the salon was fine, I went in to get my hair dyed darker to match my extensions. Which seems simple enough. Well what was supposed to be brown, came out as almost black. My hair is now MUCH darker than my extensions. When I called in to ask if they could fix it, I was told they could bleach my hair.....are you kidding? I am doing dark because I'm trying to heal my hair. Not damage it more. I was excited to try this place because it's a cute local salon that is woman owned and I wanted to freshen up my hair. Just know what stylist you are getting before you let them cut your hair. I have long hair and wanted the same haircut I have had for the past 10 years - long layers and curtain bangs. The haircut I received was kind of two haircuts in one with a long layer below my shoulders and then a chin length layer stacked on top of that. They were kind enough to emergency book me in with another stylist who was able to remedy the cut by cutting the long layer shorter so it could kind of blend with the very short layer and not look insane. This second stylist said that the first stylist did a 'technically correct cut' but because my hair was fine it didn't come out right. I know she was just trying to stick up for the other stylist but I felt like I was being gaslit because I would not have been in her chair if anything about that first cut had been technically correct. I now have hair that is shoulder length and I just have to wait for the even shorter layers to grow out. I tipped the original stylist 20% on a 200$ service. The color came out very good but I will never go back for another haircut and feel like I should have been refunded on the haircut portion of the service.
