Curtis was the plumber that worked at my house. He was on time; called 30 minutes ahead of time as well. He worked efficiently, checked his work twice and made sure the job was done.He also cleaned up after himself. American home shield sent this company to fix garbage disposal in our house. The plumber came and since it needs replacing he showed me low quality garbage disposal than we currently have and said that American shield will pay them only for that to be replaced which is a lie in the first place. Because after I called American Home Shield they said the technician have to call in and we will discuss with them. Once he called they agreed to pay for the same brand to be replaced. He said he does not have that in his truck and have to go and buy. He mentioned he has a 3/4 HP one and so I asked him what the difference that I have to pay to get the upgraded one. He mentioned I have to pay $450 extra + 75 trip charge ($525 total out of my pocket). This is on the top of what AHS (Warranty company) is paying them for labor + the cost of 1/3 HP garbage disposal. Even if we take the lowest cost for labor and price of original garbage disposal for which AHS is paying them they are charging a total of $775 ($450 from me + around $250 from AHS + $75 trip charge) which is atrocious. BTW the cost of Badger 3/4 HP garbage disposal cost is $139. So basically they are charging $636 for the installation of garbage disposal. I called blue dragon company in Austin and they said have the new garbage disposal ready for them and they will charge $150 to install it meaning even with AHS not paying I will be done with $300 out of my pocket verses $525 out of my pocket even with AHS paying then more on the top of it. BTW blue dragon company is a very reputed company they do not have a single bad review, look it up. When I showed the plumber the cost of original garbage disposal for which he is charging me so much in internet, he was so rude talking all some nonsense and that the price is in store but we have to stock it so we charge extra. Come on is it rocket science for customers to believe what they say. If I could give 0 stars I would. Please beware of companies that rip you off and are rude when you point out the truth. An update, AHS warranty sent an other company to fix the garbage disposal after the issue with Rooter man and the new plumber used the same brand badger and instead of using 1/3 HP which is what we currently have they replaced with badger 5, 1/2 HP without any extra charge to us. Where as Rooter man plumbing said it would be $400 out of pocket for 3/4 HP and $200 out of pocket for 1/2 HP to replace 1/3 HP that we have. It does not make sense at all because if you look up online in Home Depot, the badger 1/2 HP is $5 more than badger 1/3 HP and badger 3/4 HP is $15 more than badger 1/3 HP. So for a $5 upgrade equipment Rooter man was charging us $200 extra and for $15 upgrade equipment Rooter man was charging us $400 extra. But with the new company they did not charge us any extra for the upgrade equipment which makes sense because it is only $5 cost difference. I think Rooterman thinks the customers are ignorant and can charge them what they like. One more important thing to analyze how they operate. They prefer spending 1hr time talking back and forth with AHS instead of just installing the 1/2 HP upgrade which is only $5 cost difference that he already have in his truck. Basically the plumber went back to his truck spent an hour of time on phone and came back to tell me AHS agreed to pay for the same brand same 1/3HP but he does not have that in his trunk and so only 1/2 HP ($200 extra) and 3/4 HP ($400 extra). Basically he must be thinking I will go with one of the upgrade options which I did not. They spent almost two hours on this job talking on phone and arguing and finally did not get any money out of this job. Who is at loss here not me but them by loosing their hours. I know they would not care for that anyway because they are charging such high prices and I am sure they are getting that money back from some other customers who are willing to pay those high prices. read more

This morning, as we were making breakfast for 9, we noticed water pouring out of one of our kitchen drawers. To make matters worse, it's Memorial Day weekend. We called Rooter-Man based on their stellar Yelp reviews, and before the end of the day, Kyle came out, diagnosed the problem and traced it to its source, and managed to unclog a large mass in one of our downstairs pipes. I called AHS back and asked specifically for Rooter-Man after being assigned a one-star competitor. Emilio was the tech, and he went over and beyond my expectations. Mea Culpa... I cut our main water inlet while removing a root ball from an old holly bush. 3:00 PM on a Saturday, First day of Spring Break and my regular plumber was gone on vacation. I turned to Yelp for help, and came across DAVID at Rooterman plumbing. I reached the answering service first, and I was concerned no one would call me back. However, I had a return call within 45 seconds, and David said he would be there within the hour. 40 minutes later he pulled up in his truck. We had already cleared the mud and debris from the area and the inlet pipe was exposed. The cut was very close to the house, and He had to work some tricks to get a coupling on to make the repair. He stayed at it and was able to get us all set. He was fast, efficient, and went out if his way to make me feel better about my idiotic cutting of the line. I was also thrilled with the price. No extra charge for the weekend or time of day, and there was no up selling or sneaky charges. My regular guy may never get another call again! read more

I called, spoke with a pleasant guy who managed to get me on the schedule the same day. Lots of communication, they make it easy to know what you are getting/ responsible for. The plumber arrived at the time they were supposed to, and listened to my explanation of the problem (running the washer was making the master bath toilet gurgle and the master shower drain would back up). He got right to work, after providing an initial quote. Everything was pretty much as I expected, and he even generously fixed my leaky shower head! Then came time for payment.... and to my surprise, when the plumber came back in with the final bill, he explained that the initial quote was incorrect, as it was based on the kitchen sink, which is a whole different animal. I wouldn't have known better, but he was honest, and my bill was way less than I expected to pay. I'm very grateful for the honesty and integrity! I called 2 other 5 star plumbers on Yelp and they did not want to come look at a possible under house leak. One of them recommended me to a 1 star plumber. I did not call them. I called Rooter-Man. David spoke with me on the phone, came out the next day, diagnosed the problem (which turned out not to be under the house), and fixed it in about 30-45 minutes AND put in a shower head for me for free. Called Rooter-Man for a sewer clean-out because our house plumbing had backed up the night before. They sent someone to my house within a few hours. The service tech was Aaron and he was polite, courteous and did a good job with the clean-out. This was the second time in 6 months we had to call a plumber to because of a sewer back-up. First time we called RotoRooter - they cleared the block but charged a boatload for the service call. Aaron also discovered a root issue in in the sewer pipe between our house and the street, which is why it backed up again. His boss, David, is coming out today to give me an estimate to get that fixed. Also, the price of the Rooter-Man service call was significantly less than RotoRooter. The folks at Rooter Man are awesome. Not only did they fit me in right away (since water was leaking onto my floor), but they also went ahead and made all of the repairs that were needed according to my home inspection report when I bought my fixer upper. As it happened, the same repaired toilet had another part that was cracked but not broken and leaked slowly over the next few days. I called Rooter Man back and they returned and took the whole toilet apart to get to the tiny leak in the middle. And as a bonus, Kyle unclogged my tub (the clog showed up *after * the first guy left) all at no additional charge. The sewer at a rental property backed up on a Friday afternoon. The first place I called told me they couldn't make it until Saturday morning. Rooter-Man came out to the house within a couple of hours and correctly diagnosed the problem, which was on the city side of the lines. He even interviewed a neighbor to see if they had sewage problems, probably due to the same issue. He then advised me to call the city and ask them to clear the obstruction that was causing the problem. The city came out on Saturday morning and cleared the obstruction. I can't thank Rooter-Man enough for their service. Today was the last day of my lease, and I'm moving to a new house, but I needed a repair done before the end of the lease to 'make good' with my landlords - my boyfriend had accidentally broken the handle on the water valve that goes to the toilet, and we didn't realize it needed to be fixed until *last night.* Desperate, we reached out to several 24-hour plumbers in NW Austin. Few answered the phone, and those who did didn't have much in the way of availability (which is completely understandable - we knew it was a last-minute request, and a long shot, especially for something non-emergent). Luckily, Lisa answered the phone at 8:30PM and told us that she had someone available to see us at 11AM today. Kyle arrived on-time and worked very expediently. He replaced the water valve in under 30 minutes, including the time it took to shut off the water to the house and turn it back on. As the water started dripping at a rate of a gallon a minute through the smoke detector in my son's bedroom and the paint started buckling on the walls/ceiling, and the floor was soaked, it became slightly apparent that we had a problem. I contacted Rooter-Man based upon reviews, and sure enough, people were right. When I asked if they did emergencies, Christy quickly said "Sure, we'll be there in half an hour." (whaaaaaat?) Eddie arrived and was super knowledgeable and helpful, told us this hot water heater we have is known for having these issues (but also told us it's under warranty--appreciate honesty). Before he left to go get us a new one (same day--whaaat?), he also referred me to Tracy at Dry Force (water removal specialist) who promptly came over to assess the damage in order to get things dried up. Once again, Rooter Man Plumbing does an outstanding job. I called yesterday morning and Lisa dispatched Aaron out immediately. He was professional, friendly and immediately got to work. Our hot water heater in the attic exploded (typically they leak, not ours it literally exploded) and water was spraying out like a fire hydrant. Aaron came in and immediately put me at ease. He suggested a reputable water removal company (AAA Water rescue; yelp review for them to follow) and sat down and walked me through the steps of what to do next. He came back this morning to install our new tankless water heater. He was here on time and once again immediately got to work. Aaron has spent all day installing new pipes and the tankless heater. It's almost 6:00 on a Friday night, but he's not trying to run out of here. Instead, he is making certain the water flow and time it takes the hot water to get to the furthest most point in the house are meeting his high standards. Can't say enough good things about the service and Kirk who came to my home to fix a partially blocked sewer line and replace hot water cartridges on faucets. He called to let me know he was on his way and was on-time. He had what he needed to get the jobs finished and was friendly and professional. We had a slow draining kitchen sink and started looking for a good reliable plumbing company. Rooter-Man Plumbing answered the phone on a Saturday and we booked the service call for a Monday. They called me on Sunday morning and said they were available and in the area and was it convenient for them to come by. They arrived shortly, assessed the problem, brought the drain cleaning machine in the house (with shoe booties on the wheels to protect the floor), cleaned the line and spent some time making sure it was clear. David the plumber could not have been more pleasant or professional. They charged me at the regular service hours rate (because they made themselves available on a Sunday - rather than the Monday that was scheduled). David also changed out my clean-out cap (no charge) that was easier to access. My wife and I were very impressed and will use them for future plumbing needs. read more

David, the owner of Rooter-Man, has been to my house 3 times in the past few months. We live in a WWII era house with very old plumbing so we've slowly been fixing the leaks as they arise. I called him for the first time after hours and he was able to come out first thing the next morning to pump our septic tank. He cautioned that it would likely need a more involved cleaning/derooting within the entire septic field if problems persisted, and he was right. He came out a week later, again in a very timely manner, and spent hours getting everything in tip top shape. He also made sure to come out as soon as possible after this to fix a toilet issue that could interfere with the septic cleaning, and in the same visit he replaced my sink faucet/fixed a kitchen sink leak at a discounted rate - even with a badly injured hand. The receptionists at Rooter-Man are incredibly friendly and helpful, and David has proven to be a competent and professional tradesman time and again.
