We paid $40,000 to this company in full. The roof started to leak and has been leaking now for 2 years every time there is rain. The leak has caused us already several thousands of dollars in damage and repairs. We already replaced skylights, and put new AC system as this company insisted the leak is coming from somewhere else. Mr Lang himself promised on multiple occasions to fix the roof (that is still under 20 year warranty) and pay back for damages and repairs from ongoing leak, but failed to do so to date. We are filing formal complaint to the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and starting lawsuit to collect our money back and finally make this company to fix the roof and comply with the warranty and contract agreement.

Gerry even said we didn't have our roof done with his company even after showing the contact. We recently got a call from the new owner's employee, calling us a valued customerand would like to help if we had any issues. We sent all the related receipts but they decided not to offer any compensation. So new owner but same policy of NOT honoring the warranty. For all the work this company has done on our home they will never get our business again. The warranty isnt worth the paper its written on.

Dealing with Harold and Goetz has been one of the most frustrating and despicable customer service…read moreexperiences I have ever witnessed. We contacted a number of companies in April for quotes, their pricing was mid-range, they had come recommended at the time, so we opted to choose them. We were told that due to their back log from the previous year that we wouldn't be able to have the roof completed until the end of summer, however they would tarp our roof for added protection until they could get to it. We were informed of a possible restructuring and that a deposit may be required prior to them starting. We agreed to this, as again they had come recommended. As time passed, no communication from them came in regarding the tarping, I contacted them asking what the scheduling was and was told they had "restructured to better serve the customer". With this restructuring a new quote would need to be issued and an estimator would visit (again - and meaning the tarping wasn't happening anytime soon) - why the original estimate information was not usable is beyond me. Two weeks passed and no estimator arrived or contacted us and no quote had been received. I contacted the company asking for an update. I was told due to "a busy few days" they'd have my quote back by end of day. Three more weeks passed and no estimator, no quote, no communication whatsoever. We have moved on to another local company that has guaranteed completion within the season. Currently their website that they are "accepting October and November roofing projects", apparently they don't want my business. I have been extremely patient with them, and have tried to be as level headed as possible as I am in the customer service industry too. But this has been utterly atrocious. If I could leave a negative star review I would. Please if you decide to use Harold & Goetz, be very careful.

The same is true for the network of other businesses that are owned by them (it was bought up by Forge & Foster - Joe Accardi - group a few years ago. If you recall they lost all of their restaurants. They bought the Black Forrest Inn and fired the long-time employees. They let an entire freezer full of meat rot for months in the alley on Locke St. They 1) buy the land/buildings, wait for a few years and then shut it down to re-zone while firing all of the employees and withholding payment from sub-contractors. Or 2) they buy the building with private capital and sublet to their own businesses while charging (themselves) exorbitant amounts of rent. If it isn't illegal it should be. Knowing this... you would be foolish to give them a deposit. I wouldn't buy a box of screws from these people much less let any one of them work on my home.
