The crab and carbonara pastas were delicious, but I was beyond disappointed with the bolognese. It's obviously the restaurants recipe and people must like it if it's still on the menu, but in my opinion is was very sloppy. I did not enjoy it at all. I ended up switching dishes with my husband (he ordered the crab pasta). We also ordered cocktails and they were all delicious. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant is very nice. We also liked that many of the staff was Italian or my husband seems to think so, so that was cool. Next, we will be trying the location in Didsbury.

We went on one of the best evenings of the summer so even though it was Tuesday it was packed and service was very slow but we weren't too bothered given the pleasant weather and surroundings. Food wise we had decent seafood starters of crab and scallop and then bf had a calzone which he really enjoyed and I had tagliatelle with summer truffle - I went for large which was a bit of an error as it was massive but somehow I still managed to eat it all. It's a nice touch that the menus contain information about where all the ingredients are sourced - despite Piccolino being a chain you get the impression it's food and service first rather than brand (or quality food and service is the brand). I don't think you will have a mindblowing dish here but you won't go too wrong either.

But overall this place is pretty good, very friendly and attentive staff, nice touches like having the parmesan grated directly at you table etc and the setting is relaxed and modern. I had the crab spaghetti a couple of visits ago which was great but on Friday had the prawns and garlic pasta which tbh was lacking in taste quite a bit - I ramped it up with a shed load of salt and that did the trick but really they need their chef to be tasting everything in advance. A good selection of meat and fish dishes - pasta and pizza too of course - it ticks the boxes we need but wouldn't be somewhere I'd ever think about going on a date night with my wife...

It was a Saturday too. We tried the Gusto in town but that was fully booked. I recommend ringing ahead to book, if you just turn up you may be disappointed as it's pretty popular. However, unlike in town there is ample free street parking here. You could tell everyone had made an effort and dressed up, it felt like a treat and the atmosphere was lovely :) We chose to sit outside, they have partially covered areas with heaters and blankets so it's quite snug even when it's chilly. I ordered the salmon and dill tagliatelle which came in a creamy sauce with peas, DELISH! with tender stem broccoli and garlic mushrooms on the side, I can't fault the food or the service here :) I also got a peach and elderflower martini which was refreshing and well mixed. The glass was pretty big too which is always a bonus! My friends don't drink so they ordered mocktails, which got two thumbs up from them.

Great to have an alternative to the 4 Indian restaurants in Gatley!…read more Piccolo has an interesting split level layout, with a mezzanine floor and cosy screened areas with sofas, where you can enjoy a more relaxed meal or drinks. They have entertainment some nights and whilst that would normally put me off, they got the volume and style right and it worked for them. The food is reasonably priced and well put together. We had calimari and ribs to start, followed by prawn risotto and Vesuvio pizza. The service is attentive, although for me just a little lacking in finesse sometimes, just seems like some of the staff are a little inexperienced. I've been here 3 times, and overall Piccolo for me is a high 3 out of 5 stars and it's been improving each time I visit.

The restaurant has a live jazz singer on Friday and Saturday nights too. We came on a Saturday night and it was very busy - lucky we had booked. The menu was exciting and contained items we don't usually see in the chain Italian restaurant. For examples, I got the bruschetta with avocado, tomatoes and crab meat drizzled with pesto - every tasted good except I'm not a fan of plate decoration with balsamic glaze when it doesn't go with the dish. For my main, I ordered the tagliatelle with prawns and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce, which was gorgeous! Unfortunately, we had no room for pudding but we had a sneak peek and they also looked good! Next time! The atmosphere was great and the restaurant is a fantastic space with seating at various levels inside the building which used to be a church, I think. The jazz singer was good but it could be awkward at times when you're eating and she's singing at you, so if this isn't your kind of thing, come on another night!

It's a large, light and bright space with a vaguely nautical feel to it (probably due to the big model ship my seat faced). It's painted all white inside with big windows looking onto Wilmslow Road and it's been well designed for comfort and relaxation. I don't know how my photo of the purple allium flower on the table came out so dark actually as my overall impression of the place is very bright and spacious. Croma is mainly pizza and pasta, no complaints here! I knew what I wanted straight away (for once) and got the Agelfino pizza. This was smoked haddock and cheese on a thin base. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I kept on saying it the whole time I was eating it too, to my friend's delight! My friend was happy though, as all the pizza is available on gluten free dough, for an extra £1.50. My pizza was £8. The restaurant could do with sharper knives though as our biceps were getting a workout cutting the pizza piece by piece! The only bit I didn't appreciate was having to ask the waitress for my change back after waiting for a few minutes. I'll decide on the tip love!! However I will be back as I loved my pizza Agelfino.

Aubergine, cheese and tomato. I went for a pizza which had spicy sausage, onion and mushroom. Really enjoyable but I was a bit gutted I didnt have my mums dish.
